Broken and unfinished? Are you even playing? Yeah the game is horribly broken.

Oh god no, the Overflow servers are ticking me off. Games still great though, Traders been working for a bit now and Atlan would know that if he actually played instead of spewing stuff he heard somewhere. Mail system was spotty first and second day of head start but has been working since.
And no... no one would accuse a game of being a failure because they had to stop sales because they had to many players. Well accept the most irrational hater I guess. Oh look...
I'm not seeing a lot of "bugs" that affect game play tbh. The guild system is an issue but that's about it so far.
I am impressed at the commitment to maintaining a smooth experience here. This isn't fixing a broken game.. this is protecting the game and their infrastructure from being broken by the throngs.
During the BWE phase they dramatically expanded the server support and they are now prepared to do so again. They know what they are doing and they are obviously determined to avoid having an overwhelming influx of players damage the experience for those already active. Bravo!
DO you play this game? Yes or no? Or are you just telling what you heard is wrong?
If you are challenging any of what I just said, then I question whether you have played the game past the first zone.
okay. lets group. i'm already grouped and playing with my friends from school, but you can join. and sure. i'll take that item. it'll be like that time i took five seconds out of playing to shout "wts" and mailed this guy a sword while he mailed me 10s.
in case it's not clear, i am challenging everything you have said, and i will go so far as to challenge your assertion that we are playing the same game.
There are actually quite a few issues. Just go to facebook and read any of the comments. There are tons of people who purchased the game and can't login. This has been far from a smooth launch for lots of people. I was one of the people who couldn't log in for a long period of time and that was after getting in game for a few days. They also don't have their forums up yet making getting information difficult without sifting through all of the facebook and twitter stuff. I mean seriously, at the very least they could have the forums up. There are people who have had CS tickets since the last day of headstart and they have not been answered.
Pretty sure they can get access to more servers if required.
Sorry if the rose covered goggles is obscurring the view but come on, their business model is based on selling the game.
Something seems a bit fishy.
Yes, owned by NCsoft, but servers don't just magically appear out of thin air. I'd be willing to bet they already have new servers ordered and on the way to their offices at this very moment. Just because NCsoft owns several other games also doesn't mean that getting the new servers is a matter of a phone call and a newegg order. I'm sure theres a process that NCsoft has for making such demands.

And NCSoft is also in Korea where Anet is in Austin and Seatle. What I'd like to know is what game these GW2 bashers are playing? And how well the launches went for those games?

Aion NA has quite a few empty servers in the US.
Come now, their entire business model is based off of sales. They had a very clear idea of how many sales they had before going live.
So what you are saying is that Anet wasn't smart enough to see that they sold more than they had capacity for?
Pretty sure Anet has done this whole MMO thing before.
And they have already added servers, so we know they can do it.
And they are still allowing digital sales from their site.
This doesn't make sense at all, something is afoot at the circle K.
Pretty sure they can get access to more servers if required.

I really like GW2, but you have to be kidding me saying this "launch" isn't pretty bad. There are tons of people who are not able to log in. Just go to facebook and look at the comments on any post from the devs. The official forums are not up and you have to sift through all of the "blah" on facebook and twitter to find anything out. Why aren't the forums up? What are they waiting on? It isn't headstart. The game has launched. Accounts are compromised and the email changed without the need for a verification from the original email. The mail system is down and the AH has been up and down. The game is called "GUILD" wars and the guild system is bugged and not functioning correctly. I like this game. I really really do, but I am also not so blinded that I don't see the problems right now.

IF Anet was going to use any forums it would be one of the official fan-forums like gw2guru. I know they used them as forums for GW all the time and think they still do.
Broken and unfinished? Are you even playing? Yeah the game is horribly broken.
We should group up. Oh wait....
I have these items I think would help your character. I'll mail them to you. Oh wait....
I'm going to sell all the stuff I have on the trading post. Oh wait....

And it's down again. It was up for almost an hour this time. Maybe within a month it will be working full-time.

ANET already said they are going to launch forums but have not done so because they are worried the extra stress during launch could affect server performance. They are waiting for the initial surge to die down before bringing the forums online. I would link to the article but I'm too lazy to post it. Someone here already posted it in GW2 forum. It actually talks about all issues going on right now, came out yesterday I think.

I guess because there's physical objects involved (and already manufactured), they're trying to sell them out.
.....
Some people here just don't have any idea how massive their undertaking is, as if servers come out of thin air, or can easily be reallocated like that. Be a little more understanding. It's clear though that even considering everything, they still underestimated their sales. They did say they wanted to be Number 1 afterall.
Here's to hoping they iron out the server load issue soon.
They should have waited till it was finished to release TBH.
This being reactive rather than proactive. Who knows when they will iron out the bugs. Things are getting worse rather than better.
The game has been almost entirely bug free for me to level 45, when you exclude the server and infrastructure issues. Those issues could never have been fully realized until launch, so waiting any longer for release would have been pointless.
They did BWEs and stress tests to try to simulate the strains of launch the best they could and they did tweak things as they went. The last BWE was very smooth and the issues we have now were not issues then.
The test now is how quickly they can fix the issues and scale their infrastructure to handle demand for the game. I admit I'm getting a bit impatient on the Trading Post, but I have faith they will get it sorted out pretty soon. If it's not working 90% of the time by the end of next week, then I may be a little less forgiving.
I'm still having a blast though, which helps to minimize the frustrations.
Yep, I wonder how many copies did they already sell for them to make this drastic move!
Maybe they already passed the ncsofts expected sales numbers for the 1st year already? XD
I was wondering the same. I speculated that GW2 would sell 2.5M copies till the end of the year, but looking at it, they might already have crossed that by now I think GW2 is a victim of it's own success :S
I don't think that this will help much. I'm not sure how many boxes are available through retail shops, but if a player really wants to play GW2, they'd get a hardcopy, register and tart to play anyway. Meaning the influx of this new player is delayed by only 2 days.
...or this extra 2 days is just what NCSoft needs to fix their server connection problem from the EU...

Anet is owned by NCSoft.
NCsoft has Aion, Lineage, Lineage 2, Coh/Cov.
Pretty sure they can get access to more servers if required.

You might have a point if they stopped ALL sales but they did not and you do not.

Why dont you just quit the game , or wait a week then.
And it's down again. It was up for almost an hour this time. Maybe within a month it will be working full-time.
The game isn't call Guild Wars because of guilds. Read up on the lore and you'll find out why it's called that -- I'm too lazy to explain.
Bite Me
They stated they were going to have official forums. They just aren't up yet.
You come across as negative, not skeptical/rational, which is people are so prone to disagree with you.
Why don't you just quit the game which you so obviously despise?
Sorry, I meant any BESIDES their own.
