I was only able to put MAYBE 30 minutes into Tera before I uninstalled it and 20 of those minutes were me forcing myself to play.
For the combat system being what it is, that game is just way too slow. Killing the newbie monsters just seems like it takes twice as long as it should. Attacking large groups is even more annoying.
Hopefully GW2, TSW, and Firefall will all be better.

This is exactly what all of the people I know have a problem with. The game should have a complete 20% movement / attack speed boost.

Actually, once you get into the swing of things, the combat system is quite fun. Tera has other issues, though: if you are the sort that must read the quests, or the sort that is very particular about your MMO, then stay away from this title...
Overall, I would give this a go, if they would cut-back on the investment cost a bit....45ish dollars, plus a sub is a bit steep for this novelty of the combat.

Meh, the game is different, and theres not much else to play right now. WoW is terrible / in typical pre-expac lull, GW2 won't be out for a while, D3 isn't out, and when it is it isn't even releasing with PVP.
TERA is worth the money, and I know I'll be playing it for longer than I did SWTOR. Level 25 Lancer ATM, loving it. Played all day long.

more importantly in the lack thereof, an achievements system which allows you to instant level through grind content. if after getting level 10 or 20 if i could instant level another character to 20 it would fix the shitty grind to a great degree.
after all the only reason for the grind is to unlock end game, the content sucks.
I pre-ordered with the intention of playing TERA until GW2 came out. Now on CB3 and I have no interest to play. Judging by the low server populations on just 4 servers, I'm guessing I'm not the only one.
What kind of populations are you expecting in an invitation-based Closed Beta Test?
I'd love to be helping test the game out, but I haven't gotten my invite yet. I suspect many others are in the same boat.

No. Just use glyphs.
Suggesting people use available gameplay mechanics to enhance or improve their character's performance while actually playing the game as intended? Are you mad, man!? That takes effort on their part!
Certainly it's easier and far more reasonable to expect the developer to just speed up the game instead. Who cares if such a change could greatly affect many other aspects of the gameplay that they'll end up complaining about later? They want their mobs dead NOW dammit!

WOOOSH that totally went over my head, sarcasm? O rly? : P
I cant talk for all classes but at least a warrior with proper glyphs and gear will have quite high movement speed and attack speed.
I've just played thought my first characer which is a level 21 slayer, gone though most of the content of the game, and did my first dungeon and experiance most of the content and this is what i got to say. This game is going to become similar to Aion, and here is why.
This game is only unique by it's dynamic combat system on how it's more actiony then other mmo games, a combat system similar to vindictus but more in a open world then just instance. After steamrolling though the content as a slayer, after quest after quest i felt a burnout though this game from grinding though all of these quests of "kill x of y", "collect x of y", "kill this mob", "group up and kill this boss", "go over here"... The same thing that most mmo has that still carry the old traditional system of questing that is not fun anymore when the quest themselves are no longer unique or does not involved with a very strong storyline, the whole questing system in this game sucks.
To try to breakway from the questing grind, i tried the crafting and gathering, sadly again this game is somewhat like Aion from the gathering failures and success and a stupid and annoying character animation on both success/failures. Nothing very unique on gather like most mmo's, and when i try to get into crafting and do my first crafting quests... the crafting itself is the most money draining system. I've been trying to blacksmith these 25 swords, but you need to purchase parts to make theses swords and they are ONLY purchasable, you cannot make them at all on your own, and here is something else. to make 1 sword of this quest, it need 5 materials that caust around 526 for one part, and the other 250, which means you be spending around 750 x 25 = 18, 750 on your first quests... Which is the most REDICOLOUS that i've ever seen in my entire life of mmo's. This crafting system sucks, plain and simple... Nothing unique at all... same shit like Aion.
I was easily bored of this game that it's not even fun trying to even play the other class and go though the same boring quests over and over again, and i don't see that as fun at all, so i'm not spending a cent for this game, this game need more then a new combat system to impress me... i'm still looking forward on guild wars 2 and archeage to pull though as those two titles look something unique and innovative then this game.
Can't speak for Archages but don't expect too much from GW2. Instead of an npc tell you to kill 10 rats, there just be 1000 rats invading the city that you and about 100 other people need to do at the same time. In all honest it would feel even more of a grind because there is no context them unless god is narrating them in an area while chat every step....that it just feel stupid.
Offic topic: just me or is the time on the forum like 1-2hr behind...?
was going to say something but than decided not to, no really a point in explaining realy, some people don't like the game they don't like the game. Like trying to explain how tasty chicken is to some one who say they hate chicken. Not going to work and only end up in pointless flame wars. So whatever roll for you doesn't exactly roll for me and vise versa.
Dude same here, I held back, but I love reviews from people that never got off the island or joined a BAM grp or PvPed.
Firstly it wasn't a review, it was just his opinion. if it was a reveiw he would of stated that in his post.
And also Since when does someone need to do everything in the game before realizing that they dont like the game? Anyone whos not going to like a game is not going to sit there for 6 - 10 hours playing it. I mean do you turn on your Computer and play hellokitty online for 6 - 10 hours and just realize... oh I dont like this game!
You realize how stupid that sounds right?
Anyways back on topic...
Well i left the noob island. Had a lvl 23 zerker. Only had 3 equipment slots. Pretty retarded imo, other then that the entire game has only 8 dungeons in it. The PvP is good. Nice more open world, Really nice graphics, combat is nice, but I think there has got to be more to a MMORPG then just the Combat system and how nice the graphics is. I'll pass on this game. It lacks in content and customization that most P2P MMO's already have.
I think I'll wait for Archeage. That game should have more content in it then TOR and TERA has combined

