Since you ignored my post above regarding your SC pledge, are you a backer with access to the game?
If he is that is hilarious, considering his posts on Chris Roberts throughout these threads, he's essentially making a case that investing in him is a bad idea. That would be like me backing a Derek Smart KS product.
Yeah. They are popping up all over the place with increasing regularity and gaining steam. DSmart has mentioned that he is getting smothered with requests for interviews. It's just a matter of time before the main stream media picks up on it. Its about time this fiasco got some attention. Its not looking good for CIG at all.
Media sources interview people they believe will bring sensationalism to their sites. This is what Derek Smart wants. Congratulations, you're being reeled in - hook, line, and sinker.
Nowhere in the article did they mention interviewing Derek Smart for the article hence it's under and titled as OP-ED.
... you guys are reaching so hard.
Except this isn't about Derek Smart. Keep deflecting though. Maybe I should just copy/paste a post stating "This isn't about Derek Smart" in every thread that all of you Derek Smart obsessed posters keep posting in trying to make this about Derek Smart. Keep deflecting though. Think if I do that enough times you Derek Smart obsessed posters might eventually get it?
Actually, this is about Derek Smart because Derek Smart made it about him and his obvious drive to be a 'leader' of the small minority of backers that agree with him. I'm here to discuss the demands and the misleading (seemingly on purpose) comments and perspective Derek Smart has claimed, all while he is trying to remind people he's an authority on this stuff. Since he wants the spotlight on him, and he wants people to know what's going on with Star Citizen (which is based upon his 'instincts' and his 'sources', mind you, he seems to imply he has sources in the FTC too), then that's what he is going to get.
If you don't want to have these discussions then don't participate in them.
That's odd. I didn't hear about this whole rodeo until after CIG on their forums called out DS from his blog posts and refunded/returned his KS money.
Well, I didn't even know that Star Citizen was selling ships at this point. I knew about Star Citizen due to the Kickstarter/Crowdfunding fame. My only interest here is the way in which Derek Smart is going about using a 'message' to push his agenda. Since this is related to Star Citizen I'm going to post about it on various forums related to Star Citizen.
I have an issue with his demands for 'legitimate', 'industry perspective' reasons. I've voiced that. Everyone is calling me a shill or CIG fanboy due to that, because I'm pointing out the flaws, poking holes in the demands, and showing how Derek Smart is latching onto 'legitimate' concerns, and then trying to pump them up into full-blown scandalous level bullcrap. I mean, people are now posting about Enron and comparing CIG to Enron...
Think about it.
I've addressed the 'promised a product and release date' numerous times. Everyone was promised at least a 'sailboat', but now that there's funding for a battleship, Derek Smart turns this into 'WE WANT OUR SAILBOAT AND NOW'.
Even if CIG decides to give everyone the sailboat, Derek Smart knows PERFECTLY well that you can't simply slap together the sailboat now. Basically, they've started the framework and engines of a battleship and it isn't simply a matter of sticking a sail on top to turn it into a sailboat now.
Why do you follow the message of someone that has a proven track record of starting flame wars; a self-admitted troll; and has never had a hit game? I mean, check out the peak user activity of Line of Defense on Steam.
This is your messenger. A 'game developer' that thinks of game engines as 'templates', which explains a lot, who has all these 'sources', but when you ask him direct questions he vanishes.
1. You miss the point that KS funding for the sailboat (core game) nets a sailboat (core game) not a battleship (core game).
2. I follow DS because I can, the same way I have SC as a toolbar bookmark right next to his.
3. Care less about how many people are playing games on Steam.
4. DS isn't my messenger, I have never spoken to him outside of a Steam forum post.
5. Why do you hate DS so much?
6. What has DS personally done to you?
1. Are you serious?
2. Gratz, I don't. I rarely get involved in anything like this unless I see what appears to be nefarious behavior going on.
3. OH, so you're well aware of his history of silencing reviewers/people that give reasonable criticism of him by banning them on Steam?
4. I don't hate anyone. I hate what DS is doing here since I know how he works; his modus operandi. I honestly think that he thinks he'll either get the project shut down or somehow take it over.
5. He's going to be doing a 'personal' thing to a lot of people if people start following his nonsense. This guy is on a 'crusade' to take out Chris Roberts. If you can't see that now then you're blind. He doesn't care that if his bullshit gains traction that a lot of people will really be out of both money and a game. He wants the FTC to investigate? WTF. You know how damaging that would be to a game development company? Not to mention cause future talent to look elsewhere? The world outside would automatically assume that Star Citizen and CIG were somehow criminals (all based upon his 'instincts' and sources of someone that is developing a competing project).
I'm here to address his demands, not the concerns of backers (which, for the most part, I agree are legitimate concerns).
Sorry, I don't tolerate witchhunts because someone appears to have a personal grudge stemming from over two decades ago. Reality is. Chris Roberts has far more talent and game development skills than Derek Smart does. Nor does Derek Smart own or is entitled to the ideas that are behind Star Citizen
So you are going on appearance just like some of the SC critics including Derek Smart are. Wonder who has more assets to "back" their appearance up, you or Derek Smart.
You are comedy gold.
Where has Derek Smart backed up his assertions that Star Citizen is vaporware?
This will be my standard reply to you.

