yup.
however, i might download it again now that it's F2P. the game was never bad, it was more disappointing because it wasn't great (like all the Elder Scrolls games).
hm said without knowing what they have in their cash shop, but it doesnt sound much like GW2s version of B2P, but more like planetside 2´s F2P model, with a B2P on top of it.
100% for sure you pay for the game and get ALL ..ALL of it's content? That means NO cash shop selling items that can only be had in cash shop?I'll believe that when i see it and i highly doubt it,it is possible i mean once in a thousand games i run into a game that has no need for cash shop but we will see.
MY assumption first of all is that they NEEDED to make sure they sell LOT's of console copies because it costs a lot of money to port it over ,this is why i am sure they made this decision. To give it any value they also need to make sure EVERYONE plays on the same servers, without segregating console from PC.

well will see later I guess.
yah GW2 dosent have new content- just some quests ;living story ' stuff , ESO says they will have content- thats how its done.
TSW also has this model going well for them too!
I welcome any game w/o a sub - but need to purchase new content n quests in a cash shop- why not, they need to make money so...

I think what that means is that you get your allotment of crowns every month and you can spend it in the cash shop however you want. If you sub then you get more each month.
Like Lord of the Rings Online I imagine.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
doesnt matter- i wouldnt play it even if it went f2p. I guess its for those loyal americans that also liked games like Star Wars MMO- wich are a flop in EU and Asia.
I have been waiting for either FTP or BTP. I haven't tried the game yet, but now I am going to buy it. I don't play any game consistently enough to pay a sub. This should be a lot of fun!

Yeah, me neither. I don't get folks that play games just because they are free...
If I didn't think this game was good enough to play before, nothing has changed. The £2.50 or so the sub cost a week really wasn't the barrier to me getting stuck in... It really is a negligible amount.
I don't get the people who will put their precious leisure time into something that they didn't enjoy enough to put such a small amount of cash into.
They basically did a paid beta on pc and milked their customers for console release lol. I'm actually happy about this. I'll buy this game on ps4 and play it peacefully without any bugs and bots...
This!

Probably more like TSW. You buy the base game than can play as much as you want except if you want new issues you have to buy them as you go. There is also a cash shop for appearance items and some QOL potions like XP pots. Recently TSW added "Mystery Boxes" which are just a spin on the slot machine for a chance at a rarer item which is the same as GW2. I really hope there is no real world exchange like GW2 but it is EA after all so I wouldn't be surprised one bit if they add it.
The funny thing about TSW's model is I think I spend more money on it than I do in a traditional sub game when I'm playing it. The XP bonus for subbing is large enough and progression is so never-ending that you want to sub and still buy the new issues and mini packs investigation missions. ESO is setting up the champion system with the same kind of endless XP grind as TSW has which is smart from a business model of selling XP pots and subs with XP bonuses.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if this B2P conversion ends up generating significantly higher revenue per player on average than the sub model did as game companies really have this model down.
Now it remains to see whether FFXIV will be able to keep carrying the subscription torch alongside WoW and EVE, or whether it will cave soon as well.

wildstar, devs are yah listening?
Here hoping they don't back on their promise to offer the console game for $20 to people who purchased the game prior to july '14.

I hope the "again free 30 days" they promised to people who "upgraded" to the console version will turn out to be 30 days of ESO Plus.
Sounds good, I have purchased the box already and due to lack of time, couldn't play much.
This won't help me with having more free time, but at least I can play for short bursts of 2-3 days when I have some.
I already own the imperial edition of this game but felt that it should been a B2P play due to it's legacy.
The raging coming from the fanboys on their FB page is glorious.
This could end up being very interesting.

Booo.
Well, at least it's B2P, so there will be some sort of barrier to the F2P cockroaches.

The game's issue was never it's revenue model, but, as a scapegoat, I guess it's easier than dealing with the other stuff.
