World First lvl 50s

TheHavokTheHavok Member UncommonPosts: 2,423

Pattison and Flim on Hazak(EU).  Grats to them.  Now they can finally get some sleep!

Also, I just want to say that this was the first report of level 50s I have heard of since the headstart, so if somebody else reached it before these guys, then my apologies!

Edit: Poster Nutornot has pointed out that the player Jibew (who is presumably french) was actually world first with 1d 3h 21m gameplay. http://i.imgur.com/QnK49Vl.png

This makes sense due to the 'Realm First:Dominion Level 50!' Message.  Anyways, grats to Jibew as well!

The content locusts are on a feeding frenzy.  Just a matter of days before the cries of "Lack of content."

Who cares what others crie about...

Tough, this is one of those games that starts at 50 (for some of them)   gearing up and raiding

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

The servers went live at 12:01am PST on May 31st.  DDOS attack kept people away but around 2:00am PST, players were then able to log in with no issues.

Now its time for them to level up alts to 50, but honestly folks, I am playing WS as well and enjoying the game, but has themepark mmo's become to simple. So long to the days of EQ and the hell levels. Maybe the next mmo will be like, here is your level X, now go grind them weapons and gear for your raid dungeons or your arena battles.

Screw this leveling ($*#, I just want to play endgame :) is the gamers mentality now and not the journey anymore.

    Disagree.

Subscription games (I would argue) do indeed breed "content locusts" - people who don't want to pay a long term subscription and want to experience as much content as possible.  You can see the same behavious in e.g. theme parks, people who buy a day pass, turn up as soon as the park opens and then don't stop until the park closes.

People who aim to be first XXXXX are not content locusts however. They don't care about the content. Their aim is to be first to get XXXX. They exist in all games but are more obvious in online games with leaderboards etc.

Does the fact that people have gotten to max. level so quickly mean there is a lack of content? Not necessarily. It certainly means that levelling is easy. And whilst the average player won't get to max. level "tomorrow" we can expect them to hit max. level in "a few weeks". If the world first post had happened after a few weeks the average player would probably get to max level in a few months.

Like I say though: does it matter?

Is there enough alternate content, lots of different ways to level? Will people want to level alts - or will they end up going through the same story / quests? Will people still be around for the first update? Will those that stick around still be there for the second? Does the game start at 50? Will the PvP aspect hold those who prefer PvP; will it engage people who PvE.

We don't know I suggest - although slower would probably have been better.

what the quickest way to lvl?
  • syriinxsyriinx Member UncommonPosts: 1,383

Its just pathetic how far MMORPGs have fallen.

Level 50s in the headstart period just shouldnt happen.

No one hit max level in the first week of WoW, and that was considered fast leveling at the time.

If i were them, I would of documented how they did their leveling and released it as a guide for $25.

The thing that slowed you down (in the early days) in WoW wasn't the difficulty, or the scale.   It was due to the lack of quest markers, so reading quests (or thotbot) was required to even get an indication of where to go.   It was also when MMOs were still niche, and still closer to RPGs than they are now.

Yeah, I suspect most others will be capped by next weekend. Then what? Come to the forums and say "I'm bored." If no one is complaining about leveling being too slow, you have a problem on you hands.

Even with maximum knowledge and addons specifically designed for fast leveling the record pre-BC for lvl 60 on a new server (which launched regularly) was around 6 days /played

I don't think you can just blame mmos, it's the players as well, most player these day dedicate a lot of time trying to find the quickest and best ways to level in no time, Back then most people weren't so hell bent on hit max level, but now most people are, not sure why, but tbh doesn't bother me to much.

I'm level 9 right now and am absorbing everything, plus doing other 'family' stuff.

I think the game is excellent, but it wouldn't hurt if levelling required double the xp and so took a bit longer. No sooner do I get a new ability to play with, than the next one comes along.

Make the game last a bit longer by making the levelling take longer, my opinion.

World first leveling achievements are sort of like Darwin Awards. Yeah, you accomplished something, but it's not something to feel good about.

    Did they really say that?

After 10s of themepark games realizing after launch that their estimates of the time needed for leveling was utter nonsense and based on their own clumsy way of playing you would expect that they learn a thing. But for some weird twist of fate it never happens.
