And the writer chose not to first ask CR and CIG for comment before publishing the "feature" ?
From the Escapist article:
" We also gave CIG 24 hours to reply to the various topics addressed, longer than usual since we knew Roberts was currently in the U.K. When we integrated Roberts' comments, we made sure he addressed the specific points raised, as well as gave him the final word in the article."
Due to a little mix-up, it wasn't in the very second it launched, but was put in 10-15 minutes after it went up.
Nice followup article and I look forward to reading the article they write after they take the tour they've been offered.
"We all do the best we can based on life experience, point of view, and our ability to believe in ourselves." - Naropa "We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are." SR Covey
Looks like a credible piece in the light of the follow up.
Credible in what sense? That they created a stir? sure. Or rather that stir contains the truth as it's laid out? Not so much. It's still a matter of he said she said. And taking all current events into perspective. Lay offs, disgruntled employees, goal of a journalist (attention, circulation), etc.. It all boils down to whether or not these employees are in teh right or in the wrong. Seven people came forward, they either had an agenda to tell the truth or an agenda to get payback. There's usually little ground in between.
My personal take is if you want to tell the truth of wrong doing, you do not have a need to fear for your career, that should be a valued trait, I mean you're essentially pulling the wool off of a wolf who is scamming the sheep. There's nothing remotely wrong with that.
For every minute you are angry , you lose 60 seconds of happiness."-Emerson
First of all, there is no mine. There is me. Similarly, I will assume that your thoughts are that of your own and not a larger collective, which is why I address you directly. See, you lose credibility with me when you use derogatory terms such as "you and yours".
Secondly, if these accusations are true, and this is the norm, then I think it's deplorable and I think that there should be action taken, I've already said that.
Third, you can't say something is possibly true and then state that as fact. There could possibly be life on Mars. That's FACT! It's possible that ghosts are real. That's FACT!! It's possible that I have 3 assholes. That's FACT!! Yes, it's a possibility that the sources and their stories are true. However, it's not FACT until those stories are coming from a named source or until the accused admits to it. Until then it's some pissed off ex-employees venting.
I'm sure that not everyone at CIG is happy, but I also don't think that there is widespread racism, harassment, and poor quality of life. I've checked out the glassdoor reviews. I should also mention that since yesterday 2 reviews have been removed. So that was interesting. Either way, it suffers from metacritic disease. It's a 1 or a 5. We've currently got a territorial pissing match where anonymous people are posting 1s to seem relevant and then, apparently, current employees posting 5s. So there's really nothing credible going on right now. No information is good information at the moment. So stream the office at CIG. Put everyone in the limelight. Again, the only FACT is that there is nothing that's FACT at the moment.
Hope that clears up your who misunderstanding of the word.
I'm sure you think you added something to the discussion with that post but you left nothing for me to respond to so good on you. Hope it helped you clear up any misunderstand you may have had with the entire matter, not just a ... um ... word.
Nope! Nothing's clear, that's the point. That's why there's no fact. Yet you seem to continually laud around like a preacher on a street corner like you're opinion is fact, when the only thing that's factual is the distinct lack of factual evidence.
I doubt anyone but you is so threatened by my opinion as to actually accept it as an undeniable fact. I suppose I should be honored. Thanks. I will, henceforth, attempt a bit harder to meet your lofty expectations.
/rolls eyes
I'm not threatened at all. I'm glad to see that you're not as delusional as your post seems to make you out to be, in that you'd believe what you're preaching to be actual fact. It's actually encouraging.
As for me, I've got LITERALLY 1 billion emails to respond to, so talk to you later.
Speaking of delusional, you sir are the very definition of the word.
Run along, Mr. 1 billion emails.
Yes, keep feeding my argument that you simply don't have any valid argument or point to argue from. Everyone knows that the one last bastion of hope for those without anything valid to say is personal attack.
So you call me delusional and that's perfectly ok, but when I turn around and call you the same, its me attacking you? Let's take it a bit futher, shall we? Go back and reread each of my posts, and yes that would include your initial post in which you it was you quoting me and sarcastically questioning my post, and then reread my responses to you and then come back to me and tell me who has been the one attacking who?
Nice followup article and I look forward to reading the article they write after they take the tour they've been offered.
Doubt they will get any relevant answers.
The employers will probably be scared they get fired or something if they say anything bad.
Lol, I see where this is going...
If the follow-up tour of CIG produces "evidence" to support the original article, the tour will be hailed as a journalistic triumph !
However, if the tour produces no "proof of wrongdoing", then the whole thing will be dismissed as a cover-up...
Some people have already passed sentence in this case. They're just looking for evidence to backup their verdict, lol
No, I'm just being realistic here.
Would you talk smack of the company you are in if journalists came? Infront of the owner of the company?
Would you really? Yep, guessed so.
No... But I would figure that with all the publicity and the alleged slave labor working conditions that the staff is under according to the story. There would be an army of current and former employees that would be rushing to bring CIG to justice. I know if I treated my employees like what is described in the article I would find myself in front of labor relations in an instant. Remember we are talking about very well educated people.
An honest question:
Are the jobs so scarce in games industry that people will suffer these kinds of abuses?

