It's my understanding that they should work but you would be unable to take advantage of the dual channel architecture if you use different card models (with different CAS values, etc.). I could be wrong.

I have done so successfully, however you may wish to contact your mobo mfg website to be sure.

Hey I just got my Abit AGB 775 Mobo in the mail.  I saw a few things about the "Uguru" feature but was wondering exactly what it does.  Is it useful or just some extra fluff?

  • jayheld90jayheld90 Member UncommonPosts: 1,726

µGuru combines the latest PC technologies, providing users with an unforgottable PC experience. µGuru integrates a hardware microchip which interacts with Windows-based software applications to maximize PC performance and stability, while allowing for zero CPU usage.

µGuru features ABIT AutoDrive™ overclocking, advanced audio features, auto FAN speed control, self-diagnostic H/W monitoring, one click BIOS updating, and 24 hours e-service. µGuru combines ABIT EQ, OC Guru, FlashMenu and BlackBox applications with a user-friendly interface, providing users perfect environment for performance and stability. Furthermore, ABIT's new Guru Clock brings users prompt overclocking and monitoring hardware status without the need to enter Windows-based utilities. Users no longer have to worry about being interrupted while they're playing games or applications in full screen when they want to increase the system speed.

that explains what it is, and does right there. hope that helps.

Ok I have a problem. I made a bonehead move. The new mobo I got is sata compatible but my current hard drive is an ata version. This means I can't hook up my hard drive to my new mobo. My question is, is there a way to transfer all my data from my current hard drive to a new one? I know I can put all my mp3's etc. on cd's but Im concerened about losing my EQ2 progress which leads me to my second question. If I get a new hard drive, re-install EQ2, will my progress still be there when I sign in or will it be gone? Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. If it matters my mobo is an Abit AGB 775 socket.

You will lose zero eq-related files after a reinstall/patch aside from things like screenshots, customizations you've made, etc. All important data (character level, equipment, etc.) is stored on their servers to prevent people from hacking amongst other things.

Also are you positive your MB doesn't have a few IDE slots for a ribbon ATA to plug into?? I'd be surprised if a socket 775 design didn't have at least two of those connections.

Looking at the layout in the manual, the board itself, and description online, it all shows just one. I thought it would have more than one too but too my suprise it didn't. It's really not that big of deal because I was thinking of maybe gatting a new hard drive in the future, just maybe not this soon. Oh well, live and learn. Thanks for your help as usual Valarauk. Thankfully you always seem to have the answers to my questions ::::08::

Ok I've decided to move my hard drive to my new build. I am going to have to get a new Windows XP home cd because I'm using a Dell right now and I've heard I cant move the version of XP on here beacuse it's made for Dell (if I'm wrong please let me know.)

My main question is, is there anything I need to get rid of on my hard drive before I move it to the new PC? Or do I just simply pop it in the new build? Of course I will be uninstalling the current version of XP, but anything else I should remove as well?

  • glubeglube Member Posts: 5

you can just pop it in but you will have to reformat the harddrive as winXP ( home & pro) will not allow you to use the old install on a different mobo.

best thing to do is move any files you want to keep, including all emails that have been sent you with passwords etc in, to a cd or other removable media. At the very least dont forget to write down any keycodes for software that you have installed i really cant stress that too much, it took me 3 weeks to get a password sent to me for something at one time after i forgot to make a note of it anywhere except on the computer.

if you have a dvd writer you can even move game save directories onto a dvd and just copy them back after you reinstall the game.

what i did on my brother's computer when i reformatted was copy all my files (installation, downloads, etc.) onto his hard drives through the network. After installing windows and getting everything ready again, i just copy the files back so i won't have to pop in any cd's or install any drivers :)

  • fatalblitzzfatalblitzz Member Posts: 128
or you can do what glube mentioned, but not all people have dvd burners image

    XFX GeForce 6600 / 128MB DDR / PCI Express / VGA / DVI / TV Out / Video Card

  • fatalblitzzfatalblitzz Member Posts: 128
i'd try www.koolance.com, but there are many other sites that sell liquid cooling. Try searching google with the keyword of "liquid cooling" or some sort image

  • SaigonshakesSaigonshakes Member Posts: 937

Dein, I belive you can get a GeForce 6800 for around $300. FRom what I've seen that is the best card in that price range. Try Newegg.com or pricewatch.com. You should be able to find one.

  • fatalblitzzfatalblitzz Member Posts: 128

ATi is coming out with the x800XL or something...it is a slimmed down version of the x800 and will be replacing the x700XT. Has 12 pixel pipelines and runs for about 250$. Not sure if it's better thant he 6800 saigon referred, but it's still worth a try

  • SaigonshakesSaigonshakes Member Posts: 937

Didn't hear about that fatal. That may just give the regular 6800 a run for its money. I belive that would even be a bit cheaper as well.

Any idea when that card hits the market? If it is already on the market could I get a link? It has me intrigued....
