downed mechanic

Does anyone else think that this feature sucks in pvp?I think it is horrible and they need to 86 it.I don't want to have to run right on top of my enemy and push a special key to kill someone.Just let me use my class skills.It really bothers me.

    In Structured pvp this needs to be disabled, in WvW and Pve i dont mind it.

    Reason that in WvW you can change the outcome even when all things seems lost.

     

    I was attacking a keep guild master and we got attacked in the rear, half the team was death, but we still managed to get up and turn it around.

    That was when i got convinced its not bothering me.

     

     

    But in Battlegrounds this option needs to be disabled tbh.

    Never really thought about it. If I'm ranged I can just kill him anyway. Downed state is not death yet, it is just mostly dead.

    I'd prefer being able to either use a finishing move or kill a downed enemy by beating it up normally. Still, I don't mind the downed state. Everyone has it, so it's not unfair. They should balance some of its skills, however.

      Yeah,but if someone else is closer they will get the kill.You can beat them within an inch of their lif e and then another player can come up and deliver the death blow.

    You can just use your class skills, but it takes a little while for you to kill somebody this way, which gives people time to go over and pop them back up and keep them fighting.  They can also keep dealing small amounts of damage in this state, so they they can be annoying to leave sitting around in a team fight.

     

    And no, I don't think this sucks in PvP.  I think this actually makes PvP better.

    you will never get the kill if someone is closer.And I disagree that it makes pvp better.I think it ruins pvp.

  • No I think its really good in PvP, it adds a whole second dimension and really adds a feel of momentum and teamwork.

     

    You know you can final kill people with damage right?

    I think it's a good system, but i'm not sure i like last iteration where every one have cc like ability and some like the guardian have aoe cc, coupled with the fact reviving is probably as fast as stomping. Which make out numbered fight impossible to win, and even if you take down one or 2 guys, they will get revived, and you won't, which render outnumbered fight impossible to effectively win (and really player skill doesn't matter here, downed state last quiet long and even if you team mates are terrible in 1vs2 situation they will probably be able to rez you anyway). This is my only grip, but for the rest i think they made a great job with it, and i'm with the people that think that it do add a lot to pvp, and i'm pretty sure it won't go away, it's part of the game now, deal with it honestly, so focus on giving good feed back rather than asking it to go.

    Imo downed state should last a shorter time in pvp at least (make it so you take twice as much damage for ex), rezing should last longer than stomping by quiet a margin. They probably can boost bandaging by as much and make it a lot harder to interupt in counter part to this (so that people have to focus on survivng), because as it stand now a downed guy is like an imobilized that can deal as much damage and cc as if you were alive, which i'm not sure make any sense anymore. That state have grown a bit out of hand in this last itteration imo. SO they should bring it back to a "downed stat" if you get what i mean, you could probably deal some damage and cc but it sure should not be your main focus, or if you do so maybe have your second health degenerate as fast (maybe like the life force necro system).

    Its a team game, its about capturing points and killing people not getting the most kills, and whether you like it or not is does add an extra layer of stratagy to the match (for smart teams).

    I didn't like the Fight to Live at all. I found it quite annoying and it took me out of the combat feeling of the game.  The rest of combat seemed fine to me.

    I atually dislike it in both in PvP and PvE.

     

    Intially I liked it, but longer I played more I started to dislike it.

    Doesn't bother me at all. I like to annoy people who are trying to help their friends get up on their feet with stuns and knockbacks. I can leave a guy in downed state, wait for his friend to come over and get 2 kills at price of one. It's a wonderful distraction as well. 

    I'll take downed state over silly combat resurection spells anyday.

    This same arguement, with the same canned replies seems to be showing up twice a week now.

    It's a great mechanic and introduces another layer of strategy to PvP. Most people will learn to adapt and will come to appreciate the added layer.

    Remember, you can still defeat a downed player with damage, you don't have to use a finishing move to defeat them. They essentially have a DoT effect on them while down, have limited skill use and a delay before they can use the channeled, easily interruptible skill 4 HoT effect. If you are good enough to down a player and keep your head about you, you should have no problem with the follow through of beating them into a defeated state!

    Is the other side quick to come to the aid of downed team mates? Well, they have to make themselves pretty vulnerable to do so. I think a viable solution to teams that quickly rush to team revive downed friends is to punish them with AoE, or thwart their efforts with CC. Focus Spike a rapid response reviver a couple times and you'll break them of the habit pretty quickly.

    This really is a case of learn to adapt!

    The only problem, although a HUGE problem, with downed mechanic is that it makes 1v2 & 1v3 situations impossible. Doesn't matter as much in structured but in WvW you will have to avoid fights because of the downed mechanic.

    Yeah I'm sure it must have been purely because of the downed state you got owned when outnumbered.

    I don´t care since it is fair for everyone, but I wouldn´t miss it if they disabled it in structured PvP.

    I like it because it requires you to weigh in this factor as well into your combat actions. But I guess the only thing some players care about is their kill count.

    A certain portion of the mmo community does not like to die. It's no fun to them, thus the downed system and res's for everyone!

    I like it. It reminds me the bleeding/death mechanics of pen and paper dungeons and dragons.

    Guild wars 2 is about the team not the individual, you got to get that selfish "me me me" mentality out of your mind.

    I don´t think that is why they added the down state at all. I think it is a try to make things more interesting instead, as you die you have one last chanse so survive... 

    The rezzes for everyone is more practical, it is since the trinity mecahnics don´t exist and since each group should  be able to consist of any combination of classes it really is the only alternative.

    ANET have really thought about these features but the down state still needs tuning and possibly to be disabled in some PvP games.

    If the game would be ablout players not dying then the dungeons would be easier.

    I think it's good and I hope they don't change it.  People have been screaming for unique and different mechanics in MMO's and when a game finally adds one, some folks beg for it to be removed.  Ugh.

    If in 1982 we played with the current mentality, we would have burned down all the pac man games since the red ghost was clearly OP. Instead we just got better at the game.

    Downed state to me is just a little more fun when in a group, especially in chat. Before it was "I'm about to die", and now you can say "I'm going down". The little bit of extra notification  given to your friends gives them time to help you out. Also, there is some challenge involved in assisting someone who is down and fighting mobs. I like it in PvE.

    Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