My name is Allie (otherwise known as Allie-C or the other Allie)
I
just wanted to add my 2 cents into this debate. I have to be upfront, I
wasn't a fan when I joined this company. I knew who Chris was and had
played Freelancer when it came out. However my gaming days diminished
once I found music (concerts are expensive y’all). However working at
the company has made me fan as passionate as you guys out there.
Seeing
what I get to see and being here with the team, you can’t help but
become a major believer in this project. There is nothing but a lot of
love and mutual respect within this team. That goes for CS and community
guys, right up to the top. When I first came to this company I was a
kid straight out of uni and it was the support and the encouragement
that I got, that has allowed me to grow in confidence. From Sandi who
trained me to the other CS guys, it’s always been nothing but support. I
was just as excited you all were to meet them in person when we headed
over to Gamescom. So trust me, when I say, my gaming days are back.
So
I just want to close with a thank you to all the backers who have been
just as awesome and welcoming. Your belief is overwhelming and you make
our job a joy.
"A true visionary once said this. I don’t think
there is a statement more fitting in describing what has been going on
lately. Most recent developments more so than ever.
I think it is
safe to say that due to our phenomenal size, we have attracted the
attention of people who have no interest in whether Star Citizen gets
made or not. These people are only interested in seeing things burn and
vindicating themselves.
I am truly blessed and fortunate to be an OB who has made it to the ‘inside’.
As a backer who gets to have a long and hard look behind that curtain, I can say, I am not worried.
In
my year here at Star Citizen, I have come across nothing but the
hardest working, dedicated and most genuinely passionate people.
Not
only is it an utter privilege and honour to be allowed to work
alongside such people, but it is also the most fun I have ever had in my
life.
From every angle Cloud Imperium Games has given me nothing but an open ear, respect and the feeling of being truly valued. I
have been working Customer Service for a long time now, and in no other
company is an often neglected part of the business such as CS, valued
as highly as it is here at CIG.
Here even the most junior member can make a real difference.
Erin,
Chris and Sandi have nothing done nothing but give us the utmost
support to ensure we’re able to take care of our backers. Anyone having
worked in this field will know how unprecedented this is.
I work in an environment in which I am supported, valued and respected - companywide with no exceptions.
There is not a day I don’t wake up excited and happy to go to work with CIG.
I know you guys get worried sometimes.
Just don’t forget why you clicked ‘Pledge’ way back when – remember the reason?
The Dream of Star Citizen. That’s why.
Despite everything that has gone on, this is the one thing which has not changed and will not change.
Haters will hate.
People who don’t want to see, will not.
Unfortunately, this will also never change.
I re-pledge my complete and utter support for our Chairman, Star Citizen and our backers. No hesitations. No doubts.
"I try not to go on too much but I feel as though I need to say something as well.
Speaking
as a Kickstarter backer and personal fan of Chris and Erin's work from
as far back as it goes, it has been nothing less than an honour and
privilege to work with and for Sandi. Few people have as much passion
and dedication for this project as she does and it shows daily. I feel
proud to be a part, however small, of this amazing team and overwhelmed
by the support and raw enthusiasm I see from my colleagues. I simply
cannot fathom why and how anyone would want to negatively impact this
effort or make personal remarks.
I'd like to personally thank
the community, chatroll and all the backers that are in this with us to
the end (and beyond). "
Hi Justin Chambers here, I know you may be
like, “wait who is this guy!?” And not that I wouldn’t mind
staying that way. I am not afraid of getting on my soap box and
standing firm for what I believe in! Because if you don’t stand for
something, you will fall for everything.
I am going to keep
this simple, because you have heard a lot of long responses, which
rightfully so pointed out many of the positive things that I agree
with.
I am here to say is I’ve only worked for CIG from 3
months as the Editor of the Community content released weekly and my
perspective is, “I am blessed.” It is truly an amazing
opportunity to work here and work with these people. The laughter
that comes from the office each day can be heard from the streets of
sunny Santa Monica. I look forward to work every day and it’s very
rare you ever have a place like that. To be honest this is the
happiest I’ve been at a studio since my work with Universal
Pictures.
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your
life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you

