And leave the cash shop off of these servers. I love alot of what I've read about this game, but I just won't pay a game with a CS that has anything but cosmetic items in it, I'd prefer not even that because you know EVENTUALLY the sword of 1000 truths will show up in that thing. Make it a smaller sub, like maybe 9 bucks a month and I bet you'd be shocked at how popular those servers would be.
you are absolutely ridiculous... OMG cash shop has items that drop in game and are available to everyone /cry /b!tch /moan. Did you even see that most of the items people had issue with were REMOVED during the weekend already. My god ppl just like to b!tch without knowing anything.
Wait....are you bitching?
no I am ranting at ignorant people who can't bother to learn before they make wild claims.

Where do I even start, how about at NO. The sword of 1000 truths never showed up in Gw1 and they would be incredibly stupid to put it into GW2. How about we worry about what's infront of us instead of what might happen if somehow their entire staff gets a labotomy. Even if it did show up the public outcry would get it removed before it made it out of the testing server.
Second I don't think those servers would be popular after a month or so. The key thing that makes GW2 so awesome is that it doesn't have a sub. You can always leave and come back without a sub weighing you down. People will get bored of WvW and they will then stop subbing. Then once they realize that the non-sub servers are EXACTLY THE SAME, they won't come back. That leaves ArenaNet with 3 dying servers, which isn't good.
Your and a few more people around heres crusade against "p2w" is so twisted with bad logic it isn't even funny. XP boosts are not p2w, karma boosts are not p2w. A box you randomly get a piece of gear that is available in game is not p2w. Pay to win means you pay cash and get items far better than are accessible without playing and that won't happen in GW2, again unless they get a brain eating disease. If you're so worried about someone being a higher level than you then do not play MMO's. I'm guessing when you buy a MMO months after launch you cry "OMG P2W! They paid a sub for 3 months and now they have a higher level! P2W!". I think most of the people that think this games cash shop will be p2w have not actually watched any videos of how things progress.
The Cash Shop item leak, I don't even take it seriously. It has been stated countless times that what is currently being tested in the beta events may or may not make it into release. ArenaNet is testing which items the community likes the most and which items the community hates. Heck... go into beta and give them constructive feedback on what items you like in the shop and which you would never want to see.
That type of argument is very weak. The beta leak tells you exactly what their frame of mind is on the cash shop. It's like if they decided to torture puppies in the beta. Yeah, the outcry would ensure no puppies will be tortured at launch, but the fact they even thought it a possibility repulses you.
And it's easy for outcry to make them behave at launch, as initial box sales are paramount then. But as time goes on, and box sales inevitably drop, the corrupting lure of the cash shop will become stronger and stronger. The beta shows exactly the direction it will go...
Yeah, because the corrupting lure of the CS in GW1 got irresistible to Anet. Like I've said before, if you don't like the CS you have a couple of choices:
Don't play the game, which leads to don't bother with it at that point. (If you're not going to play it why do you care what the devs do?)
Contact Anet directly and let them know what you think. Complaining about it on MMORPG.com over and over again doesn't really make much sense....
I just think that if anyone thinks this game has Pay2Win items in the CS they are sadly misinformed about what Pay2Win actually is and how this game will operate. Or, they're just haters who have no intention of playing the game at all who are twisting the CS idea into something it's not so they can complain more.
You want me to pay to play a game I already paid for???

Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
Im seriously wondering here.. why all the hate for a CS? From what i gatherd from the "leak" nothing in there bothers me at all. I dont plan on buying any of the boosts, keys, or res orbs. No. If ArenaNet was really interested in gouging it's players, they would have gone to a subscription model from the beginning. Despite the strident howls of the anti-Guild Wars movement, this game is more than able to stand toe-to-toe with any tiple "A" game on the market today, or on the horizon. They could easily get away with forcing a sub on their players. In fact, sticking to a more traditional payment model would go a long way towards shutting up some of their more vocal detractors. However, philosophically, they are against it. They intend to prove that a B2P model can work on a large scale (much larger than GW1) and they aren't going to shoot themselves in the foot for a handful of players who refuse to adapt.
And good for them. I wouldn't want it any other way. There are plenty enough gamers out there that either share their philosophy or are at least curious to see if it can be validated. I don't care one iota for those who have their hearts set on the old archaic ways of doing things and would be happier not having to share a game world with them. They'll have no trouble finding a home since the industry is all too eager to cater to their perspective. ArenaNet is not, which is just how I want it.

I think you are a little confused.
Arenanet didn't go with cash shop over subscription for the players. They did it to make money. Microtransactions make more money then subscription fees.
Arenanet went with microtransactions because it was the best thing for their bottom line.

cool so you understand this then
Anet give us servers with cash shops and remove all those cash shop items from game except gems.
gems in these servers are used to buy game time and expansions.
10 gems = 9.99$
with 10 gems i will get 1 month game time.
you can only buy gems from cash shop and binds on pickup.
Im seriously wondering here.. why all the hate for a CS? From what i gatherd from the "leak" nothing in there bothers me at all. I dont plan on buying any of the boosts, keys, or res orbs. Maybe a character slot, the dye pack looks juicy, bank slots, and maybe Bags if i dont wanna wait to get em in game.
The game is not based on gear. (yes i know said many many many times) You are automatically deleveled when you go into a lower leveled zone so you dont steam roll it. So yes it is for all intents and purposes Cosmetic.
None of the items i saw worked in PvP.
So please. In the spirit of the rational posts i have seen here. Tell me why the hate.

