More over, consoles are targetted at a younger or atleast different audience than PC players which could lead to more action centered instant graficiation type of play and less depth and complexity.

Little bit of research would show you that GW2 is purposefully trying to give players more action centered instant gratification type of game play.

Anyone who is a veteran of GW1 knows that the depth and complexity comes in the builds.

-GW2 has openingly told us they want the instanced PvP to be very eSport like.

-They have openenly told us they want to eliminate grinding.

-They have openely told us they want action packed combat.

-They have openely told us they don't want you waiting around for fun and instead actively being a part of the world with fun public things going on around every corner and over every hill.

    Point is...

If you can honestly say this OP, and the idea of this game being on consoles is what worries you?

You know nothing about this game and will be dissapointed.

GW2 is going to be one of the most casual, action packed, instanced action, eSport heavy MMOs ever made.

It also looks to be a lot of fun, require no monthly commitment, and offer some pretty innovative twists on the idea of progression and content in a MMO and cool sounding open world battlegrounds.

I normally really respect your posts Yamota, but looks like you've been sipping the hater-aid and haven't opened your eyes my friend.

yep i agree with you spock. I love the fact this has no sub fee. So i can play it alongside SWTOR and WoW.

Currently Playing: SSFIV AE, SFxTekken, SWTOR, WoW. Waiting for: GW2, Resident Evil 6.

Patching, handling payments, and communicating with other players are probably the biggest roadblocks.

Streaming + DLC (something GW1 was known for - lots of streaming content)

Umm xbox live handles payments just fine.

Built in voice chat? USB keyboard/mouse support? controller add-ons that give you a texting keyboard?

Any MMO without general chat, trade chat, LFG spams is a good thing IMO - which is like 90% of in game text based chat - only important text based chat most of the time is guild chat, which you can easily do with voice.

Yep, pretty much got it spot on there Spock.

If anyone is truly affected by this whole console thing, then just don't get the game. But in the end ArenaNet have told us the kind of PC game they have been making and so it makes no difference to me.

PC gaming is alive and doing very well my misinformed lil troll friend. You might wanna do some research on things like GAMES for pc, or even alien ware, or amd, or intel, or amd graphics, or websites like xoxide, or razer, or, well, i could go on and on, but I am busy playing ROI and FE...................on my PC................that i built every scratch of....................myself.

I have an XBox 360. I use it many, many hours a week, However, I rarely play games on it anymore. I use it for Netflix mostly, with a little Vudu, Xune Marketplace, Crackle and iHeartRadio thrown in for good measure. So, I think you are on the right track. Consoles are desperately adding non-game content so that console sales will no longer be driven just by games. They are hedging their bets in a pretty serious way.

Someday all our computing and gaming needs may be completely covered by one device in the home, but we aren't there yet. Good that PC game makers are keeping up with other options for their games, but the PC is far from dead.

You realize not everyone likes to do the same things you do right?

Like I built my computer yes, but I just threw it in a case I used for a previous build.  The only "cool" thing I've done to it is hid the cables, and that was simply for better air flow.  Just because YOU have not played a console doesnt mean other people dont.

Also, not everyone likes to micromanage their things.  I have my PC and a 360 and enjoy both and I could care less if I built it or not, so long as it works.

But yes the PC market is alive and well, but I feel like as a whole the console market is doing a little bit better.   And just because you list a bunch of companies doesnt mean the industry is doing well.  I can list off 6 or 7 solar power companies, but that doesnt mean solar power is a booming industry.

It's good to see that there are talented people, out there, that can manufacture their own CPU's, RAM modules, motherboards, video cards, heatsinks, cooling fans, and power supplies. Oh yeah...and towers/cases. I bet that's not cheap to do. /sarcasm

This will only be a problem for PC gamers if they support consoles upon launch. If they did that they would have to dumb the game down a bit and change the UI likely as well. Thankfully it doesn't look like they will be launching on consoles.

I don't see why Microsoft and Sony can't make GW2 work on PS3 or Xbox360.

They could develop a new trackball controller with 12 or so thumb buttons + 2 pov joysticks + 16 finger buttons + thumbpad.

The controls are the biggest hurdle. Toning down gfx is easy since PC version has low gfx settings anyway.

But make the game for PC. Then let MS and Sony drool over the possible sub numbers. Thel cave in for the development cost.

We need to push PC gaming 1st so the console makers start making more advanced controllers.

This generation of consoles support mouse and keyboard.

well its not about mouse and keyboard ffs. do not mix console and pc simple.

Afraid of change. People don't even understand what they are afraid of most of the time.

Lol not really something to be proud of, building a Pc is as easy as taking a crap in a toilet.

I do hope that the console version if it happens has nothing to to with the PC version though.

The game is being built for PC, Anet have a small team looking in to consoles, if any porting goes on it's PC to console. Anet have stated their focus is on making the best PC MMO they can make, that's their current priority. Look at any videos and it's clear that the controls are optimised for PC. There is nothing to fear, any console port is years away and it will evolve from the PC version.