have ever seen done… - Justin Chambers
"
"The reports of Star Citizen's downfall have
been greatly exaggerated."
"Hello Citizens,
Not
too long ago, I was a backer like yourselves.
From that
perspective, I wanted to share some thoughts about this whole stigma
about Star Citizen floating around out there.
When I was
first told about Star Citizen's existence, and that Chris Roberts was
making it, I pledged for a Rear Admiral package within 5 minutes of
finishing watching Chris Roberts Pitch.
The moment the Bengal
Carrier flashed onto the screen and swept past the camera with a F7A
Hornet Escort, I knew immediately this was something I had been
waiting for.
Little did I know that my pledge would soon lead
me into one of the most inviting and caring communities I think I can
ever recall seeing rally together. Even less aware I would eventually
end up working for a company I had dreamed about, for the better part
of my life.
CIG and its community speaks volumes to someone
who has worked for Blizzard Entertainment for 4 years, and Jagex for
2 years. CIG, honestly has something very special here, something
unique.
This extends beyond simple hype. I have witnessed
heart warming and remarkable acts of charity between members of our
community. While I am not a developer, I do have the unique
perspective of working closely with our community in customer
service. Quite frankly, I love it and I feel every bit as valued as
the guys building an Idris behind me.
When I saw what was
published today on Escapist, I honestly could not believe they were
talking about the Company I have been closely following Since 2013,
or working for.
I have met Sandi frequently, and none of what
of the vile remarks said about her chimes any truth. Until I walked
through the doors at Foundry 42, I could never have appreciated how
dedicated our developers are to seeing this project through, the
passion they are pouring into what they do.
Or our QA team,
working long hours to ensure the game reaches that level of quality
you all deserve to enjoy. They even order their dinner into the
office, working long hours.
Audio team work tirelessly
bringing the game to life with vibrant Sound Effects and artistry,
crafting genius!
As a backer, I have not once had any reason
to believe that CIG has been doing anything sinister. Not one
moment.
Everyone is here, working their heart and soul into
something that publishers have never dared try before.
I am
proud to tell people where I work, and what I do for a living. "We
build spaceships....internet spaceships, the best damn internet
spaceships on the planet"
It is rare to feel as valued as
I do in a position as seemingly mundane as customer service, it is
anything but. I get to talk with people who are passionate about the
game, and work along side those who have just as much passion to show
and give.
Our community continues to shine through, and your
support is never under appreciated.
For every dollar you throw
at this project, for every dime and quarter raised. For every polygon
lovingly and meticulously crafted into a Starship, for every hopeful
pledge and every new citizen that is welcomed into our community, we
get closer to that dream we all want to see realized.
For
every groan uttered from one of Ben's puns, for every camera lens
switched on to film our content, for every post and key mashed, we
get closer to the dream.
I love this company, and the people I
work with, and what was posted today...DOES NOT....represent the
company I work for.
We will see you at CitizenCon 2015 in
person or in spirit. Haters need not apply. "
"I've had a lot of jobs over the years,
because I recognized early on that I learned better from experience
than from schooling. Because of this, I took a lot of jobs and left a
lot of jobs when I felt I'd learned what I could from them. I've
worked as, in no particular order:
a Construction Contractor,
a Barista, an IT Professional, an actual High School Drama Teacher,
an Audio Engineer for both Television and Radio, a Retail Supervisor