The only way I could accept paying a 'sub' is if it was calculated on a per hour or per minute basis. Say, 15$ gives you average 2 hours per day for a month [...] If you're a power player, you will pay 15$ as usual, but if you're casual, you won't be ripped off, and will pay only a smal fraction of the total, depending on how much you ACTUALLY spent in the game. [...]
Both casuals and hardocre players win, and devs still get a fair share for their work. This is the ONLY sub model I can agree to.
When WoW had been out for half a year or so I discussed the same idea with a friend. We actually wondered how long it would take devs to use a model like this - strangely enough, we've never spoken of it since. What's the holdup? It's not like they're not able to track our playtime.
Other than that, I'm on a rather neutral stance towards cash shops. I don't like them, but I haven't seen anything in the leak that seriously disconcerted me. I'm excited for the game and I will definitely try it. Should the fears of those warning of the possibly upcoming P2W items turn out to be true, I'll probably be gone. But so far - not looking like it.
Let me point out that, in fact, I couldn't care less about these first world problems. I'm just having fun.

theres no single item in cash shop that get you p2w or any great advantage over others
Subscriptions are harmful to games. They change the development tactics from just making a fun game, to making a padded out game with endless 'carrots' to keep people paying every month.

The vanity items and account services are not what people are concerned about.
Then what is the concern?
Control for one. Anet has the means to control our pocketbooks. The items you see in the cash shop now will change and eventually (imho) become p2w. This is just one reason. A monthly sub is pretty much set in stone and they know they will lose money going this route. The OP just would like to see a couple Sub servers thats all. This debate about cash shops is everywhere. Go read one of them.
Anet doesnt controll your money, you do. And i dont see how its different between b2p and p2p in this senario because if anet does go down the slope to p2w there gonna lose alot of sales on expansions and people buying things in the cs.
As i stated in another thread they can have 10,000 people that like p2w spending 50 dollars a month in a cs or 1,000,000 people that dont like p2w spending 5 dollars a month, which one do you think they would prefer?
The OP has the idea of haveing a few servers Subscription is all. Go debate your ideas on a cash shop thread. Why do you guys that hate subscriptions always jump in and start up these debates? It's constant. If you don't agree with others thats your opinion but the OP started this as an exclusive idea.
Lol your the one that commented on the cash shop, i just quoted you. or did you forget. let me make it bigger for you.
His idea isnt bad but it goes againt what gw2 is trying to create. there idea is that in order to have a subscription you need a gear grind. they have taken both out of the equation.
That would be like asking WOW or SWTOR to take out the gear grind but still charge a sub. no one would continue to pay, so why you think people would pay 15 dollars a month to do some something everyone else gets to do for free is beyond me.
And for the point about a 9 dollar a month fee, thats ridiculous!! thats like arena net saying "Hey are game is not as good as games charging 15 dollars amonth so we charge 9"
again while not a bad idea in general i just dont see it happening or being something good for gw2. maybe there can be a hybrid game someday where some servers cost different, some free, some sub. but gw2 isnt the right game for it
And leave the cash shop off of these servers.
Ok, so I'll admit I haven't read the thread fully and it's highly likely this has been brought up already, but just on the off chance it hasn't.
So if you look at ArenaNet's track record with their currently existing GW cash shop you'll note it's pretty much nothing but convienience, cosmetic and vanity items. There's the expansions themselves, some costumes, charcter renames/makeovers, character slots, 'bank' slots, unlocks of things for PvP characters (and henchmen) so you don't have to play PvE to get them, and the ability to turn one or some of your characters into henchmen useable by your account.
GW has had a cash shop for years and that's what they sell. Nothing remotely 'uber in-game PvE/PvP item'ish about any of it.
And leave the cash shop off of these servers. I love alot of what I've read about this game, but I just won't pay a game with a CS that has anything but cosmetic items in it, I'd prefer not even that because you know EVENTUALLY the sword of 1000 truths will show up in that thing. not on there. i looked before i responded to ya in the first place.
I fail to see what your point is. I gave you the link to show you cash shop items(3 of them) that will be in game. One of them that has a PvP effect.
Do they not count because they aren't on the page you linked?
these are not cash shop items its a bonus you get when you buy DD or CE version of the game
The bonuses you get when you order the game are indeed cash shop items.
The reason they did this was to introduce players unfamiliar to a cash shop to those items. Their hope is that after you use them you will go back to the cash shop to purchase more.
I don't care if they do. I won't pay for a sub and will probably not buy, or rarely buy anything from the cash shop either. As long as the items don't make people powerful, I could care less. EXP boosts and shit like that don't bother me at all.

again while not a bad idea in general i just dont see it happening or being something good for gw2. maybe there can be a hybrid game someday where some servers cost different, some free, some sub. but gw2 isnt the right game for it
Ok, so I'll admit I haven't read the thread fully and it's highly likely this has been brought up already, but just on the off chance it hasn't.
The big thing with GW2 is take it as it is, or leave it be...
One big happy community that allows people from all servers to PvE and Structured PvP together.

I fail to see what your point is. I gave you the link to show you cash shop items(3 of them) that will be in game. One of them that has a PvP effect.
Do they not count because they aren't on the page you linked?
these are not cash shop items its a bonus you get when you buy DD or CE version of the game
They would have to charge 15 dollars a month or people will say it must not be as good as games that charge 15 dollars a month
Actually there is no argument because neither of us can PROVE that they are a CS item. All yours proves is that they are a DD and CE item.
Not true. These items are the only official cash shop items we do know about for sure. All others have not been officially released.
