All these posts and it all basically boils down to the same thing as Iphone vs Android vs Windows phone. Different package and slightly different interface but they all do the same basic things, yet some will martyr themselves rather than use the competitors' product.
For me, it is simply that the game looks way too much like Free Realms. I am the last person that would judge a game so quickly based on graphics, but for some reason I simply can't get past that...and that may be a good thing where the genre is at a point where it is so saturated with choices that someone can choose not to play due to a minor issue like that.

OP, have you tried each of the races? Maybe a different origin story?
I personally felt pretty immersed when I started failing events and having cascades of events changing down the line... but certainly in the starter zones I did not feel that way.
When i got a little bored of PvE (I tend to get bored of fighting mobs in general), I hopped into WvWvW and had a ton of fun, then went back to PvE to finish off my story quest in the area I had been in.
Dunno, I have really been enjoying it... I hope you can figure out what is boring about it for you so that can change!
There are other things to do in GW2 than quest. I would recommend ignoring hearts and go exploring ( you get decent experience for that). Try crafting out as well.
There is so much more to do than simply fight battle after battle after battle and then burn yourself out. Play the game like an RPG, not like a typical MMO. You'll find it much more rewarding.
Have you tried leatherworking? How was getting leather mats in the norn starting zone without using the AH?
You're kidding, right? My bank is full of leather I don't even use since I'm not leatherworker...
Poeple are complaining about it. The norn starting zone doesn't have a lot. IF you have gotten a lot in the norn starting zone, tell us how you got it. Be specific. It's easy to say you have a lot of it.
I PLAYED the game. Yep, nothing more, nothing less.
I just checked, I have 170 leather scraps in bank (of the lowest level leather) - just from looting and salvaging.
Great. You claim it. Tell me specifics and see if it can be repeated by someone else. Otherwise, I might think you are full of it.

I didn't find the game boring but I didn't see all the innovation that people seem to post about. I got to 30 in a previous beta and it mostly is the same MO, do quests - level. The even system isn't innovative, we've seen that type of stuff in other MMO's.
That being said, it will be a solid MMO with a great launch and good retention.

Color me indifferent as well. The game just does little for me. Watching the people who are going ape over this game like it's going to be a completely new experience reminds me so much of "Throwing rocks at cars" scene from the Bebe's breast's episode of South Park.

Played about 3 hours of it today and I must say I really got bored. Event upon event upon event and it repeats itself through out the entire game. It is like they took WoW quests and changed them into scripted events, how dull. You do the same thing over and over again. They need to make events more exciting. Event bosses are boring as hell, they just stand there and spew things out at you. I wouldn't exactly call that exciting. Long time fan here but I'm afraid ArenaNet has dropped the ball on this one. Never thought I would see that happen. Graphics are nice but graphics alone do not make a good mmo. Perhaps I'll check out Dust 514 or Planetside 2. I think I am done with the basic fantasy mmo with a twist. These types of mmos have been done before time and time again.

Go Past lvl 15 the events become really nice then
People don't have patience anymore. If it doesn't give them instant satisfaction, i'ts a failure of a game. It's so ironic too, because these are the same people who complain about, wow-style, instant gratification, themeparks. lol.

Yea Im reading a lot of " I only played for a few hours " type posts and they dont seem to realize all they were messing around with was a tutorial of sorts. I cant tell you the last time I really had an awe inspiring experience playing a tutorial. Its easy to not see it, but thats probably what it really is before the game actually opens up.
I played EvE for around 6 months and enjoyed it. But if I judged it entirely on my first few hours of game play I wouldnt have lasted longer than well......a few hours of game play. Plus a lot of people seem to alternatively having loads of fun. In the early stages of the game which says something.
Worst of all, most of these people complaining will probably buy the game and play the daylights out of it anyways. You can get a key with some effort on the net so I hear, but most have had to pre purchase to get into beta. I find that kind of ironic.

