Despite what all the fanboi's are saying the people are leaving the game. 1.7Mil in january and 1.7 mil in March says Bioware are only sustaining as best, but NOT growing.
Lol, you didn't play many other games in their first 6 months, did you...
and as you see by my post count and previous posts, I'm not just some bioware employee.
Also, alot in that list has been or is being remedied in the next few weeks with 1.2 and very little of it severely impacts gaming experience on any regular basis.
SWTOR was the last nail for me. Now I come here for the latest news but will not rejoin the MMO scene until something drastic changes.
So thank you SWTOR for making me a complete cynic when it comes too all new MMOs.
I am completely convinced of your view and will purchase this game immediately.
On a side note, I won't, because it sucks.
This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.
Everything he said is true... he even missed some. And if you think Patch 1.2 is a 'Cure All' you are sadly mistaken. I've probably played 6-8 major MMOs at release and althoug SWTOR is not the worst (STO) it's no the best either. Most of the these issues should have been fixed in beta and defintiely before release. Unfortunately the game is designed badly with to much reliance on VOs and Cut Scenes but unfortunatly this is fluff and without them the game is severyly lacking in too many areas.
A lot of these are opinion based, but most are true. I'm still enjoying the game, though. Yes, we all know the game has some issues, but, to me they are trivial and don't impact how I play the game. I find myself more immersed in this MMORPG, than any other I've played in a very long time. Will I be playing six months from now? Who knows, but I am enjoying it for what it is now.
agreed with the OP said (almost 99% of it), I have not been logging in for past 1 month and still within 90days sub plan (should be expiring somewhere in April) , should have sub under monthly recurring plan instead...grhhh
NVIDIA.....the way it's meant to be played.....FTW hahaha
That's funny how you got exactly 50 points like 50 levels in TOR.
I am loving the game and I am excited for future patches and expansions.
Everyone that loves the game is <50. That means not level 50. Once you reach 50 you quit 1-2 weeks later, simple as that. Reasons you shouldn't buy Swtor
#1. It sucks in all area's, except VO, "which it's just meh there". Reason being you have to watch all the stupid cutscenes 3000000000000000x.
#2. It's a worse version than it was in beta. 1.2 is just a few months prior to release beta verision.
I'm not going to go 50 numbers down although I could. The game is bad period. Eq f2p is way more fun than I ever had in Swtor just sayin.
To me Swtor is like a movie. Once your done watching it. Your done. Some of the classes had an odd feeling to the combat. Kinda like you're a very fat three year old kid trying to copy the duel of the fates, with your plastic lightsaber, on the family pet. The the pet is a goldfish in a tank. Then the kid next door comes over and its just one big flurry of inept swordmanship. Then your older sister walks in with a supersoaker and your all wet.
Ok so after reviewing you list of 50 I give you 13 correct, 20 opinions, 3 being fixed in 1.2, 12 that are seen by you and not me, most of those have been identified and patched out in the past (might want to update your info a little, those talking points have already gone away), and finally 2 which are most likely caused by your PC (dont care how uber it is or how new, if your not configured right it will suck, update your drivers, update your hardware, clean off the porn and keyloggers - it really does help to do regular cleanup and maintenance on your PC).

