what are others opinions on it is it worth time and effort? as i get older i find more and more i just cant bring myself to level up any thing lol, i think mmos might have died for me lol
Comments
I stopped reading there.
Not playing any MMO's atm. But really.....After an hour.
At least you got it to launch, mine is not even launching
And people are saying you gotta redirect folders and mess with registry and stuff...seriously? I shouldnt have to do anything technical for a game thats been released already in two other countries and been through several betas.
obviously pmsl why would i play it for hours and hours or days if i found it meh and boring? once you played as many mmos as myself you dont need more than a hour or two to work out if u like it or not, ive seen this style mmo so so soso many times
you must be new
i actually just watched some youtube vids rather then log in and play it myself why go through all the bother when you can let someone else lool
From everything I've heard it opens up a lot once you get done leveling but I gotta agree with most people here that the "poor man's WoW" leveling experience is tough to slog through for me. Is there any way to level up thru crafting/trading which isn't really inefficient compared to the questing XP?
Do both of those things and you may find something pretty amazing.

If you have to 'push through to level 30', then perhaps the game developers should reevaluate their game design. It's 2014, man. That's all I have to say.
Why would you start a thread to complain about a game you paid nothing for and only played 1 hr ? And all you had to say about it was, the game is MEH.
What would this site look like if everyone on here did that....
honestly, i did not bother to read more than the first line....
the game is good, it offers intense pvp, exploration, good crafting system, nice graphics. now if some person has no patience to play a game further than one hour, it's simply that that person is not good enough for the game.
If it did not hold your attention for an hour you probably should delete the game and move on.
I think it is the best game since Daoc the amount of content in this game is huge.
It does have a learning curve and without doing any quests to at least level 20 you will be hard press to learn a lot of the parts of the game.
If you like open world pvp this game is for you.
If you are huge into carfting and farming and do not mind the occasional pvp this game is for you.
If you are huge into PVE this game is probably not for you and can not stand PVP this game is not for you.
I agree. There are issues left over from previous betas not being addressed that seem like simple fixes:
1) Folder Redirection not being supported - come on, now. This isn't 1998 any more. Get with it. And yes, I have submitted bug reports and I know the GMs have read the threads but for whatever reason it's not been fixed for this beta.
2) No full screen windowed mode - Again, not 1998. Dual monitors are very common these days.
These are relatively minor issues in the grand scheme of things, but they are very easy and fast fixes for them to implement.
I'm just guessing here, but I don't think these are going to be fixed come release based on what I am seeing thus far.
I'm not exactly sure what you are talking about.
Right click Glyph and "Run As Admin" , this fixes a lot of problems people have.
Also you can right click on the game in the Glyph window and change the location of the game etc.
Hope this helps.
No really, we need a better breed of players, who have the patience and perseverance to see things through to the end. I realize these are perhaps generational values and perhaps you can't help yourself.
These were virtues back in the day, they can be again.
As others have mentioned, if you can't/won't do this, AA is definitely not the game for you, walk away now.

Already tried, didnt work
It's definitely not "just you", a lot of people have that impression after the first hour.
The thing is, XLGames felt they needed a tutorial stage to ease Guild Wars 2 players into the sandbox-y aspects of ArcheAge.
You owe it to yourself to play two more hours, get the farm quests at lvl 11 and a glider at 13. Once you see people trucking around trade packs on their backs and the seemingly endless variety of crops in player farms, it starts to sink in that it's a different kind of world.
See, many of us who have patience and perseverance don't want to waste it on a game that doesn't know what it is...
It's a Sandpark that is burning both ends of the candle. Oh it has instancing! it has open world! It has raids! It has dungeons! It has... too many things for too many niches and it's going to not be able to keep up the development pace to keep any of them satisfied.
It also compromises far too much, for instance... INSTANCES? In my sandbox? :-(
You remember UO, when it was the only game Kyleran. This game isn't what we were dreaming of was it?
