what about mouse targeting?.because one of the things i hated about swtor was the mouse targeting, ive used mouse targeting in every mmo ive played and i tried it in swtor and i dont know,it just sucked compared to tab targeting.and i hate the tab targeting in swtor
but like ive said.unless they changed it since i last heard, you dont actually need to target people to hit them
IF OP is serious, I feel very sad for his jadedness when it comes to gaming. Not seeing the positives GW2 is brining to the genre by removing the tedious and bad mechanics that MMO's are notorious for must suck.
Hopefully you find your niche OP.
havent played mmorpgs in a while. sigh... pretty much all of the are bad. the ones with money dont innovate and the ones without it dont have enough to do so. i dont know how many swtor style fails will we need till the suits realise "hey you cant just copy WOW anymore people are getting bored" as long as herp derps keep getting caught in the hype this wont stop.
Or perhaps you just want to troll. There is plenty of flavor out there. If none of them suit your taste maybe you should do something else you like. Coming on here and trolling is not about the state of the genre it is about you hating and trying to ruin fun for others simply because you can.

I completely second Aionix's sentiment.
I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.
This is a troll thread. RebelScum99 may have a point about beta etc. But the OP is just being dishonest. Using fake strawmen of aspects but ignoring context to continue controversy.
Anyway the shallow nature of Beta impressions is what it is. But when a guy comes into a forum and post dishonest stuff liek this don't expect it to be anything but shitstorm. Has nothing to do with the nature of Betas.
He could do this kind of crap after release and get the same thing.
if you look at it closely combat is still tab target combat but every class has a skill called dodge that allows you to avoid and ability... it is really not that amazing or innovative or different at all
dynamic events are not dynamic. they are like invasions/rifts in rift. they have minimal affect on the world and they just keep repeating. boring...... fighting some huge dragin called the shatterer or fending off centaur ad nauseum is not dynamic.
3 faction pvp is good. the issue with pvp in most themepark mmorpgs is that there is no lasting impression on the world due to pvp events. its not like i can rent out shops and lease the use of the forge and workbench after capturing a castle...... the pvp is largely meaningless. the game does not take advantage of mmorpg genres ability to provide a living breathing world. 3 faction PvP will play out like an objective based FPS or MOBA, not like an ongoing war between 3 factions.
On the one hand it's good to see someone on this site who thinks for themselves instead of jumping on the absolute bandwagons that exist on this site but I swear about a week ago I saw a thread that seemed to say the exact same thing you are saying now and I don't mean just the crux but like word for word.

It's a decent game. But it's not an mmorpg. So I agree with you in that regard. But again, this is a massively multiplayer video game, or mmoVG. This is why you are sensing the shallow aspects of the game.

so now you are referring to GW2 as a swtor style fail that is a WoW copy? Can you get more serious then this?
Give them some time. Apparently ANet changed the cash shop interface and, judging by the screen shots, those sweet aviator sunglasses should be enough to start the whole "GW2 is P2W" thing all over again. A game is just not P2W without sweet aviator glasses and a top hat.
Also, there are a couple of beta events going on this weekend. The forums should be back to normal on Monday.
I saw the udpated cash shop and I could not stop thinking about how I was going to use my credit card so hard to get the "Box o' Fun" and "Inventor's Sunglasses" and the "Pirate Mate's Outfit" with the express intent of winning the hell out of the game.
I also hope to hear shortly about being able to P2W the dancing moas that Kappa the asura female trainer had. Can you imagine those in WvW?
"Loading screens" are not "instances". Your personal efforts to troll any game will not, in fact, impact the success or failure of said game.
Yet, whenever I read the word awsome related to an MMO, I must think of Paul Barnett advertising WAR. So maybe the OP wants to tell us, that GW2 is as awsome, as Warhammer Online was promised to be
Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need.
The massive amounts of people who are either interested in this game or already own it, most of which will never see your thread, disagree with you. Who are you trying to convince, because it's not working.

