I couldnt find a bad review of WAR, Aoc, aion, Rift, etc etc............................then the shite hit the fan.
What do you mean . There were plenty of bad reviews for Warhammer online and Age of Conan . Rifts still maintaining a pretty healthy population so the shite hasn't really happened there .
where are the bad critic reviews for warhammer online?
http://www.mmoreviews.com/warhammer-online/ theres one . Only took me a couple of mins to find . I recall plenty of others at the time . I remember one site giving it 2 or 3 out of 10 . Although that was a bit below the average review I saw for it . most were 6-7 . Although admitedly some gave it grossly inflated 8-9.5 for what it was . ToR from what I've seen of it is nowhere near as buggy as AoC or War or grindy as Aion . I still prefer Rift to it though for the main reason that I like to do other things while playing an mmo such as listen to music or chatting to friends . With ToR I cant really do that in the same way because of the storyline .

I mean BIG company reviews like IGN and gamespot.. you know the ones who take advertising from these companys.. show me a negative review.. you won't find one below 80.. no name companies or ones without the advertising are more likely to be honest about reviews hence gamepro's one they did since they are shut down..

Yeah they were grossly inflated but you could find smaller reviewers and ones from newspapers that have no advertising revenue from devlopers that were negative .
It may explain why the sites you mention give good reviews to games but not the ones in newspapers .
Also theres plenty of bad reviews for single player games from EA if the theory they have to give a good review for an mmo it should hold for a single player game as well .
I certainly wouldn't give ToR anything more than an 8 . its a solid game but its not perfect by any means . But then again I wouldn't give any mmo above an 8 for the same reasons .
Professional game reviews are shortsighted, oh they do fine for singleplayer titles that you can play fully through in like 10 hours. But MMOs? How much of their worktime do you think those reporters get to spend actually playing the game before having to lay their review at their bosses desk? 10 hours for a big title? Maybe 100 if its a team effort?
That kind of time will net you the kind of reviews AoC and Warhammer got. Because lets face it, it wasn't the first 10 or even 20 hours /played that killed those games for peoples. Level 1-49 surely deserves the ratings the game got, but what about endgame?
People like to point out that this games perk is its story, and thats true. But the story is over at some point in time, you can switch it up and play the other sides story but sooner or later thats over too. And then what? How good is this game once the story is done? I don't know, and because i take my time i won't know for quite a while.
Website reviews are worthless, either the reviewer is from the website and making money off the game for advertising it to begin with or it is fanboys of the game, just look at game on these websites that have even been shutdown still having positive reviews and ratings with 8/10 and crap like that. Never take a websites review as the game must be good, cause they are getting paid to advertise it in the first place most the time. That is like a honda dealer telling you that Honda is the greatest cars ever built, of course they are gonna tell you that, they are making money. Btw you need to do a little better research cause i have seen a few bad reviews just with 1 search of yahoo not even turning the first page.
Professional reviews are almost always written by people that do not play MMOs except in the most casual of definitions. They generally write their reviews on playing level 1-10 and have no idea what they are talking about. Not to mention most of these sites are getting paid by EA in advertising dollars and its in their interest to write positive reviews. Writers for MMORPG.Com and Ten Ton Hammer are not journalists. These sites have no interest in critical accurate reviews or journalistic integrity. Their job is to hype games regardless of whther they are good or bad. Their sole desire is page hits. That is all they care about.
That being said the negative player reviews rarely if ever have any substance. But no less substance than what we passed od as reviews by sites like this. Generally player reviews are a lot mroe meaningful that website reviews as they actually play the game. ToR is a fine game with limitations. The question is will anyone have a desire to play it longer than a month. From my experience it has limited replay value. But then again that is just one eprsons opinion.
Gamepro did a video review of it and bashed it to hell. Here's a link to the video. gave it like a 2 out of 10 lol. just answering your question. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVieZI5296I
Stopped watching after "Ive been playing SWTOR for about a week now, i dont know how many hours I've put in probably about 15 or so"
Only 15hrs playtime = Not a valid review. They wont have even got off the starter planets if they played all the content

I'm sure he meant from launch.
I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.
I'm not afraid to tell trolls what they [need] to hear, even if that means for me to have an forced absence afterwards.
P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)
Common Sense Logic = P2P logic is no better than F2P Logic.
I've played it to 50 as a bounty hunter and into the twenties as a smuggler, it's an okay game. The storyline quests are well written, the gameplay is the same ole same ole not that I expected more. Space combat sucks, very buggy and that's not even including the massive framerate issues many people with well above minimum requirement rigs have had (multiple several hundred page threads in their support forums over them), graphics aren't particularly good for a new AAA title. Overall it's an average mmo that would probably go ftp in a few months if it wasn't Star Wars.