others that escape recall at this moment.
I mention all this
because there are all kinds of jobs, and all kinds of workplaces, and
what's right for one isn't necessarily right for another, and for
many workplaces, you never know if it's going to be a good fit
between employee and employer until you get there. Before I came to
Star Citizen, as a devout backer, I thought I knew everything I
needed to about working for Star Citizen.
And I've never been

demanding in equal measure. I've seen every emotion in the human

for many, this isn't just a job: you build a very real attachment to
the thing. It resonates deeply when people are pleased with what
they're seeing, as much as it does when they do not. This collective
endeavor to do the thing they say can't be done, that's never been
done, and then to do it in a form and manner that's scares the
industry must scare the crap out of some people. It makes sense that
it would.

here each and every day. It's hard work building the impossible, and
it's not for everyone. People will come and people will go because of
this. Speaking only for myself, this place quickly became a home. My
co-workers were dedicated, my superiors easily approachable, and it's

surprise or astonish me. I feel like I wandered in the desert for so
many years, looking for my place in things, and I don't feel that way
anymore.
This is the place where I belong.

The problem is not the lack of jobs in gaming industries but the reality that ensues.
Who would hire you when they saw you on journal x talking bad about the company you were working with? What if you do the same on their new company? No one likes a big mouth not even in jail.

I agree. I was just talking to an actor friend of mine about the Bill Cosby scandal. She said she could understand why most people wouldn't want to report a crime like that. If someone is big in the industry that you work in they could make it their business to make sure you're black-balled for your career.
If others come forth it becomes easier to come forth yourself because you have others saying the same things basically. People may have a hard time believing one person but are more likely to believe five or more.

My name is Allie (otherwise known as Allie-C or the other Allie)
I just wanted to add my 2 cents into this debate. I have to be upfront, I wasn't a fan when I joined this company. I knew who Chris was and had played Freelancer when it came out. However my gaming days diminished once I found music (concerts are expensive y’all). However working at the company has made me fan as passionate as you guys out there.
Seeing what I get to see and being here with the team, you can’t help but become a major believer in this project. There is nothing but a lot of love and mutual respect within this team. That goes for CS and community guys, right up to the top. When I first came to this company I was a kid straight out of uni and it was the support and the encouragement that I got, that has allowed me to grow in confidence. From Sandi who trained me to the other CS guys, it’s always been nothing but support. I was just as excited you all were to meet them in person when we headed over to Gamescom. So trust me, when I say, my gaming days are back.
So I just want to close with a thank you to all the backers who have been just as awesome and welcoming. Your belief is overwhelming and you make our job a joy.
See you out there Citizens o7."

