Discussion of Star Citizen, and related topics that might come up, including Elite Dangerous are okay. Publishing private communication that essentially drags drama over here from somewhere else, that's not what this forum is for. Neither is personal attacks on other posters, however.
Let's continue on topic from here, guys.

Let's see how the "good effects" and "excelent" CIG marketing approach reflects to the remaining of the industry and Space Sim genre.
Let's see how many backers "Space Tunnels" from "fully beloved" ex-CIG employees will bring. If what some CIG defensor says is true, about how good they do for the Space Sim genre, we are going to see another behemoth born... let's see.
Let's guess how many copies they will sold after release. Some nice friend here told that will be 22 million copies of SC easily... So... Space Tunnels from guys that the CIG followers love, probably will make something similar, after all, all those 600k backers loves what they do, why a good chunk of them would not love of Wingman's do, right?
I really hope this game delivers and all those who invested in it get they reward back but to me this seems more and more another case of Bernard Madoff. I really hope I am wrong.
Sounds great. Especially his "Ancients" background story idea (reminds me of Mass Effect). He says it will be an ambitious project, but a bit smaller in scope than SC. It WILL include FPS. Co-op included. Up to 60 people together in one (instance ?). Looking for talent that wants to join a new game studio. At the moment he is paying it (in his own words) "out of his empty pockets" --> Kickstarter project ;-) He asks for some patience as he is putting together all the information needed and only THEN does he want to present it to the public in detail.
And he is greatly praising his old Star Citizen mates and Chris Roberts as he is answering questions. Some of his personal friends from CIG follow him to his own project, but he definitely denies that he is actively poaching talent from CIG ... that is something he specifically does NOT want to do.
Finishes by saying that he will all meet us "in the 'verse !!" ;-)
If I put my hand out for money and people kept giving it to me, I would just keep my hand out. Gamers being personally invested in a game like this has a huge potential to snow ball into a nerd rage. The more the funding they get the bigger the chance of this happening. IMO its only time till enough people feel burned and we get enough bad press that this type of project wont happen again. I think the system has to many flaws and no accountability. Yog Cast proved that with their project that earned 500'000 that turned out to be 1 guy making a game "Maybe" that in the end didnt get made and left the fans with no recourse.
Originally posted by Azoth @Nan, I give to charity every year, yet there is still poverty. Maybe I should just stop dreaming and keep my money.
I think you are lost, we talking about giving money to a company that has no track record and getting that money with no accountability. As are all games funded this way. As for charity, careful who you give that to as well. Looking into the organizations track record of how much of the money is spent on the charity over their overhead expenses would shock you. Some as high as 0.80 cents on the dollar are used for overhead and only 0.20 cents making it into the hands of the needy.

Tbh, I doubt that the "blowback" from a failed crowdfunded game will "kill the concept" of crowdfunding any time soon.
People love that feeling of being important and possibly getting special priviliges, that e-peen enlargement gained by the "Founder Backer" is priceless. As we have seen, people gladly pay 100's of dollars for early access and founder's packs. Status will always attract humans an persuade them to part with their cash. We are all vain and hollow vessels !
One or two success stories from crowdfunding is all it takes to keep the hope alive. Wasteland 2 has been just such a success. It can work, but there's never any guarantees. Caveat emptor.

You read me wrong, I think this type of crowd funding is going to die and someone will be smart enough to make a better one. This system is to easy to scam and no one can take action. The current system is a house of card IMO. The backlash coming from this system will be a hot topic one day, sooner then later I think.

I am not sure what you mean by "take action"? If you give your money to any project whether it be by donation or as an actual investor, you will still be at the mercy of the actual success of the project.
If you give money as an investment you might have recourse to some type of compensation if the project is abandoned and there is still money in the coffers. Generally there won't be though. If it is a donation, tough luck.
The big problem here, as I see it, is that the big fancy projects, like Mr. Roberts space opera will attract the most amount of funding because of their big fancy promises! Our game will be everything you ever wanted in an MMO!! Of course depending on how much money you give us, you may or may not see our game in your lifetime......
Contrast this with the little guy with more realistic goals and crappy graphics, who just wants his game to see the light of day, and gets ignored, because everyone is drooling and dropping their cash on the super duper, game of the century, that we have all been waiting for.
That is the part of human nature that this type of funding will prey on.

Hmm, looks like hundreds of people at PAX Australia liked what they saw .
And before that at PAX US. And at Gamescon 2014 etc. Seems like some of those legendary 4k people keep flying around the world from convention to convention to clap for Star Citizen. What a fiendish plan !! They must have really deep pockets .. after all they buy dozens of expensive SC spaceships on top of flying around the globe.
See PAX Australia Livestream recording (e.g. crowd to be seen at 54.45 timeline)
I did not say that they only have 4k backers. Never.
No but you keep claiming that only 4k people keep pushing them higher...
Where is your proof of this? You keep claiming this but have as of yet provided one solid piece of evidence to back it up. Just because you keep claiming it does not make it magically true. Until you provide proof you are just talking out of your arse as usual.
BTW just for reference, i havent contributed a dime to this project, so im not invested into it. Nor am i particularly a fan of space sim type games.
That being said. Everything i've seen gives me plenty of faith that this project will be succesful. The dog fighting module was amazing. Clearly the engine and the content they've created is very polished, runs well, looks amazing. The recent video on the FPS module also looked amazing. Could the animations use a bit of work, of course, but for early alpha footage, i was very impressed.
Seriously, they've missed a few goals/dates, whoopety doo. Name me one software project in the history of software projects that had a team over 50 that didnt miss dates left and right. Are they probably gonna be late on the overall project, yes, im sure they will. But all this crap about this being some kind of pyramid scheme, money grab and run type of things is just totally unfounded. Its actually luaghable reading some of the comments. I honestly can't even wrap my head around some of the arguments people are coming up with. they're based on a house of bullshit built on a foundation of wet twigs.