End of the day, GW2 has more new things to offer players who are bored of the current MMO model. TERA doesn't have as many. Also a big factor for many casuals will be the low/mid gameplay...where TERA really still sucks. TERA only gets good towards endgame. You could argue that for GW2 slightly, but its to a much lesser extent considering you can start PvP'ing straight away.
Currently waiting for the MMO industry to put out something good.
I was only able to put MAYBE 30 minutes into Tera before I uninstalled it and 20 of those minutes were me forcing myself to play.

LOL! The sarcasm thing wasn't for your benefit, but more for those whose sarcasm detectors need an upgrade.
Fair enough about the glyphs. I'm sure it all balances out across all classes one way or another. I was more just taking a fun poke at those who see something that isn't precisely to their expectations and, instead of saying "a bit slow for my tastes, but I can adapt", they immediately claim it's "broken" and needs to be "fixed".
I wonder sometimes if at any point the revelation hits these people that if some aspect of a game isn't designed to cater specifically to them, that it isn't "broken". It's just an aspect of the game that they're not crazy about.

New things? Everything GW2 has other game already had, more polished maybe but definely not new. Siege, WvWvW, Arena, and DE (granted no one done DE as good as they have) The scaling comes with a mix feeling as some people like progression and some don't. The fact is funny how people can say this when almost no one played GW2. i'll start believing once people can play the game, ofc i'll play it myself to double check. And no press release don't mean anything as we all saw from swtor.

actually you are wrong about one thing, press releases do matter. SWTOR did not release enough because they knew that if people knew the true state of the game they would not make any sales thus their extreme secrecy. They talked a big game but really there was no footage for SWTOR compared to what's out with GW2, there's footage everywhere both from the cons and the press beta. True you get the feel of a game from play however any ten year old with a computer and five minutes will tell you how great GW2 is going to be. Sad really that people just don't get it.
TERA has a good combat system i'll admit but i really don't see the appeal of the killtenrats or the end game rat race or the endless gear treadmill. Those things are old and should be shunned by everyone here.

I haven't been keeping up with TERA: when is it suppose to release? Maybe it is good for me seems like a skill based rather than tab-target combat system? I'll have to check it out. The more I found out about GW2 the less excited I got to the point I'm not really following it anymore.
So are GW2 (which I've already lost interest in) and Archage and TERA the only decent PVP games to look forward to over the next year or is there anything else on the way as well? I have to start figuring out where I'm going to land next or if I have to fall back to an existing MMO...

I have been playing TERA over the weekend. My personal opinion is that graphically it is a great looking game. And it has very action oriented combat. But for me that is where it ended. Thats call fanboyism, not everyone will like the same thing. Just like i fcking hate skyrim but other love it. So no not any 10 year old with a computer will tell you how great GW2 is.

GW2 will be the only one with decent PvP. The other two will be decided by gear.
One of the reasons the combat speed and movement speed are a little bit slower than say, Dark Souls or other single player games, is the latency. They want the game to be balanced and have a larger audience, and the sad truth is that most MMO gamers are running crap rigs, with crap internet. And honestly it seems to be well paced to me, its not to fast button mashing contest, and its not to slow. The combat is very engaging IMO, and if you have a brain and some hand eye coordination you can really shine, doing things like soloing bosses. Thats another problem with the MMO market, most of the players are just steps above 100 IQ, with little to no coordination, and when they can't spam macros/target of target, they don't like the combat. Each to his own I guess.

Thats call fanboyism, not everyone will like the same thing. Just like i fcking hate skyrim but other love it. So no not any 10 year old with a computer will tell you how great GW2 is.
Release is set for may 1st.