I have been level 50 for almost 2 months now...assume much?
Here is what I am doing now:
1. I am now getting datacrons that I didn't get while leveling
2. Crafting and selling my items
3. Helping guildies level
4. Building up my social points and companion affection
5. Doing space dailies to get fleet comms
6. Warzone grinding for gear and bank 1000 comms for future items
7. Unlocking codex entries
There is plenty to do if people would stop whining and just play. Instant gratification players probably won't like this game at all. But, those that want to experience everything that it has to offer will be busy for quite a while.
And...Kaocan is my new hero. I agree with everything you put. Is the game perfect...no. But, I am confident that Bioware is listening and will address ALL major concerns.
Bioware is obviously trying to eliminate pvp'ers from this game, they said before the game was released that it won't be a grindy game, and it's turning into a grindy game. With the heal and dps nerfs, pvp fights will take longer, you won't gain much credit from doing a warzone anymore which in turn forces you to do pve and dailies (again, grindy).
I think they know Guild Wars 2 is around the corner and want to get rid of the pvp'ers.
I bought the wrong item off a vendor and sent in a ticket asking for a comm refund or to exchange me the correct weapon, ticket sat unread for 2 weeks and it got closed, sent it again and it got closed again 2 days later. I also sent tickets reporting speedhackers and whatnot, got the "thank you for your concern", days or week later I see the SAME player continuously doing it.
I wish this forum had more members such as you. Realistic point of view. Is the game perfect? NO, but it looks awesome, they stood true to the lore, successful launch, lots of players, enjoyable combat, great sound effects, and a new take on the instanced system.
The choice of professions does bug me, I wasn't too fond of the companion/crafting system but it grew on me.
Overall having a good time in game.
Yes, yes, I have heard all kinds of stories about issues on a one by one basis. I personally have opened over 20 tickets with thier customer support to date, not a one has taken more than 48 hours to have a resolution/response. Granted I did have ONE where the out-sourced triage group closed it to automated response 3 times in a row - all 3 were in less than 2 hours TOTAL. I pushed a 4th through with a request for higher technical assistance and was sent through per my request. Within 4 hours I had my logs and directX Daig info in thier hands, and in another hour I had my fix.
There is not a single business on the planet that doesn't have someone say they had a bad experience with them on some issue or another. Blanket statements saying the company SUCKS becuase you personally have not gotten everything you wanted the way you wanted it in the time you wanted it done is just selfish and stupid. No company out there has its customer service graded by the ONE personal experience. Metrics are taken, polls are distributed, and the numbers are crunched. My 20+ good experiences on customer service with this company and this game, in the end balances out the one irrate customer who has nothing but curse words to spit out on the survey. There will ALWAYS be outliers. Both on the good and on the bad side. It is the overall that counts.
This persons statement of 'nonexistant customer service' is just a plain lie, they do in fact have customer service, really, they do exist. TO stand behind his statement and act like its accurate is just stupid really. Face value his words on this one topic are BS and anyone with half a brain can agree with that statement. Non-existant means just that, doesn't exist, which they do - false, BS, lie. Which ever word you wish to apply to it, its still the same, he is wrong on this one statement. I was nice the first time around saying it was just his opinion. Truth is I should have labled that statement for what it really was, total BS.
Oh and on a side note - if you believe someone is using a speed hack (or in one case I actually had someone in a WZ gloat about using one) I highly recommend you report them every time you see it. Be polite in the repot and be accurate if you expect a result. Give time stamps, locations, player name, server - every detail you can put into the report. And report them often as you see it happening. Dont just say so and so cheats cause i said so. If you do that the triage group is going to toss it down to a minor and you wont see the light of day on it. They will feed through the reports they feel can be worked and fixed. Biatch sessions rarely get a favorable response. Want you rticket to get looked at? calling them names and cursing at them is the best way to be put on ignore. DO that a lot and even your good cases may be tossed to the bottom of the pile. The guys doing customer service are just like you, they are doing a job, and nobody I know enjoys being told off every day by people for no particularlly good reason. Give respect, and you will get respect, especially when it comes to customer service. It is a two way street.

I said it once and Ill say it again. Its a good single player game.
Do you mean the almost obsessive detail and attention poured into the VO portion of the game? Or do you instead mean the stunning LACK of detail and attention poured into everything else?
Yes games have problems? Certainly, nature of the business, but one has to ponder why the hell a game with such a large team, budget and five years to perfect has so many flaws in its basic game design.
Totally worth buying? Not to me, not in its current state. For those looking for a mostly solocentric, PVE-centric MMO, SWTOR may indeed be their cup of tea, but if they are looking for a little more well rounded MMORPG experiance then I say "Buyer beware".
"Gypsies, tramps, and thieves, we were called by the Admin of the site . . . "
you are joking right
compare the money spent on this game compared to other games
now imagine what the other games would have been like if they had a fraction of the SWTOR budget
SWTOR is a solid game, is it worth the subs though? at this point no, it should be free to play. Thats not to say that Bioware cant still pull it back and justify their demand for a sub, but they will have to really pull their finger out and work harder on this game then the half arsed efforts they have put in so far
Currently playing- SWG PreCU & GW 2
Have tried WoW, AoC, & Vanguard, SWG:NGE, GW, LOTRO & SWTOR
Best MMO: SWG
Worst MMO: SWTOR
This right here. but even KOTOR were more alive then this game. it really does need a lot of work!

Personally I no longer play SWTOR.
However numbers dont lie. This game has 1.7million subscribers. That makes it at worst, the 3rd most popular MMO (After WoW and Eve). Thats a massive success no matter which way you look at it. The haters on this site are by no means a fair representation of the MMO playing community as a whole.
Anyone that says the 1.7million number is innaccurate doesnt understand corporate liability - If they lie about the subscriber numbers to the shareholders they are commiting a criminal offense. I seriously doubt they are doing that.

And no one would ever fudge numbers or lie to shareholders. Just ask Wall Street