You're confusing point with opinion. You really don't have a point, you're just sharing your opinion. There's nothing to refute. Sorry people are bashing you. You are correct in assuming your opinions are yours.
1) it is FACT that gw2 combat is tab target with a dodge skill
2) it is FACT that dynamics events just keep on repeating with minimal lasting effect on the game world
3) it is FACT that you can not rent out shops or lease a forge after you capture a castle
im sorry but provided FACTS. its not my fault almost everyone here is so blinded by fanboyism.
1) Yes you can tab target in GW2. However, you can also just cast a spell, and the spell will fly in the direction your character is pointing if you do not have a target. It's a mixture of both systems. I know I didn't always tab target.
2) Yes it is fact. However, nobody ever said that the dynamic events never repeated. However, due to the variety of the events some will repeat often and some won't repeat often, some are on a timer, whereas some require certain conditions to be met before the dynamic events occur. There's events ranging from escorting caravans, to kill bandits trying to take over and/or destroy a farm, to protecting a bridge. I would say a bridge that's out has a pretty significant effect on the world. I obviously cannot be permanent, nor can it be out for a year as it's rebuilt.
Anet has stated their number one goal is too make a game that's fun. They aren't trying to make a realistic game that makes 100% in the real world. It's called fantasy for a reason, so Anet can break standard rules for the sake of fun. They cannot make anything have a very long effect on the world. Can you imagine how many people would be pissed if they cannot get to a merchant to buy that jar of bees because it's going to take 2 weeks to just get that merchant back?
Heck, the day/night cycle is shortened. I believe the day/night cycle is on a 4 hour cycle last I knew. This way those that play at night won't always be playing at night, and those that play during the day play during the day.
Anet has also stated that dynamic events grow in variety and complexity beyond the first couple zones. You can already see this going from Queensdale to Kessex Hills. And that some events will be tied to day/night cycle as well.
So in short, no it's not just RIFT/Warhammer. I'd accept the argument that it's a combination and an evolution of RIFT's Rifts and Warhammers Public Quest system.
3) Yes this is fact. However, Anet never stated you could do that... You're guild can take over castles in WvW. Post-release, Anet plans on adding Guild Halls and more advanced personal housing. However, Anet never said you could open up your own trading posts or whatever.
From what it sounds like, you are trying to take GW2 as something it was never meant to be. This is obviously evident by your third argument. It may not be that awesome to you, but that's merely your opinion. I'm not here to change your opinion, neither is anyone else. However, one thing we will comment on (or in some cases laugh at because this has been brought up at least 1000 times) is areas you misrepresent GW2 for what it's not suppose to be.
If GW2 is not a game you want to play, don't play it. It's that simple. Do you really need to post on the forums and announce your displeasure and try to pursuade other people to agree with you? Especially in a GW2 fan forum... It's great that you realized GW2 was not a game for you. I hope you find a game that you like. I, personally, had a blast playing GW2, and I look forward to playing it again soon.

Since there's a lot of just "you're a troll lolol" and not a lot of clear disputing of your "facts" allow me to rebut.
1) The game can target with the tab key, yes. There is a dodge skill, yes. However, it's not auto-lock ala wow. Positioning, los, the direction you are facing, and the presence of any other opponents in the field of view affect things. In other words, if You fire a shot at my team mate, and I get in front of it, I get hit, even though they were targeted. While your two facts are correct, that's like saying "icebergs are made of water, therefore I can drink an iceberg". You''re missing some thngs.
2) That is NOT a fact. if certain events are not completed, they will spawn new events and WILL have an impact on the world (albeit temporary). Both players and NPCs can and will vie to control waypoints, overrun towns, etc. No, you won't permanently change the game forever for doing an event, but it does make a different. The newbie zones are poor examples of how it works, because they repeat WAY too often right now, esp since everyone's in them. Event timers scale to zone pop, I believe.
3) Truth. All transactions taken place on the auction house. There are no player shops or anything like that. This isn't that kind of game. If that's what you are looking for, this isn't the game for you.
I'm going to use your definition of a WoW clone from another post to address your implication of GW2 as another WoW clone.
wow clone:
- tab target combat Yes, but also can attack without targetting.
- fast levelling Yes
- easy No (at least not for most people I talked too)
- lfg, lots of fast travel Yes
- fixed single class system Yes
- quest hubs--world split up into level appropriate zones Eh... Is this 2? If so No and Yes respectively
- quest based levelling: gear, coin and exp rewards No
- mundane repetitve kill x of y quests No
- bound items: no player economy No clue what this means. There definitely will be a economy though
(OP) Well i can see people are still being misinformed on this title. Talk about a dead horse.
Targeting can be tab it is not by default, it's LOS, you can manually change it if you want.
Dynamic events ARE dynamic they aren't rifts with the same exact things happening over and over again, they have split off meta events that occur half way through the event chain to decide what will happen next. They also have hints given you by the nearby npc's instead of being locked into a cinematic pressing the spacebar. The DE's aren't kill all the mobs to seal the rift or do the exact number of same things for a community group quest the quests actually CHANGE, you have that all wrong i'm afraid. OH and the world does move on without you, if you fail a DE there are consequences, not some repeat on a timer.
And finally, PVP is three faction because they wanted it to be an esport, It's much more fun imo then what is provided by other games right now. Not to mention you actually have to THINK about what you are doing when in combat.
it is FACT that gw2 combat is tab target with a dodge skill
it is FACT that dynamics events just keep on repeating with minimal lasting effect on the game world
it is FACT that you can not rent out shops or lease a forge after you capture a castle

1)not forget to say that select any mob/enemy is just a OPTION. dont need to tab target or select with mouse, not melee or range class and work great. so if you use tab target is a tab target game ifo you dont use isnt. the reason why is called a tab target hybrid combat system.
about the rest who cares? he dont care about the game why explain things to this guy? if you saw his history posts aparently he know everything about game...

- crafted items weaker than loot items, crafting ussually afterthought Nope
- instance focussed: raids, dungeons, battlegrounds; open world largely unused Nope
- gear grind through numerous tiers-- purchase with tokens/rep earnt in instanced pvp/pve Nope
- 2 faction Nope
