If I had to guess, I'd say that some other piece(s) of data they have leads them to believe that although a higher % (in some poll data, which doesn't really mean much, considering not every player has taken it. Including myself, and the friends I have playing) want a wipe, there is a higher chance of them staying vs. if they wipe, they may feel the lower % will actually stop playing. /shrug. Like I said, that's my guess...
Coming from someone who plays and loves this game, has spent real money in their cash-shop, and possibly will stop playing if they wipe or roll me back. I'm quite casual, (37 GF and I don't foresee lvl 40 by "tomorrow"...)
I'm not cool with them screwing with my progress, or even rolling me back since I had nothing to do with any exploiting, AND I have supported PWI and planned to continue doing so via cash-shop.
Then you sir are very selfish and the game would be better off without you unfortunately... yeah I know the truth hurts... the game will be forever broken because there is no way they are tracking down every free account that exploiters used to exploit since figuring out the bug weeks ago...
Who in the frak do you think you are to say something like this to someone you don't even know based on a comment that has nothing to do with me, as a player, actively effecting other players in any way, shape, or form?
THIS kind of negative knee-jerk intolerant sociopathism is leading to a generation of very elitist gamers. "the game would be better off without you because I disagree with your opinion on the company's service activity" -- get a life.
Your 1st comment you indicated your want greater than the balance and level playing field wanted by the mass, you also indicated you would not play if you did not receive your want... therefore you're selfish because you put yourself before a much greater number and scream I.. I ... I... so sir if you're emotional over an honest assessment of your words then maybe you should learn how to speak your thoughts clearer and accept I replied to it rightfully.

I agree with him and don't think it's selfish as much as you think the game will be forever doomed.
They will do what they think is right for their game, it's their choice just like it's your choice to voice your disagreements with maturity and not saying someone is selfish for not agreeing with your 'selfish' point of view. Sorry, but the truth hurts.
Yeah because the voice of the many is always selfish compared to the voice of the few... the voice of those who don't dedicate and haven't paid a dime... Move along sir... I'm capable of being wrong in my views but this is not one I'm wrong in.
You use what you believe is an actual percentage when it's nowhere near the truth.
Also, it's not about having a wrong or right opinion. It's about how you reply to someone and call them selfish for their opinion and saying the game would be better without them.
If they wipe, so be it. I'll accept their decision but don't hide your immaturity in the mob mentality.
Lowest I've seen is 60/40 in favor of wipe... how can they not do it...
Because it's their game.
Though I agree with those that say wipe, Eir_S has stated the truth of the matter.
It is their game but we don't have to play it or support it.

I wish more people would notice this. If you don't like a game, you can go play something else. Don't come around bashing something other people like, just because you don't.

Just wanted to point out that you're putting an awful lot of dependency on data that doesn't exist. What Majority of players want what?
Back to the point of this thread ---
If this exploit has existed since "launch", there still is considerable amounts of AD that could not have been in circulation until Founders packs came out. That does, imo, raise a tough question. Is there any way to truly fix this? I mean, I personally don't feel effected by someone who cheats and gets something for free, gets caught and banned, while the rest of the legitimate player-base continues to play on, well, legitimately.. BUT, I do understand that concern others have about the market being completely hosed because of this, and that it's not just about banning or rolling back 'guilty" accounts.

Yeah, but even if they didn't do anything but ban them, the economy will eventually fix itself.
When has a company ever done a wipe on a game thats been released? They're already charging money. This is not a beta game this is full release. Calling it beta is to distract retards who like to defend this game by saying, "Its only beta!"
Originally posted by faxnadu vote like this should be placed on login screen not in forums, majority dont read forums they just play the game.
Why would they make voting on the situation easily accessible when they have no intention of wiping in the first place nor care about what the majority truly supports to begin with?

everyone is aware of smooth launch disquised as open beta nowadays bro.
Legally you cant wipe now that real world transactions have occurred. CB, OB, or Live. They would have a bigger mess if they had to fix money transactions. Who cares anyways close the AH for a month IDC just play the game.

im only stating the issue wich is that there was some vote going on their forums not WHY they should make wipe. read my man.
and also you say that only people who read forums supports the game? like 2 % ? get real dude.
i have been playing mmos where some of these have polls on login screen to ask every *** damn player their opinion about the game or update or whatever and that good. why would you just limit the questions to those who are in forums anyways?
i never think a minute there is any kind of like oh man you are better player than player x cause he is not in forums. sillydoo da iz.
Originally posted by Gravarg A wipe is a little drastic...just ban the people who exploited, and/or rollback to yesterday...

I know what's going on, the exploit has been around forever, but it didn't become super exploitive until recently. You can just ban the idiots that did it, and the economy will fix itself, or you could even wipe the AH and send everyone thier items. It's not going to be hard to find those that used the exploit. Just the sheer number of people who did it is the hard part. And yes it's a F2P, but there are other ways to ban people that are more permanent than just their accounts.
Edit: And I'd actually be glad if they banned the people who did it. I don't want to play with little kids that want to cheat and rush their way to the top.
Edit2: Cryptic should also file a lawsuit for this. These exploiters should be held accountable for what they did, just as much as Cryptic should...I haven't heard almost anyone blame the exploiters... Just because I "could" take my AR-15 down to the store and rob it, doesn't really mean that I should. They have grounds to sue for this, since the exploiters broke the EULA.
Yes banning people in a FTP works really well...
It appears the this thread is inhabited by the 25-40% that voted for no wipe. I don't understand why you wouldn't want a wipe as the game is so damn easy to level/progress in it wouldn't matter. Actually I think this thread just has a bunch of contrarians whom would argue against the majority on anything.
There is no point in a wipe. The game has a pay for advantage cash shop, so it is already 'unfair'. Exploiting for Astral Diamonds, or swiping a credit card and exchanging items for Astral Diamonds. Either way, the economy is artificial and broken, and not based on anything in-game.
Also, do you have any idea how much a wipe would cost them? They would basically have to refund all purchases, outside of founder packs.

excatly , this is another topic and imo they should just suck it up and get on with it watch it sink like bombarded ship and admit their own mistake and focus on new title already i mean thats what they always been doing anyways.
I'd vote roll-back. To just prior to the exploit flare up.
I don't think it's unheard for such a thing to happen in a beta.

Speaking for myself, I wasn't in the 'No' vote. I stated I didn't care either way.
I'm sure the company is brainstorming the best way to control the damage being done (whether it is minimal or not is another matter). I doubt anyone actually LIKES shooting themselves in the foot.
Fact is, you signed an agreement to play their game. Choice is yours to stay with them or move on for not liking their business/PR/CS practices. Voice your dislikes, by all means but it shouldn't mean belittling others who disagree.
Even their forums state it is against their Rules to state, inform exploits etc. seen here;
Really who gives a shit? Forums are renowned for being the vocal minority and Cryptic has long stated that there will be no wipe so all these polls are utterly retarded. Really the game is a faceroll and leveling is done without batting an eyelash, let the game degenerate to whatever its to become.
Can't they just do a roll back? Or are they worried that the players who WEREN'T spending their time doing the exploit would be upset to lose progress?
It's certainly a tough situation, and I'd hate to be in Cryptics shoes right now.
I like how 800 people voting yes on there forum means that the whole player base is in agreement with them.
OH WAIT
stupid thread is stupid.

Correct me if I am wrong, this game is still in Beta?
If so, Beta has regular Wipes to correct problems like this..it's BETA!
If I am wrong, then sham on Devs.
