I don't have to give you any server names, because it's pointless as you just don't like to hear the truth anyway.
Yeah, I get it, you know that I debunked your claim, I'm even starting to wonder whether you're actually playing the game or just looking at the videos for material to fuel anti-TOR/BW rants you're on.
You look at a video and think 'ah, see, so that's how it is'. It doesn't say anything however about actual server population, and you know that, that's why you refuse to give server names and cling to your precious videos. I've seen how Sith dominated the Ilum playing field and have a larger chance to end up playing Huttball. I've also read the population counts from other posters and done several myself.
But, you know that you have nothing to counter this with, hence your refusal and avoiding to address my questioning your ratios. Then again, maybe the Sith population on the server(s) you're playing on really IS 4-5 times larger than the republic population. Or things have changed drastically in population proportions in the past week to favor Sith side in population heavier than I've seen so far.
But if I don't get a server name where I can check it, then I'll just assume that the situation is still the same, and that it's just a case that even if the Sith side has only half more numbers, they're a lot more active in pvp, hence the domination.
Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you know that we are currently working on an official response to these issues (we used the term "potential" during our initial investigating, and have now removed the wording on the title of this thread) and we will be posting it soon. Please understand that these issues require some time to investigate and we are making sure that we provide you all with the most updated information in our official response.
We understand that some of you may be frustrated, but we ask for your patience on this to give us time to respond with thorough developer input.
Thank you to those of you that have been posting constructively in this thread.
We will have a response shortly.
It's an update...saying that there will be an udpate. Classic, these guys should be politicians .

Yeah, this made me laugh. Like if people weren't already outraged.... this outraged them even more.
If the "official" response is going to be any similar to the HighRes Texture response...... oh boy!
I really liked the game and the prospect it had... but right now... this game undeniably heading to be the most expensive flop in gaming history.

What the fuck is this? I'm asking a goddamn simple question, why do people have such trouble answering it and squirming around, why the idiot fallacies all the time?
People making the claim that Sith to Republic population is 4-5 to 1? Ok, give me the server name examples to check it out! What the hell is so hard to understand that question??
I HAVE done the player population counts on several servers, incl some of the ones shown in videos. However, if 100 of the 200 L50 Sith like to hang out on Ilum and only a handful of the 150 L50 republic are there bc they don't like the odds at all, then it doesn't say much about overall player population. I didn't count a ratio of 4-5 to 1 on the servers I checked or read population counts on. I even admit that maybe ratios have changed over the past week, or that on a server I didn't check, the situation could be different.
I am curious, I want to determine what's truth and what's conjecture. Why is it so hard for people to spout a server name where we can check this 4-5 to 1 ratio?
First the PR dissaster regarding HighRes textures!
Now they royally screw up with Patch 1.1 regarding PVP with a huge Valor exploit and spawnpoint camping on Ilum.
Them saying they had the Industry's best working on this game? ROFL! If that really is the case, than the MMO genre is done for! /shrug
I agree, and think Bioware will be ruined by this mmorpg.
Bioware imo was getting worse and worse for some time already. Slippery slope getting really slippery with DA2 though, now Swtor will have even bigger implications.
They got WAY to full of themselves and way too much 'we know best' & 'simplification & full vo wiht dialogue wheel and streamlining is answer to everything'

