I hope they will still have the 20$ conversion from PC to PS4/Xbox they talked about a months ago.
Couldn't care less about it going B2P IF and a big IF the cash shop is:
Cosmetics
DLCs
Name changes, sex changes, barbershop, etc
I plan to continue to sub anyway, so DLCs won't really affect me much and I could care less about that guy with the flaming sword while I have a normal one...
If they have a cash shop like SWTOR where you basically have to buy EVERY SMALL THING, then I'm out of both PC and PS4...
The part that scares me is this quote from the ESO official FAQ :
''What is the Crown Store and what can I buy? <span zos_col1"="">
The Crown Store is an in-game shop that allows you to buy convenience and customization items for your characters, as well as services and content.''
All I see from words bolded is '' We will sell convenience aka bag space, bank space, anything space we can think of, we will also sell content aka nickel and dime you for every minute of your playtime like SWTOR does where you have to buy raid time and dungeon time''
Now it remains to see whether FFXIV will be able to keep carrying the subscription torch alongside WoW and EVE, or whether it will cave soon as well.
Considering some games with F2P options have a substantial amount of subscriptions that are on par or higher than any pre WoW MMO (SWTOR, for example), I wouldn't necessarily say that P2P only games are the ones carrying the subscription torch.
I'll definitely consider buying it now. I still want to read all the finer details about it's Tamriel Unlimited model & the difference in it's tiers. To me the stinginess or generousness of the difference in subscriber versus free-player tiers within the game is very telling. I played bunches of Guild Wars. I bought Guild Wars 2, but never have played it much yet. I think the buy-to-play was a wiser choice than the free-to-play. Now just for March 17th to get here. I'm glad they're rewarding the current subscribers too they deserve the perks.

Hard to say for ffxiv. I'm still getting login queues even before this latest patch. I'm hoping se has found their sweet spot with this game and are content with subs for the long haul.
Now I can play again... I must say I think it is very nice of the players here not to go through old posts of others who said it would never go B2P and that the game was doing great, and do I told you so's. Nice also to see a mature crowd with no name calling. :-)

They basically did a paid beta on pc and milked their customers for console release lol. I'm actually happy about this. I'll buy this game on ps4 and play it peacefully without any bugs and bots...
Yes lol, all the naysayers can eat humble pie. Thanks for clearing the way for us whoiwill play it on consoles lmfao.
Well, at least it's B2P, so there will be some sort of barrier to the F2P cockroaches.
It's funny but I've spent more on cash shops in F2P games (PlanetSide2; Rift; Hearthstone; etc) then I ever did in the games I subscribed to. Although this doesn't apply to everyone who enjoys F2P games, I truly believe the old subscription model is outdated (late 90's and early 2000's) and I welcome the ala carte model most companies are adopting.
As long as there is a sub option I am happy. The thing I hated about Neverwinter was they kept filling your inventory daily with rubbish you were afraid to throw away forcing you to buy stuff with real money. This looks not like that am enjoying the game so far.
Now then, where are all the people that white knighted this game back in beta and reported a bunch of us saying negative things about the game and why it would not be a subscription game faster than SWTOR went F2P?
At some point, you would think that SOME people would learn to stop and maybe listen to others comments and perhaps get on board with trying to make a developer see what is wrong with their game while in beta instead of blindly defending and allowing another bland craptastic game be made.
I once again point to the quote in my sig about how white knights ruin more games than anything else. You make it possible for developers to think nothing is wrong only to find out too late that there is a LOT wrong.
"People who tell you youre awesome are useless. No, dangerous.
They are worse than useless because you want to believe them. They will defend you against critiques that are valid. They will seduce you into believing you are done learning, or into thinking that your work is better than it actually is." ~Raph Koster http://www.raphkoster.com/2013/10/14/on-getting-criticism/
Cool. I'll buy it and play it now. The game looks like it's improved a lot since launch.
I have the imperial addition, it said inactive ?
It's not St. Patrick's day yet.

so its B2P
and then theres Premium that give you all the shiny bonuses
Too bad that Carbine isn't even smart enough to grasp the concept of free trials up to level XY.
Instead they sit on servers barren below lvl50 and have no idea wtf to do with the game.

No chance.
I said it many times - It was only mater of time when ESO will go B2P.
But for Wildstar its different. NCSoft are known for rather closing MMOs than going F2P or B2P. Im afraid Wildstar is destined to be closed
Seems like a good way to make sure the game dies in a few years, when the money runs out.

I was wondering the same, but they just updated the FAQ stating that the offer they made back in july will be honored.