Just like any other MMO about to release then.
I have heard similar excuses by fans of just every other MMO out there. But truth is that if a MMO doesn't grab you in first 10 to 15 levels then people are not going to wait for fun to happen. A MMO either grabs you from get go or it doesn't. First levels are the most cruicial. I remember how SWTOR fans were ripped apart for giving similar reasoning. 'Hey it is just a tutorial'...'get out of starter planets first than talk...'fun starts after lvl 15'....duh..please!
Yeah, I was hooked by level 2. The tutorial is literally about 1 level and then you are in the world to go where you wish. It is fun and has amazing atmosphere.
I have no idea what is beyond the 1-15 areas (trying not to do too much in beta) other than what I have read/watched but if it's simply a more complex version I've what I've experienced then I'm all in.
There's not much in the way of tutorials so you better read up or get some buddies. It's not an easy game to play (you better move and dodge or you WILL die A LOT), but it's an easy game to get into because the world is alive and everyone is working together.
It just really isn't exciting at all. Loved Guild Wars 1 but this is not cutting it. The dodge and roll combat is like console gameplay slapped onto a pc. Meele is still severely broken. When you solo anything more than 2 mobs at you are dead as meele. Overall I think this game was meant for the younger generation of players, you know the ones who are just starting out. ArenaNet seems to be catering to the younger crowd. They want to make simple easy games for the casuals. I need something more intense, more mature themed to keep me interested.
wait what ? u said smth about mellee being hard to play , then u said about this game being casual coz it caters younger audiences . FYI, range class would need to think on their feet when handling more than 2 mobs .. So that contradicts everything you just said.
Nothing is simple with WvWvW gameplay , but i'll pass tat as it might be subjective, but 'matured-themed' , what do you mean by that ? t
I agree. The combat wasn't what i expected, it's not like action combat, not close to Tera or any other console action game. Zones felt very compact and not stretched out enough.

This is the same thing they said about Tera.
Actually they say same thing about just any MMO about to release. I believe that game should grab you from beginning and one shouldn't wait for the fun to happen.

Is Leather a problem? Really?
Then I'll be filthy rich when the game opens, because I have a LOT of Leather. In fact, of most collectible materials.
My only real complaint about the game so far is that Dagger Necro builds are much less effective than I thought they would be,
Ah, and Shaman's Rookery. Damn that place!

Have you tried crafting?
I thought I had lots of mats till I tried to craft. Learned fast that they disapper quickly. Plus you need blues for some trades.
MMORPG has reptitive gameplay, in other news, rain is wet.

There's really no point in arguing it with him guys.
Over 400,000 people are playing it right now and beg to disagree, so who gives a shit .
And that's just the second beta.
Hah. Hahaha. This thread cracks me up.
I'm sorry you don't enjoy the game.
Hah. Hahaha.

I can't wait until it releases, so the game and it's fans can finally stop trying to sell it to everyone and just play the thing.

Somebody's gotta take down Zhaitan.
I agree with you, release this game and see what happens with it fans then.
My other case is this though.
This game might not apeal to everyone, however if your having fun with it, roll with it.
After giving this game 24 hours of my time, I know what to expect in this style of mmorpg from ArenaNet.
I have come to the conclusion though that GW2 isn't going to be the one that gives me the satisfaction I need, however it's
a good game for players that like this style of game (mechanics and graphics).
The day I find a mmo like UO (classic), SWG PreCu or a Eve but on a plantery basis, I will be hooked from the get go.
To me, all these new mmo's released after 2004 feel the same with a different skin (again, that is just me).
But if you like it, good for you, at least now you got a game that tickles your pickle.

your grasp on the obvious astounds me.....lol
There are times when one must ask themselves is it my passion that truly frightens you? Or your own?
I agree. The combat wasn't what i expected, it's not like action combat, not close to Tera or any other console action game. Zones felt very compact and not stretched out enough.
