It is a nice game and a pretty standard themepark MMO. Combat is nice but nothing great. Not really any different than what we already have seen for themepark MMOs.

    Graphics are good.

Combat is a nice change but not really great by any means.

Same questing grind as any other MMO.

I tihought the game was to easy for my taste.

I canceled my pre-order becuase it isn't what I thought it would be and is just another clone.

I love Tera.  i really give a damn if it isen't revolutionary enough,  the game is fun to me.

only negative i can think atm,  is the questing wich is the same generic quest system found in wow.

the game starts a bit slow at first,   you really get into the fun parts around level 20th.

everything else about it,  i love.    it so happens that every single Western MMO turns out into a boredom paradise and a huge pile of crap , with Tera i haven't got a chance to be bored yet.

you iether love Tera or you Hate it.

The combat in this game makes it already a step forward in mmorpg's with open world(all dragon nest,vindictus,c9 shouldn't be compared with Tera they are Instanced, same shit all over again).

Why? open world =/= better game. DN, Vindictus and C9 have faster combat which is way more fun IMO. To dismiss the combat cause of their simple design choice of the world is stupid. TERA's combat is fitted better for newbies to action style games but from someone like myself who plays action games and fighting games normally, it's a borefest.

Because it's an MMORPG, not an arcade game.

Faster combat does not mean better when you consider PvP balance and the combat in general.  TERA's combat is much more detailed and strategic.  If you don't like it that's fine but I'd rather be sitting on the couch if I'm going to play a Jade Dynasty type combat system.

Just not worth my time anymore.

Where did you pre order from mate? I have looked on play.com but that doesn't get you into any of the beta's.

pre-order on the offical site or amazeon or game stop and you will receive a beta key to all the beta. Well if you buy from EME directly the game is directly added to your account don't even need to add a key.

The speed of the combat in TERA depends on the class, gear, level and glyphs.

As you get higher level you can get a lot of items to increase movements speed, more skills, plus with certain glyphs you can increase the speed of attacks.

Besides, not liking TERAs combat is completely opinion based anyways. However I feel being an MMORPG it should be open world instead of instanced, that`s just the whole purpose of playing an MMORPG.

open world = better game for me because I can feel what i'm part of the world and go everywhere I want on the world with my feet or my horse and further places with a transport system and explore new places different from the others(Like Vindictus is recycling the same places for like 10 missions on every boat).

So, faster combat means it can't be balanced, detailed or strategic? Seems like you have narrow minded thinking when it comes to combat. Also, considering that one of TERAs features is controller support, seems a little pointless to say some along the lines of "i'd rather be sitting on a couch" or "I'd rather have a controller". It's not hard to set up a controller for action based MMOs or fighting games for PC, it's just TERA did it for you cause it caters to newbies.

Yeah, because open world games don't reuse texture packs and models for different open world areas, do they?. Open world is a waste of time IMO. It looks nice, yes, but in the end it's only a place just to kill mobs and thats it. Exploration in an MMO is a silly concept IMO as well cause no one is going to care at all once you out level an area. Vindictus just streamlined it, while it did get old to see reused areas at points, it's not like I cared after I outleveled the area and went to a new area which was different.

I believe Tera combat system is a good step for the future for the new mmo's to adapt it and make it more balanced and more fast, of course Tera combat system isn't so amazing because it's the first one to actually do this style of combat(open world), and Thumbs up for this style of combat and I want to see more of this.

Ok I read this thread and comments....

wtf does "pants" mean? Are you asking if the game is good or bad or?

    I like the speed too.

Any faster and I wonder how many would be able to keep up with what's going on. People need to remember that in TERA: what's happening on your screen is important! Watch the mobs, watch how they move, react.

Exactly, it's made for newbies to action games. I find it funny that people keep putting up videos of end game. Yeah, end game where your gear and enchants give you attack and movement speed boosts. They should increase the base speed and not need speed boosts in late game.

When you post your high level BAM solos and hardmode videos then I guess you could talk. Until then you can`t really say anything to discredit TERAs difficulty.

Steparu has been playing TERA for a year and just the other day I watched him wipe about 12 times in a dungeon, I left the stream at that point.

I think Tera is ok, other than the combat system its a fairly generic mmo. I hope they don't screw the pvp endgame up by having pvp earnable gear and shit, should have to raid like everyone else imo. worked well in daoc.

Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:

    A. Proven right (if something bad happens)

    or

    B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)

Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!

Sector, putting words into people's mouths is a fail way to try and win an argument. If you like the arcade style lobby MMOs that's fine, play what you like. You try to put people down that prefer TERAs combat and it looks bad on you.

It's apples and oranges. In the games you think have better action combat how many additional skills do you have other than "standard" ones? Speaking of those "standard" attacks, in your preferred combat how are they different? Do they all hit the same with different animations?

TERAs combat is not for newbies of action MMOs. They are dynamics to consider that make it challenging for those paying attention. The only downfall to TERA is that you don't have to pay as much attention until level 20~ so the average player trying it out is most likely not going to "get it".

Just not worth my time anymore.

lol, What a poor excuse. Make the game more fun to even get to high level and then we can talk. The whole "well, it gets better at endgame" is such a WoW excuse that it's not even funny. And I did see Steparu's stream where he wiped a bunch of times, on a hard mode dungeon, where the boss blinds the party if you don't take him out quick enough once he hit's 30% HP. That had nothing to do with skill, it was they didn't have enough DPS. So, lol on the failed point.

The fact that you try to put so much defense in an obvious flawed game looks bad on you, sir. Once TERA comes out it's not like anyone is going to care or even remember me, so what do I care? "TERAs combat is not for newbies of action MMOs." That is your opinion, I, on the other hand, think differently and I have seen that there are many others that feel the same way as I do. So you can come up with as many excuses as you want but there are people out there who think TERAs combat isn't that great that makes it look like it caters to newer players and you're just going to have to deal with it.