„This is bullshit“
"A true visionary once said this. I don’t think there is a statement more fitting in describing what has been going on lately. Most recent developments more so than ever.
I think it is safe to say that due to our phenomenal size, we have attracted the attention of people who have no interest in whether Star Citizen gets made or not. These people are only interested in seeing things burn and vindicating themselves.
I am truly blessed and fortunate to be an OB who has made it to the ‘inside’.
As a backer who gets to have a long and hard look behind that curtain, I can say, I am not worried.
In my year here at Star Citizen, I have come across nothing but the hardest working, dedicated and most genuinely passionate people.
Not only is it an utter privilege and honour to be allowed to work alongside such people, but it is also the most fun I have ever had in my life.
From every angle Cloud Imperium Games has given me nothing but an open ear, respect and the feeling of being truly valued.
I have been working Customer Service for a long time now, and in no other company is an often neglected part of the business such as CS, valued as highly as it is here at CIG.
Here even the most junior member can make a real difference.
Erin, Chris and Sandi have nothing done nothing but give us the utmost support to ensure we’re able to take care of our backers. Anyone having worked in this field will know how unprecedented this is.

Speaking as a Kickstarter backer and personal fan of Chris and Erin's work from as far back as it goes, it has been nothing less than an honour and privilege to work with and for Sandi. Few people have as much passion and dedication for this project as she does and it shows daily. I feel proud to be a part, however small, of this amazing team and overwhelmed by the support and raw enthusiasm I see from my colleagues. I simply cannot fathom why and how anyone would want to negatively impact this effort or make personal remarks.
I'd like to personally thank the community, chatroll and all the backers that are in this with us to the end (and beyond). "

"A New Perspective
Hi Justin Chambers here, I know you may be like, “wait who is this guy!?” And not that I wouldn’t mind staying that way. I am not afraid of getting on my soap box and standing firm for what I believe in! Because if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for everything.
I am going to keep this simple, because you have heard a lot of long responses, which rightfully so pointed out many of the positive things that I agree with.
I am here to say is I’ve only worked for CIG from 3 months as the Editor of the Community content released weekly and my perspective is, “I am blessed.” It is truly an amazing opportunity to work here and work with these people. The laughter that comes from the office each day can be heard from the streets of sunny Santa Monica. I look forward to work every day and it’s very rare you ever have a place like that. To be honest this is the happiest I’ve been at a studio since my work with Universal Pictures.
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. - Steve Jobs”
This is some of the best work I have ever seen done…

"The reports of Star Citizen's downfall have been greatly exaggerated."
"Hello Citizens,
Not too long ago, I was a backer like yourselves.
From that perspective, I wanted to share some thoughts about this whole stigma about Star Citizen floating around out there.
When I was first told about Star Citizen's existence, and that Chris Roberts was making it, I pledged for a Rear Admiral package within 5 minutes of finishing watching Chris Roberts Pitch.
The moment the Bengal Carrier flashed onto the screen and swept past the camera with a F7A Hornet Escort, I knew immediately this was something I had been waiting for.
Little did I know that my pledge would soon lead me into one of the most inviting and caring communities I think I can ever recall seeing rally together. Even less aware I would eventually end up working for a company I had dreamed about, for the better part of my life.
CIG and its community speaks volumes to someone who has worked for Blizzard Entertainment for 4 years, and Jagex for 2 years. CIG, honestly has something very special here, something unique.
This extends beyond simple hype. I have witnessed heart warming and remarkable acts of charity between members of our community.
While I am not a developer, I do have the unique perspective of working closely with our community in customer service. Quite frankly, I love it and I feel every bit as valued as the guys building an Idris behind me.
When I saw what was published today on Escapist, I honestly could not believe they were talking about the Company I have been closely following Since 2013, or working for.
I have met Sandi frequently, and none of what of the vile remarks said about her chimes any truth. Until I walked through the doors at Foundry 42, I could never have appreciated how dedicated our developers are to seeing this project through, the passion they are pouring into what they do.
Or our QA team, working long hours to ensure the game reaches that level of quality you all deserve to enjoy. They even order their dinner into the office, working long hours.
Audio team work tirelessly bringing the game to life with vibrant Sound Effects and artistry, crafting genius!
As a backer, I have not once had any reason to believe that CIG has been doing anything sinister. Not one moment.
Everyone is here, working their heart and soul into something that publishers have never dared try before.
I am proud to tell people where I work, and what I do for a living. "We build spaceships....internet spaceships, the best damn internet spaceships on the planet"
It is rare to feel as valued as I do in a position as seemingly mundane as customer service, it is anything but. I get to talk with people who are passionate about the game, and work along side those who have just as much passion to show and give.
Our community continues to shine through, and your support is never under appreciated.
For every dollar you throw at this project, for every dime and quarter raised. For every polygon lovingly and meticulously crafted into a Starship, for every hopeful pledge and every new citizen that is welcomed into our community, we get closer to that dream we all want to see realized.
For every groan uttered from one of Ben's puns, for every camera lens switched on to film our content, for every post and key mashed, we get closer to the dream.
I love this company, and the people I work with, and what was posted today...DOES NOT....represent the company I work for.
We will see you at CitizenCon 2015 in person or in spirit. Haters need not apply. "

