The MMO world has been rocked with Arena.Net's latest blog post detailing the Guild Wars 2 World vs. World mechanic. We've got some thoughts to share about this epic system and what it means to the game and to the genre as a whole. Read on and then offer your thoughts!
So… wow. After all this time, we finally have some solid concrete details on just what World vs. World (WvW) will entail in Guild Wars 2. We’ve digested the info that Mike Ferguson gave us in his blog post, ruminated on it a bit, and are ready to share with your our initial thoughts on just what awaits us in the Mists when GW2 launches later this year. With servers being matched up in battle every two weeks, and the warfront constantly raging day and night during the battle, it’s safe to say that PVP-ers will have a lot to do in GW2. In short, if you don’t fancy reading: Dark Age of Camelot fans are going to love this system.

Did you ever have a moment when no comment seemed to quite summarize things well enough?
Yeah, this is one of those moments. Wow.
Oderint, dum metuant.
At the end of each battle, every team is given a new ranking. Once a battle ends and team rankings are updated, servers are matched up based on their new ranking and a new battle commences. Downtime between these epic battles lasts only a few minutes—just long enough for us to tally the final scores, update the server rankings, and create new matches—so there’s almost always a battle for the Mists going on.
Does ANet not understand what they have doen here? They have just recreated the 100 years war. And I'm going to be stuck in it
lol Sin
Very excited for this myself...
I was sitting on the fence...
When a rock in the form of this forum post smacked me and launched me on over...
At least someone is finally bringing back 3-sided PvP.

Had no real interest in PvP since I stopped playing DAoC but this looks very interesting. Almost hard to believe how much we're going to be getting for a single one-time purchase.
wow, it looks so fun i can imagine me and my friends, and guilds just using this as some constant compeititve ground, it looks amazing. i like the idea as well that you can side up with another server to beat the bigger better server at that time im excited...that is all :P
Looks awesome, I am excited.... this needs to release fast! I have nothing to play until this comes out. :P
It almost seems too good to be true...then again this is Arenanet.
..Cake..
my thought exactly. It just can't be THIS good. Can't...right? right?
I AM A BATTLE SUIT
*stomp stomp*
To me, that concept looks good enough to be launched as a game of its own.
GW2 badly needs marriage system like Rift.
its almost a mini version of planetside inside another game.
If they can get this to "work as intended" with hundreds of player participating and an acceptable amount of lag (there will be some lag), then no modern MMORPG will be able to touch GW2, when it comes to PvP. Can't wait to see the gameplay next week, from Total Biscuit, Curse Network and many others.
This looks pretty damn fun, bring it on!!
That looks amazing. Actually a lot of elements of WvW were "testes" in Guild Wars factions. In places like Jade Quarry and Fort Aspenwood (which was very fun for me) so I can;t wait to see this on a much bigger scale.
It sound great, but you guys should wait to see how it will work with real players on it. Something great in theory could be an huge fail in the practice. I still remember warhammer 1.4 update, from ¨the patch will bring new life to warhammer¨ to ¨1.4 just killed war¨.
What about us!?
Thats exactly how I felt when i finished reading the blog post... the only thing I could think to write was OMFG.
why yes, this is a dream come true. it will also spawn many dreams of glory, supply raids, and the storming of walls. mmmmm......
You are a part of the many others, just that TB and Curse were the most recent ones I heard about being invited to the press beta. So they were on my mind as I typed. If you want, you could just mod edit your way into my post. I'm sure no one would notice. ;-)
