Why are you looking for a beta key if you've cancelled your pre-order?

    Makes no sense to me.

I could give a shit about the horse. It's having the cash shop that sucks ass.

The message that this sends is entirely negative. Was this planned - but ZOS delayed announcing it to push people towards the CE? Are pre-orders below expectations and this is a way to get more money? Was this planned when they said no "cash shop".

On balance I agree with you but most saw a difference between a CE and a cash shop - and it was certainly a valid distinction, especially given Zenimax's statements.

Now? Even if Zenimax come out and say "it will just be the horse" their words no longer carry weight.

Elder Scrolls Online is doomed. This game doesn't move like a ES game and its just another themepark MMO. Anyone that has played beta might like it cause its new and its ES and is trying really hard to like it. Now they want to add a cash shop with a subscription fee. Hello? Does anyone else not see this being a problem. I'll be playing this game on my PS4 b/c its not worth playing on the PC b/c it is just as good as GW2, SWTOR, or any other themepark MMO out there. Still waiting on a sandbox MMO for my PC...

For many it's the principle of the matter. It's really not that great of a practice to advertise your game as being sub only, only to throw in a cash-shop after selling so many on the game who thought otherwise, because you told them otherwise. It's not that hard to understand.

I hardly bitch about any company on this site, but this even pissed me off.

I don't have an issue with low end things like the horse to be available in shop for noob levels. Now if it was one of the higher tiered mounts that boost speed more then a normal would and able to use it below the recommended level, then that's a different story.

If they start adding things that boosts combat stats I would stop playing and stop paying a sub immediately.

But almost everyone knew this for a long time that ESO will have an in game store.

But they said they would only offer services, this goes a bit beyond that. It's been said many times, I'll say it one more time. They even went as far as correcting people who said they would have items for sale, by saying they wouldn't.

The truly funny thing is, they don't even have the services available that they listed would be there: Name changes, server transfers, etc.

I don't think any of us thought this move was inevitable, but when they outright said no items at launch, and that turns out to be a lie, that destroys any goodwill I had for their business development team.

Looks like they will be offering more than just account services in their in-game shop, like we all said that would. Of course it's okay now, right? No big deal, everyone knew it would happen, ZOS can do no wrong.

It's okay now? Did you read this thread? Or look at the poll?

i think it more to do with the cash shop it's self than what is being sold. Also that they've backtracked, TWICE in the name of profit.  First stating the faction locks were there for a reason and making a fuss when anyone said other wise, but they decided to change that by allowing people to pay to get pass it, and now they i've added a cash shop even though they stated they will not and many people on here defended them,  now they turn around and change their mind making a lot of people feel foolish.

Doing this they have lost a lot of players trust, and imho trust is a key factor. esepically if you're expecting people to invest money into your game every month. What's to say they won't add p2w items or doing anything else that may affect the game negativley? because it's clear they're willing to lie in the name of profit and fool their followers.

Just my take on the situation, i was on the fence because of the first 180 but decided to wait and see at launch, becuase i give game a chance, but like i said the game hasn't even launched yet and there already flip flopping, so i think ill hop off :(

This just makes me think about the "good guy developer" thread made last week :/

I think it's more interesting that some people kept denying there would be a cash shop, now those same people are proclaiming that it's fine to have a cash shop.

Never mind that Firor denied there would be one after an article was released a few months ago.

    Mounts aren't account services.

And anyone that thinks that the cash shop has no impact on the game obviously hasn't looked at how much it costs to buy that horse with in game currency.

The only reason that horse costs so much in game is to encourage people to spend actual cash to get it.  (PS: This is where "ethics" comes in.")

I've seen very few people who argued that there would be no cash shop supporting this move, very few.

The problem with the cash shop and why it's a deal breaker is simply this:

For me, the whole point of playing an MMORPG to progress your character with the fellowship of others.  One of the most important ways to progress your character is by obtaining more powerful, cosmetically interesting items.  I remember in EverQuest or in Vanilla WoW seeing a more experienced, higher level character with a really cool weapon, armor, or even mount.  It took time, effort, and skill to achieve these things.  Once you did, you felt accomplishment and you would have memories of questing with friends to obtain the items.  It took me forever to get my mid level Cleric class armor in EQ, but once I had it, others would compliment me and ask how to get it.  That said, a cash shop allows you to simply buy these things.  No skill, time invested, or achievement required and this kills the sense of being unique.  So what's point of even playing the game?  The cash shop destroys my ENTIRE purpose for playing.  I started playing GW2 and thought it was great until I realized I could simply buy elite looking armor from the cash shop... so what's the point?  I had such high hopes for ESO, I've been in every beta and thought it might be the modern day EQ I've been waiting 10+ years for.  This is soooo disappointing.  I will not be playing.

Why stop at horses! They should include all gear in the game at the cash shop as well! In addition I wish to purchase a max lvl character. I want to buy the game, pay a sub and then pay to get max lvl and the best gear as well. P2W? No of course not, it's all stuff that can be obtained in game!!!! It's not about the horse, the game changer isn't the item...it's the precendent they are setting for future cash shop items. I'm so glad I'm not the least be interested in this piece of hot garbage.

I really thought it would be only services at launch, i know that eventually they would end up selling mounts and pets but not at launch, i am afraid of what’s next since I really like the game, but if they introduce armor skins or booster I am out.