Because all the proof is already out there! Both visuallly via numerous screenshots, videos and articles as many many posts on various forums (including the official one) about the Faction imbalance and how it's hurting the game!
Do you really expect me to start creating a Republic and Imperial character on each and every server and spend hours doing /who and calculating the populations?? Just to proof what other players have already proven and posted about already!
[Mod Edit] As you know darn well all the info is already out there!
Bioware, as you know it, already is irreverseibly changed.
EA currently has EIGHT studios flying the Bioware brand name. Many of which they just opened themselves. One of which is a social media studio.
Oh, and Bioware's newest project? Command and Conquer General's 2. Yeah, clearly Bioware has lots of expertise with RTS games...
EA is going to milk the BW brand name until it's as good as dirt.
This. I've been saying this since before the game was released.
What I don't get is how some people could be such BioWare "fans" that they will admit to buying any game that has their logo on it and STILL not realize that the logo doesn't mean the same thing it did 4 years ago.
I never denied faction imbalance nor imbalance in faction PvP. Read what I posted more closely next time. I questioned or wondered about the 1 to 4-5 ratio for faction population that you claimed was happening on all servers, since that wasn't my impression. We're talking overall player population here on each side on a server. Since I was curious enough to see what truth it holds, I asked you to give me an example of a server where this could be checked out, this was as easy as providing 1 of the servers you were playing on (if you do, that is ofc) where you observed this ratio. You gave no server name at all, instead started squirming. I had to get one from someone else, Creslin who thankfully provided me with an example where this could be determined.
For everyone that keeps quoting me and telling me to look at the videos for proof, i don't need to.
I'M IN GAME RIGHT NOW KILLING THE TURRETS. They hardly give any valor. I'm getting 11 per turret kill and they have wiped us a few times because of the republic that are there. The only reason we are still doing it is because that's where all the republic are and I get about 220 valor per kill with the valor buffs. We tank the turrets, heal the tank, and kill the republic that are there. The valor is coming from killing republic, not the turrets.
Bioware, as you know it, already is irreverseibly changed.

The way I see it is...
I am a fan of the talented individuals that made Bioware games in the pre-EA era still. But now that EA owns the Bioware brand name, it is meaningless. They will just use it as a tool to deceive people into buying crappy games.
Just like Spyro. Just like Crash Bandicoot...this happens a lot in the industry.
2) mismatched sides - this is something Blizzard was never able to resolve. They tried buffing the outmanned teams in WOTLK and that failed. Then in Cata they limited how many people could go into the pvp zone, which meant the people on the big pop side never got in.
3) Horrible FPS - I get 60-70 fps most places with graphics turned to high. I found Ilum unplayable on my server with settings set to low and shadows/AA off. I'm sure some people can handle it fine, but this is an MMO that needs to be able to scale properly on most machines.
4) Ranged classes have it much easier to farm valor just by being able to attack from a distance.
5) No daily valor cap in place means people will stay there all day and skip WZ
6) No dimishing returns means people can easily exploit it with a friend or stay in the area all day and kil lthe same people over and over
First the PR dissaster regarding HighRes textures!

And of course the players themselves are responsible for exploiting. Always funny to see how folks try to always lay the blame on the developers.
They fucked up, it will get fixed.
This is the perfect example of PLAYERS ruining the MMO experiance for others.
Nope. In this case it's not even really an exploit. It REALLY is due to a Major screw up by Bioware!
It's due to no diminishing returns on player kills and massive Empire zergs killing Republic players over and over and over at the spawn point that is gaining them insane amounts of Valor in short time!
More and more details are coming in, that it's actually not the turrets causing the insane Valor gain, but there not being a safe zone for Republic players to respawn in, that is causing the exploit.
So basically right now, Empire players can have friends login Republic toons on Ilum at the spawnpoint and let the Empire zerg farm them for hours on end. Which is what is happening since the servers came up after 1.1.
I play on Republic (if you are reading this and play Imperial characters, enjoy hurting this game) and i will always get zerged and LOLWTFPWNED on Ilium.
Forever.
And i probably will never be able to gar myself with Ilium pvp gear, when the other faction is already fully geared.
This is Aion 2.0, where Asmodians rage quit because they are outnumbered, outgeared and don't even have instanced dungeons because the other faction owns all of them (ok this isn't the case).

Wooops, indeed. Ouch, even.
Looks like EA/BW's immaculate timing with pre-launch announcements is haunting them. Well, the "immaculate timing" part, anyways
Keep it together, folks, I still want to play this game in 6 months' time...
