Verdant brink and Auric basin is always full unless you have the bad luck to get into a newly opened map. Tangled depths usually have slightly less players but still plenty.
Dragons pass is an issue though, it needs a lot of players to work and rarely gets cleared on weekdays (but usually at weekends). I am not sure if most players think it is too hard, boring or if there is an issue with the mega server technology for it.
The WvW map is another thing, WvW seriously need that revamp they are working on. It is clearly that HoT mainly was a PvE expansion but the PvP gameplay needs improvements as well.
Still, generally I see loads of players in HoT any time I log in. The mega server tech works pretty well there (besides Dragons pass).

The problem with their WvW overhaul is they are doing the opposite of what WvW players want so they are essentially killing the game mode with their idea of " improvements" . They did not bother actually listening to their WvW players, so WvW players are suffering from a mass extinction...
The revamp may be the problem rather than an improvement from what we have seen tested thus far.
As far as PVE maps.. I would rather be set on fire than do PvE so I wouldn't know. XD

The WvW players kept complaining that the blob was too strong. The blob could get anywhere fast. Now it doesn't. The WvW players complain there is no blob vs blob.
