If a game goes F2P after initial release of not being F2P I will never touch it.
Your really missing out. I currently play several F2P games that launched P2P and I dont pay a dime. I get a lot of enterainment value for absolutely free
And you sir and people like you are the reason I hate F2P the rest of us who do pay a monthly sub or buy something in the shop in a game we play to support the devs and there hard work carry the moochers like you.

Honestly, i really wouldn't mind if they came up with a FTP model after a full actual expansion pack came out that would offer alternate advancement with better gear/advancement. Then allow people to play everything but that alternate area....kinda like AO did with Shadowlands....was a perfect way to get people hooked and then they would sub anyway....I did it myself.
The game is horrible IMHO. I predict it will go F2P before SWTOR does.
its a much better game than SWTOR and I'm a die hard star wars nut... and as long as I can enjoy it till GW2 is out Ill be happy.. couldn't even get 2 months of enjoyment from SWTOR
I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg
if this game had of come out before AOC it would still have been weak ...@ least AOC had 20 good levels .This game will be f2p before Santa arrives
If they decide to go f2p they will piss off a lot of people.
And they will attract alot of people and make more money. These companies don't go F2P out of charity, they make more money than they do with the subs or they wouldn't do it. They wait for a year or so in order to get the box price and sub for a couple of months, but after that, they figure they will make more money as F2P. I mean if they weren't making more money, there would be no reason to do it.

SWTOR is way more fun for me than this turd. 3rd beta that literally pisses me off with how bad it is. Nothing good to say about it at this point.

Then they should take the EQ2 F2P model to ensure there are 0 freeloaders.

Yeah SWTOR at least had fun combat mechanics an NPC companion and animations were more fun along with a coherent class annd zone story. TSW needs work.
The idea behind TSW's longevity is to grind instances for gear as one of the loading screens claims it is the best and to grind quests over and over for SP/AP, that is why they are all repeatable. With a side of PvP. When combat is so boring, good luck with that.
I just got a glitch in TSW where I am walled in so can't run and must bunny hop to move foward, I just exited, which may fix it but that is still a big bug. Crashed 3 times with 4.2 Ghz duo core, radeon hd 6970. 12GB ram, 64 bit win 7, Meh 2 weeks before launch.
So funny half the people (non gw2 preachers) think the game will be kicken from 1 year to ever. The otherhalf (gw2 preachers) think the game wont last 6 months lol.
I put 6 months, the beta is not very impressive at all, and what you see in the beta probally won't differ much from release, its to close for them to change anything major. P2p mmo's just aren't making it anymore now a days is another reason why I said 6 months. I am honestly surprized swtor is not f2p yet. The problem is now a days everyone is getting sick of the themepark or McMMO as someone called it on another forum. I think the problem lies in the gameplay though, the generic mmorpg combat system like all theses mmo's have now and most have coming out (including gw2) is just getting plain boring. Tera was on the right track, but their problem was after the combat newness wore off the game lacked anything else to offer, behind the combat its just another McMMO/wow clone. People like choices, I'd like to have a choice of 2-3 diff area's to quest in at any level bracket, insted of being shoehorned down the exact same path everyone and their mother goes down. Its also why I feel diablo 3 is a piece of shit, you have 0 real decisions you can make about your char, TSW is simmlar in a way since you can get all the skills though it will take a fair amount of time to do that so your initial so many skill points do matter.
Now the last mmorpg I had actual fun with the combat was Phantasy Star universe/online. Mostly because they aren't the typical garbage that keeps being made today. I'd love a true action rpg mmo, there is PSO2 but thats pretty much the only one on the horizon I know of, well that and continent of the 9th. Anyway, I honestly expect tsw to flop simmlarly like swtor did, just because there really is no depth at all to themepark mmo's. I'd kill for a decent sci-fi mmo, to this day the only decent sci-fi mmo I have played (and i have played pretty much every mmo that has a english version) was anarchy online. I'd kill for an AO2 to come out.

Only problem is ones like Lotro and ddo where like 95% of the game is locked out to you unless you sub or buy adventure packs to unlock quest lines. Those ones I hate because they are biliantly trying to nickle and dime their playerbase.

Hopefully before launch because...OMG... game is freakin horrid. Wow, glad I got a free key to play and did not have to preorder like some people.
Hmm what is it that you didnt like? How long did you play? did you play? probably not....
The problem with tsw is, well its just the newest generic themepark, the combat gets old really quick, though I must admit I was kinda impressed with the UI, it was neat how they did it. TSW really offers nothing special that you cannot find in a f2p mmo these days. Though at least it wasn't as boring as swtor was, I was falling asleep sitting up in combat because it was so mind-numbingly boring. Glad I didn't buy that piece of shit lol.

As opposed to allowing freeloaders. [mod edit] There should be no way at all that someone should be able to play a game for 0 cash when the person next to him puts *any* cash into the game.
Which is why the EQ2/LOTRO pay scheme is perfect.

You never know, Funcom is a hard company to "read". What i do sense is that the game will fail in P2P business.
I wouldn't say its dead, it probally had a higher population than aoc did before aoc went f2p, and probally still does. I played AO a few months back still was a very healthy population, you have to remember that rubi-ka is quite large compared to most of the theme park garbage now a days. Most of the people playing AO aren't sitting in towns, they out doing stuffs.

Fanboys (and I was one, but I'm good at being objective) are bent on this idea that it's a niche game, that FC didn't make this game for everyone. I know that that's true.
But FC didn't make it for the few thousand that will be playing it once people have seen how awful the combat is. How, just like so many other games, they released certain details in carefully crafted statements. They told us that there's over 500 skills! Omg Yay.
You choose two weapons and pretty much run with those. Yes, you can change these, but you're still limited to the skills from the two weapons for the most part. Most of your actives require a certain weapon time, and many of your passives are tied to actives.
The diehards are really going to get their feelings hurt, considering they've purchased lifetime purchases, when the game is f2p and slowly updating 9 months - a year from now.
I've also never quite gotten over this bs cash shop + sub model. Way too greedy.
Spec'ing properly is a gateway drug. 12 Million People have been meter spammed in heroics.
What I don't get is why they haven't yet revealed their cash shop. The only things we know are:
1) This game launches in 2 weeks.
2) Funcom's most recent financial projections included an expectation that, on average, players would be paying $5.25 a month for items from the cash shop.
3) Cash shop purchases are on top of a suscription fee, meaning that they're expecting over $20/month per user in fees.
4) They have talked about "convenience" and "nice to have" items but these are open to interpretation.
The question is, what are they putting in there that somehow makes it so lucrative for them? And why aren't they showing this in the beta?
"Loading screens" are not "instances". Your personal efforts to troll any game will not, in fact, impact the success or failure of said game.