Come on you know it won't go F2P within months.

I rarely use this website unless I want to guage what a new games like before buying it . To look at some of the comments here you would think StarWars the Old Republic is a terrible game . So I went searching the web to see if I could find a review thats negative about it . So far every one I've come across sings its praises.
So I would like to challege someone to find a negative review (as long as its from a reasonably legitimate source ie a relativly well known gaming website ,newpaper or magazine website . Not someones blog review or a gaming site that invites people to submit thier own reviews .
I'm sure there must be a few out there but all in all the reviews I've seen are overwealmingly possative .
play the game and you will see the bad review in front of your eyes..
Back in the day you couldnt find a single bad review of WAR and AOC both there hyped to death but after 1-2 months the realistic reviews came out. btw ea is involved none of the big sites gonna give them a bad revjew.
Best way to get an impression of a new game is to read official or third party forums like this. You just have to read between the lines, look if there are complaints that come up again and again. Also take a look at what those powerlevelers that get to maxlevel in a couple days have to say, again, read between the lines. Do they bring up issues that won't apply to you if you level more leisurely, or are the core mechanics broken(like warhammer)?
Chances are in the long run your impression will more closely mirror that of your fellow players, than that of a someone getting paid to do reviews. Once you have seen a few botched MMO releases play out on forums you start to get a feel for what kind of complaints are gamebreaking, and which are simply from people who picked a genre they don't particularly like and are then surprised they don't like the game.

It's a good game. It still needs to improve, and it's not for everyone (no game is); but this doesn't make it a bad game.
You know, im pretty sure there where people who said the same about AoC, Warhammer, Rift, Aion etc.
because when someone gives a negative review they are call trolls or haters. i bought swtor and wanted it to be a great game but i cancelled my sub because i just didn't like the world design..it felt lifeless outside of the cutscenes and i can back that up with videos if you like.

so you just picked out one person in that review another person on that video was there since friends and family testing.

You should... There are animals running about and people talking to eachother. The bars could be hopping more, though. It doesn't seem lifeless to me.
It could use more sure, but lifeless is a bit much for a non-hater to swallow. What would help is if they had A) more companions and the companions chatted it up and did stuff in your ship.
I find that reviews are suspect, because websites derive revenue from advertisers, and the advertisers are the people writing the games that are being reviewed...so there's a vested interest in keeping the advertisers happy.
What I would expect, however, if the game was as bad as many people want to make it out to be, then the reviews would not be as high as they are. SWToR would not get an overall 'bad' review, but it wouldn't get 8s and 9s. You'd expect fairly consistent 7s and 8s with a couple possible 6s.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

Why didnt you included Warhammer in the "Since when are AoC, Rift, Aion, bad games?" reply, you forgot? :P
And they are all good games, they just had problematic launches, except for rift, and rushed too soon to the market, but i can tell you this: if WAR and AoC were treated by their respective developers with the babycare they deserved, they would be in the top ranks of this genre.
This game is "fun" just like every other themepark until you get close to 50. Then you see that every single set of missions is almost exactly the same. Sure, the mission dialouge is different, but it is the same actions being taken.
Go here, click this thing... kill 20 of these while you are there, talk to this guy, come back to me, go back out kill this guy, come back to me.
At 50 there is nothing to do. The pvp is elementary and pointless at best. The pve is just as weak and generic.
Each new MMORPG that comes out is supposed to raise the bar. The only bar raising this game did was with the voice overs... and lets be honest... that shit gets old after about 50-60 hours of gameplay. Surely there are people who find it entertaining, but I doubt it is near as many as some would think.

if war had the financial backing swtor had it would be a top notch product..it was rushed out the door and corners were cut to get it released.
