I would if it were that good of a game, good enough to keep me from leaving the house so often, cuase it would actually save money! i mean one weekend away from the house is 6x that, so yeah, i guess in this economy right? ;) it's all about saving money!!!

No, simply because MMO are different kind of experiences. Nothing guarantees me that the company won't go bankrupt, that the game will be supported, that I won't get banned, that I won't get account hacked.

$50 for something that you don't own, is too much, WAY too much.

Aks me if I would pay $50 a month for a magazine or book or anything that I can actually own, yes I would. But not for something that is so fickle as an MMO.

    Yes

Probably not in this era though. I can see a future where I would, but not currently.

Easily, provided it combined my favorite features that are currently scattered across a number of games.

I could easily see going up to £100 a month for a quality game that was a refreshing change of pace from the big budget rubbish we've been offered for way too long.

The current sub fee of £10-15 that hasn't changed in over a decade is extremely low for a months subscription.

I will join the 'would pay $100 a month club!'

virtual glasses and or gloves to help me get off my a$$ would be totally worth it

Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

Even if I were a billionaire, I wouldn't pay that much for an MMORPG on principle alone.

Of course if I were a billionaire, I'd be too busy traveling the globe, or even working on my own game, to play very many MMOs anyway.

  • JaedorJaedor Member UncommonPosts: 1,173

Sure, if it had everything I wanted in a game I'd be happy to pay $50/month or more.

Alright so I wrote no, but the truth of the matter is, I probably would. I love MMO's. It's my only hobby. I could afford $50/mo, BUT it would have to have every damn bell and whistle in order for me to justify that amount.

If it's a good game I enjoy, 50usd is nothing for a month of enjoyement.

Drinking tends to be used as an expensive & insipid example (at least I hope so) for the purpose of contrast.

Maybe a decade ago when MMOs were still great investments of my time.  Now or in the future, highly doubtful.  I just don't have the time or patience to bother with most anymore no matter how great the features were, and besides, the line of quality between F2P and P2P is quickly vanishing with every few months.

No game could be made that I would pay $50 a month for.

That was called Neocron.... it's dead now =P

I played Neocron, but you cant compare that with Deus Ex: HR graphics.

The general idea is that of Neocron, but for 50$ a month must be Top-of-the-hit, King-of-the-Hill, the numbeeeeeeer oneeeeeee!!!

Honestly as much as I am in dire need of a game like Archeage, if I could get my hands on it right now and it was miraculously finished, I would pay $50/mo.

That game to me is the holy grail and feel it is the MMO I have been waiting for my entire life.

Going to my local movie theater for a brand new release of a film, PLUS popcorn, PLUS beverages usually equals about $45-$50 or more.  However, I get the privilege of all the amenities that come with paying that price, so...

If I'd be expected to pay $50 a month for a game, NOT including the normal wear and tear on resources like my graphic card, keyboard, mouse, mousepad, on-board memory, CPU, motherboard, sound card, speakers, monitor, use of power to keep it all running, AND high speed internet--- what does the game have to offer that it should require that much money per month?

I would pay that to do the beta, if they had translated it

And what about EVE including walking on stations, walking on spaceships, assault on stations, smuggling, maybe First Person Piloting for atmospherical fighter combat...

I think on FPS style for all that sub-games

And for PC!!! not only PS3

if the game was "perfect" and i was enjoying it month in month out, sure.. no diffrent to paying that for a non mmo that i play for less then a month

  • RaysheRayshe Member UncommonPosts: 1,279

a game that is perfect is only perfect to a set amount of people. we all have different tastes and ideals, ill say right now that my version of perfect and other gamers version of perfect are light years appart.

That being said, no. even if the game was exactly what i was looking for in every way shape or form i would not shell out 50$ a month for a game. in my opinion to justify that much of a cost they would literally need to release a single player game worth of content a month. seeing how games take years to make, i can tell ya right now it wont happen.

    Because i can.

There is already a game that offers a 49.95/Month subscription.

    Gemstone IV Platinum

A small community where everyone knows everyone and being a jerk is heavily frowned upon by the cadre of roleplayers.

Granted this is from a game that used to charge $6.00/hour non-primetime and $18.00/hour primetime back in the late eighties.

Kind of puts a monthly subscription into perspective, doesn't it? (Though maybe not $50)

'Sandbox MMO' is a PTSD trigger word for anyone who has the experience to know that anonymous players invariably use a 'sandbox' in the same manner a housecat does.

No game is more fun than the one you can't play, and no game is more boring than one which you've become familiar.

In this world, the way things have become, this is a very dangerous post.

We live in an age where ethics, in any form, has become egrigious. Corruption, greed, and intolerance has become the motto not only of our nation, but of the world as a whole.

Most people do not understand just how close we actually stand to a return to slavery, to a world of lords and serfs, debtors prison, and a return to indentured servitude.

When we as a society not only accept, but begin to suggest seperationism within the mundane aspects of life, we are placing the collars around our own necks, the chains about our own feet.

Each time we as a society say its ok for those of us that have to demand better, different than those of us who have not, we add one more brick to the wall between us.

They are so close, make the decision to stand against them not with them.