Sorry was playing on Steam. I usually wait around for your posts, my mistake. Interested in the game, not a backer.

If he is that is hilarious, considering his posts on Chris Roberts throughout these threads, he's essentially making a case that investing in him is a bad idea. That would be like me backing a Derek Smart KS product.
Almost as silly as DS supporting a SC KS..........right?
Or working for hospital X in Pittsburgh and owning stock in a competitor UPMC....................right?
Or owning a Verizon phone and having shares in Apple.......................right?
For someone who has not spend money on this project and doesn't have hands on the game he surely comes forth very epicritic and entitled.
And what, do tell, is your excuse for posting here? Please tell us all what entitles you to be able to post and not him? And why don't you ask the same questions of Warley that you do of MMOGamer? He is not a backer either and has posted just as much, if not more than, MMOGamer not to mention spamming the forums with fanboy threads. Biased much?

No, more like as silly as a person with no faith in X being worth money.. backing X with money... DS very much might have had faith in the project. Difference is after hands on experience with more than one of his games (one through onlive or some other streaming service, one he released for free at some point, I think it was battlecrisuer), I'd never give him money to build one after that. Much like based on your statements, I wouldn't expect you to go out and pick up the next alleged CR hit.

No more bias then you are calling other posters fanboys and shrills.

I guess the new definition of a fanboy is someone that takes a position in which they're not a fan of a game, but they'll call out nonsense when they see it when someone is spewing nonsense about the game and its developers.
If you don't support Derek Smart, and poke holes in his side and his arguments you're a fanboy.
Btw, I love how you guys ignored my post where I got really specific when I asked Derek Smart a few questions about the podcast and how he was being either dishonest or hadn't done his research.

Not sht sherlock. I admit and own my bias. The only difference is I'm not posting on a public forum questioning an opponent with a differing point of view regarding their right to post here.

What's your excuse?
You appear to be a bias fanboy of Mr. Smart and calling others out for same thing you are doing yourself . People are free to post opinions , not sure why makes you think I need a excuse on that subject. Hypocritical posts are funny to me though.
Bottom line, I backed this game and wished I had not. In my opinion, it has gone way beyond the scope of the original Kickstarter pitch. I'm not impressed with the work product produced thus far or the direction the team is taking.
I'm not whining about delays. I fully expected to not see an alpha until sometime in 2016. I feel CIG is more focused on collecting revenue pre-release than actually releasing something. Additionally, they are already supporting a huge payroll beyond core development of the game product; customer service, marketing, support, HR, etc.
Had I "purchased" a product within the US, the FTC would afford me certain protections related to whether the producer of the product delivered it in the state promised and that it performed as promised. (e.g. FCBA "credit card disputes)") I would have a time period to dispute my purchase. Obviously not the case now as the "product" has not yet been produced or purchased by definition. Those of us that backed gave money to a developer with the promise of something in return. Crowdfunded projects are simply not regulated at all at this point although most commerce within the US follows a basic premise that both parties are acting in good faith. Now while I am not advocating that the government step in and apply more regulation to everything, I will make a prediction: projects conducted like this one will drive the need for it and defining what constitutes a good faith attempt to deliver on a pledge will be the basis for a challenge.
That's the thrust of Derek Smart's argument. He's asking that there be more transparency with how the game is being developed and how the money collected from backers is being applied. I haven't been a big fan of Mr. Smart in the past but in this I have to agree with him.
Here's my other prediction. CIG had better release the most amazing game in the history of our hobby that wildly exceeds all of our expectations and they should do it sooner rather than later. (By the way, I don't think they can pull that off) If they continue to disappoint with their buggy underwhelming renditions of modules that are too little too late that ultimately never gel and greatly delay this game further, we'll see the formation of a class and ultimately a lawsuit.
And the first question will be, "Where did the money go?"
For someone who has not spend money on this project and doesn't have hands on the game he surely comes forth very epicritic and entitled.