What does that statement even mean? I'll assume you think it's the age of entitlement with photorealistic graphics, quick leveling mechanics and a pew pew mentality? Explain your statement please.
Ugh, this crap argument again. Why in gods name would anyone do anything that isn t fun to them, only to get to a point of a GAME that MIGHT still be boring to them. The guy played it a little short of my 2 hours, but I feel it was 1 hour 59 mins to long as well. I hate that "get to xx level first".
For games like this why don't they just put the start area wherever level 30 is? The content in between level 1-29 could be tacked onto the endgame or thrown in the trash. /shrug
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
You level fast, items are easy to get, you get bored fast.
After six months 70 percent of the starters have moved on to the next MMO, this is what I think is wrong with gaming now.
Archeage is easy to level in but to get the best items is a long road.
Take for example a Bow, at 50 you can go to hasla and farm mobs in the smallish camp, they drop tokens for weapons, there are six different types of tokens none of which are tradeable, it takes 150 tokens to get a bow.
So you have to kill on average 900 mobs to get a bow solo or in a group where no one else is rolling on the bow, so the fastest way is get a group the people are rolling on different tokens.
To upgrade that bow you will need 150 more tokens of the same type, to upgrade that bow you need 200 tokens of that type.
So basically 3200 mobs of you rolling only on that token will get you there.
Add on top of that Hasla is a PVP zone and both sides are farming these mobs it can get pretty intense, it can piss you off greatly at times and be funny as hell at times.
This requires people to play together, you can flag and kill people on your own side in this zone too, so if your not a team player you might find yourself kicked out of the camp etc.
Or you might find players down there killing people where they can't get tokens.
If you want a bow but not farm these mobs you can get a crafted bow, I will not go into the process of getting the best crafted bow but it is a long process as well.
This is the grind in the game not the first 30 levels they are cake.
Lineage two once you got higher it would take about an hour of hard grinding to get 2 percent on your exp bar, 50 hours per level when it released that is a grind.
Gamers are soft now a days.
Lol, soft, what does not wanting to level through a game they hate just to get to a level, that apparently starts being fun, make anyone soft. I played DAOC at release, getting to 50 took forever, I didn t mind it at all, but then again I liked the game right away. FFXI , same thing, and so on. Just because someone says a game gets better at a certain point, doesn t mean it will to the people not liking it at the beginning, and it definitely doesn t make them soft.
Not playing any MMO's atm. But really.....After an hour.
when in an hour you can feel the controls and they feel like it would be good..if it came out in 2003 and was competing with original daoc or something..bad ui, 16 people waiting around a spawn for a lvl 6 quest where 1 gets credit, trolls and gold spammers nonstop giving hte impression that there is/won't be any moderation like a lot of these games...
its your typical asian f2p that has farming and seafaring later on that i don't want to clunk my way through 30 lvl's and 5000 'wow was the first mmorpg' trolls to see.
this is just my opinion but even a game im not wild about like wildstar has so much more polish and responsivemess the features of the games don't even matter to me i can't pick the severly outdated clunky one.
Daoc had what that this game does not have in it in the first 20 levels? NOTHING
This game has a ton more stuff to do at first than Daoc did when it released and is much faster. You remember wearing all grey armor because anything past level 25 did not drop items at all in Daoc. Take off the Rose color glasses. I liked Daoc too a lot but you have changed more so than the games.
Lineage 2 higher levels took about 50 hours per level grinding mobs when it released, people can't make it past two hours in a game before they give up. Then say this is no fun what do you want a Pirate ship, a submarine, a house, a merchant ship, when you log into AA, you can get those things but you have to work for them.
Like I said gamers are soft now, give me now, give me now, give me now, I'm bored POS game.
No, really...about an hour??!!
Takes me that long to decide what I want for breakfast. The OP's comments pretty much have zero validity. No make that less than zero, because he admitted he played 1 hour and still feels he can judge the game.
Pathetic.
