I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.
I definitely would if it had steams library of games.
But one single mmo? Asolutely not.
Theres no way a single mmo will satisfy me fully like that. Unless it was an MMO that had enough different parts that has like..enough diversity that its like having most of the steam games.
Edit : Ill prolly play it for a month but after that itll prolly not be worth the money anymore in terms of enjoyment.

I would totally pay 50 dollars a month for the best most content packed MMORPG there is.
If a game had 3x the content, and 3x the patching and 3x the expansions (free). I would be more then happy to pay it.
Alot of people pay 50-100 bucks a month for their cell phone. I'm sure many MMORPGamers pay that for their phones, yet spend far more time on their MMORPG then their cell.
Thats one of the things that really confuses me about people complaining about prices of MMO's. MMORPG's are one of the, if not, the most cheap entertainment there is. I'm talking Hour-of-Entertainment / USD ratio. Sports you can play with friends at a park might be just as cheap, but you have to factor in the gasoline cost to travel to the park, if you drive. So maybe throwing a baseball or football around in the backyard is the best hour/price ratio of any entertainment.
But MMORPGs are way down there. Cash shops are a waste of money, you don't need to buy jack shizzle from a cash shop and you can enjoy the game. It just has to do with self discipline and being content with your status among other players. Let me list a few F2P games I have played and spent 0 dollars on, or the minimum 15$ a month subscription type payment. Cabal Online ($15/month), Eden Eternal ($0 / 6 months), Scions of Fate ($15 / month), League of Legends ($0 / 1-2 years), Drakensang Online ($0 so far). These are all pay to win type games, yet I purchased only the subscription'esque item or no items at all.
So my point is, I don't understand when people complain about "oh this game is 60 bucks retail, plus subscriptions" or they complain about subscription games being 15 bucks a month.
You would think it was halarious how many times I heard some of my guildmates in Eden Eternal say, "subscription games suck, im not paying 15 bucks a month, screw that" and yet they were spending 30-100 bucks a month on cash shop items, literally. I understand some people may play more then one MMORPG at once, so if your doing that your paying double, and also splitting your time, so your ruining the sweet deal. But if you're playing just one MMORPG, aslong as your playing it for more then 5 hours a month, then you're getting your moneys worth.
I like to always compare it to a Pappa Johns or Dominos pizza. Its like 10-15 bucks for a large pizza... vs. a months worth of entertainment. How can anyone possibly complain about MMORPG prices if they have ever purchased a high-end carry out pizza.
Anyways, yes if the game truly was 3x as good, I would be very excited to be able to play it for 3x the Subscription cost.
It would have to be the best game in the world that would make me completely forget about reality, 'cause if I wanna continue having a social life or cell phone or whatever, I won't be paying $50 monthly for one game.
Sheep are sheep, even if those sheep claim to be blacker than most, they are still in fact...sheep.
And in this day and age, when everyone claims to be a black sheep, that in fact becomes the norm and once again they are placed back into the herd of sheep.
Stop being sheep people, even when you think you aren't, you still are...
By offering the idea that companies can take more money from you, you are offering up the idea that they are able to take more money, stop that!
Here Mr. Capitalist company, I am fine with giving you more money, why you ask? Well, because I just want to!
well, that's great. I'll introduce you to my friends who think that any paying for video games is a comple waste of money and that every time you are playing a video game you could actually be doing something else that is far better.
Some of them might even roll their eyes and say that you and I are "sheep" for playing these games.
All of this has to be put into perspective. For instance, are you the type of person who might have more than one subscritption? Let's say you have three. I know for myself I could have three going at once.
well, add that up at 15.99 per month and that's just about that 50.00.
And if that 50.00 game was actually so incredible, had the greatest customer service, had live events all the time, etc. then spending that 50.00 in one place instead of spending it over several games might be worth it.
Still, when i say "incredible game" I'm talking about the game in my head. No mmo has ever come close.
Then write a bible for the game, maybe a few short stories which show case what this game is and how the world in the game is run and how the societies work. I'm not sure about the format for submitting to game companies, as I have never done it. But if it's anything like novels or scripts it just involves a manuscript which makes people want to continue to read it. While much harder than it sounds, after you get the hang of it, it's rather easily done.
Submit it to a few agencies or companies and hey, you never know, you may end up as the next big thing in MMO writing. This genre needs a rockstar writer, maybe that person is you, you never know.
For the perfect MMO yes, I would pay 50 bucks a month.
No you wouldnt. I heard ya say the other day you wouldnt spend more than $49.99
Heck folks carrying multiple subs, or heavy into a cash shop already are.
I wonder how much, on avg, the biggest spender on a game spends in a month? I would have to think that person would come from Entropia.
As far as 50 bucks a month? Not me. That much basically buys me a new game each month. I wont play any single game that much in a yr to pay 600 bucks for it. Ten new games , a normal sub, plus some DLC on 360 probably runs me about 900 per yr. It gives me plenty of variety.
Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.

Honestly? I can conceive of a game that I'd pay $50 for but I highly doubt it would be anything but a niche game. Though maybe that's the trick? Create an extremely well made and feature rich game that is smooth, has loads of content and player driven content, a great amount of gm participation and then charge more than the 15.99 or whatever it is now.
Maybe that's the answer. People want to have games that would normally be considered niche and maybe upping the price will allow them to exist.
Still, it seems a damn shame that in order to get a good game that doesn't follow the new way of doing thigns we have to pay more.
Let alone some super rockstar game.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
Theres no MMO worth 15 dollars a month, more or less 50.......The problem is that all these games talk about how great they are when basically its same ole same ole......
I think $50 is too steep. But I'd pay $25-$30 if it were a great game, with active cheat hunters 24/7, GM run stuff that was fantastic, a huge world, Sandbox greatness, and generally the greatest Massively Multiplayer Online World (MMOW) that could be made today.
Yes I would easily pay $50 a month for a great MMO.
GW2 "built from the ground up with microtransactions in mind" 1) Cash->Gems->Gold->Influence->WvWvWBoosts = PAY2WIN 2) Mystic Chests = Crass in-game cash shop advertisements
I dont even pay $14 a month for an MMO, let alone $50... GW2 is getting the $60-70 from me for sure and if I decide to use the cash shop as well then so be it, but I am not paying monthly. PERIOD.
I'll pay as much as $0 a month for an mmo. Thats where I stand. Done with monthlys and actually have been for about a year now. Having as much fun with mmos as I ever did. Not missing a thing.
Comments
Not a chance, unless it could cause me the spontaneously orgasm just by opening the launch screen.
I work 50 hours per week and other hobbies, so I wouldn't be able to justify spending $50 per month on a game sub no matter how good it is.
I wouldent pay $50 to buy a MMO so why would i want to spend that monthly.

No, otherwise I'd be playing Entropia.

F**k no.
I make spreadsheets at work - I don't want to make them for the games I play.
I don't even pay 9.99 a month, and 50 bucks a month could mean a fresh new gaming experience or TWO.
It's quite frankly idiotic to even think it when 14.99 is soon going to be a stretch.
I used to play MMOs like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee.
I definitely would if it had steams library of games.

What? No... just, no.
No, it's only a game. My cell phone bill is only $30 WITH data.
Also, I've been spending $0 / month on a game that I've been engrossed with for the past 12 months.
It would have to be the best game in the world that would make me completely forget about reality, 'cause if I wanna continue having a social life or cell phone or whatever, I won't be paying $50 monthly for one game.