What entitles me is the fact that a) i actually PLAY the game in question and b) i spend MY money on this project. So yes, i am entitled in an opinion because again... i PLAY the game and contribute in it's creation by reporting bugs and glitches.

No that entitles you to the special access on the games official forums and what not from RSI. Nowhere does your backing of SC (or any other game) mean crap on third party non affiliated websites filled with opinions in forum threads, i.e. MMORPG.com.
You know what the Beta testing and early access to the games I choose to support provides for me here on MMORPG.com?
I'm going to try to request a refund. I did so about 6 months into the project when it came to light about the whole ship insurance and potential for permanent ship destruction. I don't subscribe to that philosophy, but they denied me a refund at the time, despite my reasons. Now it seems, thanks to Smart, they have had a change of heart, it would seem.

Um .. first of all, there is no game to play yet, hence the reason for the topic at hand. Secondly, you didn't answer my question. Go back and try again.
Hint: Why question one poster and not the other, when the other is just as guilty of the as the one you questioned about the issue in question.
Geez, not sure why I waste my time. You people are not worth the effort.

Let's see.. ESO sucks. The questing sucks, the combat sucks, the economy sucks. Zenimax is scamming players. I know this because some people say so on MMORPG and various forums and because i watched many videos on youtube.
Have i bought and played the game? Why the hell do i need to buy and play this piece of junk? As i said some people claim that it sucks and i watched videos. On youtube.

Not that I really care all that much, but as a public corporation you def don't have a right to refuse service. That would be like me walking into Walmart asking them to see a TV they told me they had, and they messed around for days, and then I went on Walmart fourms and started complaining about it, then they send me a letter saying you can't shop here any more, and give me my money back. They would get a lawsuit so big, it would look like gay people buying cakes from Christians all over again.

Dude, keep up with the thread. Had you done so you wouldn't be coming across so foolishly clueless. My post was in regard to a continuation of a series of posts beginning with a post written by Shodanas. He questioned MMOGamer for spamming posts since he was not a backer, yet he failed to do the same for Warley who was doing the same.
In other words, how in the world am I being a hypocrite when my post had nothing to do with Shodana's being a fanboy or a shrill but with him being biased against MMOGamer simply because he did not share his point of view. Comprehending what you read goes a long way toward preventing you from looking like a fool. Try it sometime.

Then, during the court hearing, it comes to light that your "they messed around for days" translates to:
Store clerk explained to you that they were out of stock, and didn't know when the next delivery would arrive.
You became abusive and started yelling that Walmart were a "bunch of f'kin idiots". Small kids started crying and female customers fled the store.
You then took out an ad in the local newspaper demanding that the CEO of Walmart resigns.
You lose the case, judge awards full costs to Walmart and slaps you with a restraining order that prohibits you from going within 20m of a Wallmart store entrance.

You still don't get it , your a fanboy calling other people fanboys. You fully admit you are bias on the subject yet you want to name call others for their own bias. That is hypocritical thinking. I not talking about any other subject matter in this thread other then calling you out on what you are doing. When you started using the terms fanboys and shrills is when you started to lose credibility in the argument going on in several threads about this Derek Smart hoopla, which is often the case when you resort to name calling.
The pot calling the kettle black have any meaning to you?

sorry, scratch that.
I believe he mentioned he isn't a backer.
For someone who has not spend money on this project and doesn't have hands on the game he surely comes forth very epicritic and entitled.
Sorry was playing on Steam. I usually wait around for your posts, my mistake. Interested in the game, not a backer.
Almost as silly as DS supporting a SC KS..........right?
Or working for hospital X in Pittsburgh and owning stock in a competitor UPMC....................right?
Or owning a Verizon phone and having shares in Apple.......................right?

Translation: You can't have an opinion on anything unless you buy/bought it.
What a clown.
He vanished, and everyone else here dodged.

Playing ESO on my X-Box
Your problem is that you lack reading comprehension. Again, I admit my bias and at no time have I questioned anybody's right to post on these forums.
Try again.
Fanboy.
Nothing.
Um .. first of all, there is no game to play yet, hence the reason for the topic at hand.
On youtube.
My reading comprehension? How bout your own with not understanding my point, your calling other people fanboys and shrills when your acting like a fanboy yourself. Your being a hypocrite, plain and simple. I'm not a backer of the game, have no interest in it but good on you for making a assumption that I am a fanboy.
Lay off the Sambuca.
Yes, any business has the legal right to refuse servicing a client (which means refund if the product haven't been delivered yet).
You guys are getting to the point where you are arguing about arguing.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
