A wipe is a little drastic...just ban the people who exploited, and/or rollback to yesterday...
According to polls 100% of games suck as well...just poll people that hate games...when will people learn that polls mean absolutely nothing at all lol.
This comment makes no sense. The people taking the poll are the target audience. I have no idea how your reference applies at all. If your community, which should be on your forum, all have a poll to want and do one thing, that is a good representation of your community, which is who you made the game for? Oh wait, maybe we should do a poll of only multimillionaires because this game was made as a cash grab not for gamers. Is that what you mean?

Why do you need a wipe to enjoy the game?
Damn good question. I'm looking at the majority of those demanding a wipe, as just wanting to grief the entire player base. That would be the near ultimate Goonie/Troll antic. Fortunately, Cryptic/PWE didn't listen to them.
The people who are pushing hard for a wipe have an agenda. No one fights that hard for something so inconsequential for no reason. They would either gain an advantage or recover a loss, but they're not exactly being forthright with the reason. They keep alluding to some vague and noble concept of justice, blah blah blah. I don't believe or trust them for a moment.
The agenda is to have a healthy community? Does that not make sense? Is it better to just have these people that are gazzillionaires controlling the market of a game because they found an exploit? I never understand these defending comments. It makes sense to want to get the game to a state where it is not controlled by exploiters, but you guys are trying to get it so the exploiters can have everything. I for one like to play the economy and this wrecks the game.

First off.. Only a fraction of the players visit the forums... And of those who does only a fraction did actually vote....
So why in the name of sponge-bob should that listen to this noisy cricket when even i can figure out that wiping the servers would end up costing them both more money and players then not wiping.
Think of all the people who made purchases from the cash shop who would be effected by a wipe. The people who bought keys and got lucky with a inferno mount, the people who bought asset and resource kits and got lucky and got rares. Those are the most prized customers to Cryptic since they are the ones throwing money at the company. Those are also the people who would be the most furious over a char wipe.
To you and me, a char wipe makes sense but from a business perspective on Cryptics end, it does not. You dont piss off your best customers. Are some of the people who purchased things ok with a wipe? YEP, but it is a very small percentage of all the paying customers. While I have no love for Cryptic and think they make most decisions by throwing a dart at a board, I would have to back them up on this one and I would have made the same call.
On a side note, I would have someone combing logs and be giving perma-bans to all those who exploited if I were running Cryptic. The 72 hour ban was weak at best.

I'm always amazed to read people's responses that aren't rooted in anything but their own anger.
No one said that players who exploited should keep anything. No one said that they don't want to have a healthy community. But you went ahead and said this anyway.
Again, always amazed.
People DO want exploiters banned, people DO want a good game community and people DO want a game not controlled by exploiters.
what they don't want is the setting off of a bomb when surgical incisions will do.
They don't want "sky is falling" implementation of large clumsy "fixes".
and "again" to (at this point) reiterate: only the FORUM posters who bothered to vote in that poll voted a majority. These are usually the people most passionate and most invested and not necessarily representative of the whole. So why the heck would any company listen to this small minority of the player base? If they really wanted to know player feedback they could institute their own poll at the start of the game over listening to some player made poll where only a small group will bother to vote.
I didn't vote. I'm a founder. And actually I could care less about Neverwinter's forums so I don't even go there. I wonder how many other players don't go there either?
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
i think the 72 h ban is to lock the accounts down while the do further investigations. To buy them self a bit more time to make sense of the mess and track the movements of some of the people.

Sad to say but you are pretty far off the mark... In fact most people who do not want a wipe are normal people who did not exploit out of fear of loosing their account and really would not like to have all the progress they made so far lost.

Justice? No one has mentioned that a full wipe has anything to do about justice, they have said that it would be best for the game based on the fact that the game is centered around AD.
I don't think most are understanding that the AD dupe is the straw that broke the camels back. There are so many bugs/exploits in NW that have completely messed up the intended flow of the game.
Now no one really knows what would be best for the game only assumptions but what is known is people are quitting w/out a wipe, maybe only the vocal minority but those are cold hard facts we have at hand.
The vocal minority are also the majority of the games spenders. I would love for someone to post the research done on f2p titles and tracking forum activity with spending but it was clear in the study that they were the biggest spenders, the whales of the game.
In F2P games, the minority spends the most money. So, following that logic, the ones with the most time and money invested in the game would be the most opposed to a wipe. PWE doesn't want to piss off the 10% of the playerbase that accounts for most of their $$.

Don't try bringing logic to the argument. It only ticks them off.

Its like murder.. If you get caught doing it. Then it should be severe... Ibet the 74 who want a wipe are probably the ones who dont want to get caugt... And banned.!!!
Nob heads!!!! Just because you can doesnt mean you should.
I'm so glad I didn't pull the trigger and put money into the game, I was going to get some extra bag space and what not. For me it's the deceit, the lie of the open beta, the pretense of doing something about the exploits, and the threats by the company on how people should not contact their credit card companies.
I enjoyed the game for what it was and I was willing to help it grow, but that door has closed.
Personally I am $300 deep into Neverwinter , the guildleader of THACO and I have pretty much stopped playing due to all the exploits and ruined in game economy.
IMO the only chance the game even has is to get the bugs and exploits under control, refund the spent zen, then basically do a relaunch.
Sure you may piss off a few people, but right now you have already pissed off a few people.
You may lose a few players, and spenders, but right now you have already lost a few players and spenders.
For the overall survivability of the game you just can not allow this much damage to the end game economy to remain in the game.
Oh and as for the whole OB argument remember this is PWI they kept Perfect World in OB for years using that as an excuse not to refund zen to players when a glitch or bug caused people to lose their zen or zen purchases.
