    God forbid Metallica miss $150,000 in record sales over a 2 year period. They only made millions of dollars in court ordered fines from sueing parents of 11 year olds.

    .......... artists make no money off records. the way it works is the Record company assumes 100 percent risk for the album.as a result the artist doesnt even make 1% of the album sales profits, they only make money off tours. which usually the record company pays for the tours because it sells records.

    so i personally think lars was motivated by his record company to make the lawsuit. because if anything illegal MP3 downloads help artists by getting their music across, and therefore promoting tours. i dont see how the artist lose money, but i do see how the record companies lose.