CIG Disco Lando
"I've had a lot of jobs over the years, because I recognized early on that I learned better from experience than from schooling. Because of this, I took a lot of jobs and left a lot of jobs when I felt I'd learned what I could from them. I've worked as, in no particular order:
a Construction Contractor, a Barista, an IT Professional, an actual High School Drama Teacher, an Audio Engineer for both Television and Radio, a Retail Supervisor or Manager several times over, a Professional Baseball Mascot, a Telemarketer, a Stage and Film Actor, a WoW Game Master, a Prosthetics Support Specialist, a Home Improvement Professional, a Director of Operations for a Professional Baseball Team, a Cashier, a Mr. Trash, a Theme Park Performer, a Truck Loader, a Published Author of textbooks and magazine articles, a Hospitality Worker and a few others that escape recall at this moment.
I mention all this because there are all kinds of jobs, and all kinds of workplaces, and what's right for one isn't necessarily right for another, and for many workplaces, you never know if it's going to be a good fit between employee and employer until you get there. Before I came to Star Citizen, as a devout backer, I thought I knew everything I needed to about working for Star Citizen.
And I've never been more wrong in my life.
This is so much better than I expected.
This is a place for gamers, and when I say that, I mean people that come READY TO PLAY. The work is hard, the hours are long, and the rewards... well, the rewards are history in the making.
The people that are here are as dedicated as any I've met on any job I've had. They come in early and stay late, and they work under the light of a community that can be both supportive and demanding in equal measure. I've seen every emotion in the human specturm from my fellow employees in the time I've been here, because for many, this isn't just a job: you build a very real attachment to the thing. It resonates deeply when people are pleased with what they're seeing, as much as it does when they do not. This collective endeavor to do the thing they say can't be done, that's never been done, and then to do it in a form and manner that's scares the industry must scare the crap out of some people. It makes sense that it would.
But courage isn't the absence of fear, it's the ability to let that fear inform your actions and proceed intelligently anyway.
Ands that's what I see people doing here each and every day. It's hard work building the impossible, and it's not for everyone. People will come and people will go because of this. Speaking only for myself, this place quickly became a home. My co-workers were dedicated, my superiors easily approachable, and it's a rare day that some aspect of this amazing development doesn't surprise or astonish me. I feel like I wandered in the desert for so many years, looking for my place in things, and I don't feel that way anymore.
This is the place where I belong.
With Chris and Sandi and Ben and Alexis and Thomas and Toast (I still can't call him Steven) and everyone else that comes in each day to make the impossible possible. It's okay to be afraid, but it's even better to have the courage to succeed as well. And to those of you that do:
I'll see you in the 'Verse. "

Who would hire you when they saw you on journal x talking bad about the company you were working with? What if you do the same on their new company? No one likes a big mouth not even in jail.
