Wrong. There are many MMO's in which you can cast while moving, might not be every single move, but still some.

WoW has mages able to use scorch while moving, it also have shamans being able to cast any spell while moving.

GW2 has full casting while moving too.

Tera has some moving while casting too at the later levels.

Most single player games have casting while moving.

Yet, all of these still look better while moving and casting than TSW.

No it doesn't.... Sometimes I just don't know anymore...  Did you read what I said TSW is the only with all. How the hell can I be wrong when you say some?

You're basically dismissing all of GW2's abilities which can be cast while moving because a few abilities require you to stay in place. You can still cast most of the abilities while moving so the concept is really the same, yet ArenaNet has managed to somehow make the animations look fluid and not robotic, while Funcom, and you, are making excuses.

    Nice try though.

Not at all. all games have somethings you can do while moving... TSW is the only where you can move and use all abilities. It's ok fearless. See you on the TSW forums.

Cooper thinks people won't see the logical fallacy.

"TSW has all abilities castable from running" has nothing at all to do with many other MMOs having on the fly animations for some, many, or most abilities that you can cast on the fly or  while running without stopping.  Having "all abilities" doesn't disable a company from animating them correctly if anything it should enable them to animate them more efficiently as the same rules and systems apply to every move.

If anything cooper is showing how lazy Funcom was when they did the animations.   It should be easier to animate 100% while running moves than it would be to animate 90% of one class and maybe 10% of another and 70% of another.  Also I'm sure it is easier to animate while running moves with no detachment when all body types are the same rather than some extra large or small and different bones for different races.

No Cooper thinks the animations are good, damn good, and I know FC did something that hasn't been done in any mmo before, moving while using all abilities.

I also know that 99% of the post about TSW animations comes from people who bought GW2  without a release date, and that is the only immeasurable thing they cling to dis TSW.

ummm, Vanguard, TSW copied from Vanguard even the slow movement while casting.

I'm sorry, I know that you're trying to find at least something to spin positively but that "casting all abilities while moving" does nothing for me. Most games allow you to attack as you move. Having to stop and cast some abilities actually makes the game more difficult.

Ok, this is easy to sum up. The animations goes as following.

    Guild Wars 2:

    http://www.ferrari.com/English/GT_Sport%20Cars/CurrentRange/f12berlinetta/Pages/f12berlinetta.aspx T

This sums up GW2 pretty nicely.

    The Secret  World:

    http://www.automotiveaddicts.com/5927/cash-for-clunkers-stays-alive-gets-additional-2-billion-in-relief

This is how TSW is played by animations, combat, and whatnot.

Hope you enjoyed this as much as I have!

In a world of sharp knives, you would be a spoon.

Such fanboyism on both sides in this thread. Having played both games and enjoyed both I can say that the combat system in both games are practically identical - I would say TSW has a more complex combat system due to the management of resource while GW2 only has to manage cooldowns but im sure I would get swarmed by the rabbid heathens who are only out to prove one game to be good.

Suffice to say, TSW and GW2 are similar in so many respects that if you wish to slag one off, you inadvertantly slag the other off too...

I have no intention of joining the argument. I just wanna say that I'm amazed at cooper's tenacity. He appreciates things about this game that most others dislike.

Another logical fallacy as GW2 has nothing to do with the secret world, this isn't highlander where there can only be 1 MMO.  GW2 preorders rank #4 while secret world ranks  #46 for total preorders http://www.vgchartz.com/preorders/so they wouldn't be alone. A lot of players will play both anyway, like I said TSW's population will drop when GW2 comes out, happens in all games.   Wait until GW2 comes out and ganks many of the TSW subscribers before worrying about it.

The secret world has the most awful combat I have ever played in an MMO, period. And I've played a shit load of MMO's.

TSW ties with everquest 1 and warhammer for weakest animations and combat.

We know it is underdone and just bad, the NPCs have very few animations and no recoil when hit by PCs and most of the animations are the exact same and even then they feel weak.

A lot of players will quit TSW after launch because combat is boring, by a lot I mean over half so it isn't apples and oranges, the combat is subpar.

you done? stop wasting peoples time in the TSW forums if you dont like it ... if you're not going to buy it, then leave the forum space to someone who will... I never post in GW2 forums... waste of my time, I think the game is caca but thats my opinion and I keep it to myself.

These forums aren't for circle jerking bud, they're to discuss both good and bad merits of a game for someone who might be looking to invest some time. I'd be pissed if I came to this forum, found the OPs post and a bunch of fanbois praising the combat; decided to buy the game and then found out they were straight up lying.

Instead you find a bunch of GW2 fanboys in the thread lieing that they are bad.

WTF is this the unoffical GW2 fansite? This is a hell of a illustration of the GW2 community.

I'm not concerned with GW2.  This thread isn't about GW2.  This thread is about how the combat and animations in TSW are poor.

This will fall on deaf ears here.

I have no interest in GW2. I did not preorder it nor do I ever plan on playing it. I have been in the CB for TSW for weeks now and I will say that the animations are ugly as hell. Doesn't mean the game sucks juat that the animations do.

it don't get much better than swtor animations ;) Good call. One of the two things they nailed imo. In all honesty they are better than both the games we've been talking about in this thread.

I wouldn't say it sums up most posters' sentiment. All I see is fanboys.

However, I wholeheartedly agree. The combat is so boring I logout after a short duration of play. It very much is a rotation style.

Why must a game finally have fun quests at the expense of any joy in combat. The combat system is like nothing I've played before, but different as it is, it's not actually good.
