I don't need to visit you, you can just answer my question. Takes you less than 1 minute to look at your DK2 and find out. But since we both know you don't have a DK2 let's leave it at that.
remind me and I will do that when I get home in 7 hours. In the meantime stop it. why on gods green earth would someone lie about something like that...seriously? no DONT answer that question, just remind me at teh end of the work day. Thanks
If you had one you would know.
7 hours won't help you because there are no images of it on the internet. We both know you are a liar. so let's just leave it at that.
you are unbelievable. will not even let me do it at the end of the work day...unbelievable
go away please

That's a DK1. It's lighter than the DK2. Cause you would not know that since you don't own either of them.

People here talk about VR not being the thing right now because of the price, the price is just right to lure those that keep buying new generation iPhones every year for 500-600$+ for absolutely no benefits except for false "bragging rights", and VR delivers just that. The only good thing I see out of VR is maybe with the Discovery Channel or some flight simulator games. Other than that, forget it. I'm not putting 500 bucks on a head set with screens a few inches away from my eyes and feel like a total no lifer. VR was never meant for gaming, but gamers these days jump in to the tinniest new tech gadgets that will never grab on over time. Most people can't even tolerate 3D glasses for 30 minutes a month, you expect them to tolerate a contraption on their heads for a few hours a day? Because let's face it, when we game, we game for at least 1-2 hours at a time. I can see VR as a great torture tool to get intel out of a criminal or terrorist, just slap the VR on their heads with Bieber singing, that'll get them talking in no time. Lol I can already see this being a skit on Key & Peele or Saturday Night Live

Here is what I disagree with
1. Gamers jump at the tinniest new tech gadget. My impression has been when it comes to tech gadgets gamers are actually not on the early adopter scale.
2. I'm not putting 500 bucks on a head set with screens a few inches away from my eyes. You already are. Its just that its 12" instead of 1-2" inches. The screen you have been staring most of your life is basically the same technology as the screens. Its just the pixels are much closer together. So speaking for myself with 34 years behind a computer monitor there are some side effects but nothing major.
3. VR was never meant for gaming. I think when VR was first introduced to the public on Computer Cronicles games where very much a subject matter. As many have said 'gaming' is an exercise in a virtual worlds. Some of the first studies ever done on the possible effects of virtual reality was basically an interactive game(ish).
4.. VR headsets are not for everyone however for those that can tollerate a motorcycle helment, a bicycle helmet, mountain climbing helmet or skate board helmet should be ok wearing a VR headset for at least as long as they have fun on those mentioned hobbies

$00 i honestly have no care for the product what so ever,it is worth nothing to me.
Get the games where they need to be first before trying to sell me more gimmicks. It is unreal what has happened the last 15-20 years,we got phones into gaming, internet into gaming,Facebook and then that added gaming ,esports, browser games,Twitch Tv,all this and we are still looking for more ways to cut some profits out of a single game.
When i am long gone, there will likely be another 5 or so ideas trying to grind more money from a single game.B C D rated games but tons of money revolving around them, our parents of yester year would be rolling in their graves.
I can see it now,..Twisted Sister "What you wanna do with your life"...I wanna GAME and stream and sit in the house 24/7 and look pale/white,....Parent:Ok sounds good, you had me worried i thought you were an outcast !!.

The tech is worth 400-500 bucks right now. There is no doubt about it, but its not worth that much for another reason. The average person wont fork that out. Why? $500 bucks for the headset, $500-1000 for the PC to use it. For the average home, its just to high a price tag.
So less people using it means less money for a developer to make games for it. So it will get less support making games. So now you have $500 VR headset thats no longer worth $500 bucks.
These things need to be made affordable to make it into the average home. $100-200. Even if its not a 1080p experience. Sure there are people that will buy the 1080p model, but you need the lower end tech to make it a product lots of people can use and support. So game developers take notice.
So really whats the Oculus worth to me now? Not a penny.

within a few years everyone who has a new computer will be able to run it without problem.
Its pretty much an exact comparison to PC games and video cards.
You buy a PC, it rocks, then toward the 3rd year a few games come out that your machine cant handle, then a few more, then more. You then buy a new computer with....a new video card (video card = Oculus in this example).
Its pretty much the only reason all of us dont simply use a $200 chromebook for our home PC. Pretty much every upgrade and every home PC you have bought for the last 10 years or so is pretty much because of games.

That adds to the value of the Oculus how? So it wont be worth supporting for a few years till more people own them and there is enough games its worth buying. How many games even support VR right now?

Answer Question 1: it is pretty much EXACTLY to a TEE how video cards work. First 6-12 months a new video card comes out only the die hard with tons of cash buy one just to play the 1 or 2 games on the market that require its horsepower. The comparision is almost exactly the same
some of the games on the list are added support to existing games and some are games created explicitly for Oculus in mind. I do not think there has ever been a technology with more content already created before the product is even out then Oculus.

$100 would be the most I would pay but I am not interested in the device.
I also do not like the comparison to GPUs.. Before discreet GPUs became popular there were still plenty of games and gamers. AOL games mostly had games that didnt need a discreent GPU and the Gamestorm service was the same and they had hundreds of thousands of subscribers ( if not 1+ million ). And that isnt counting games that werent on these services either.
I didnt upgrade to a discreet GPU until around 2000 or so and that was to play EQ and AvP. I really dont see a " killer app " coming anytime soon for VR that would make me think " I have to have it ".. Especially at their price points.

1. a 'killer app' is not needed in the first place. 2. as with pretty much every device ever created before release there is zero content. With Oculus however there is 176 games. 3. games before 'descreet GPU' have a killer app to make it popular? nope. 4. Has nobody even seen these two upcoming games? https://www.evevalkyrie.com/ http://www.505games.com/games/adr1ft that alone is two more games then any other new technology had before friggin release day

1. that is more games that have ever been developed before a product was released...like...ever in the history of everness. I dont think even smart phones had that many apps out before the phones were launched very likely COMBINED samsung and Apple 2. I think there is about 12 AAA titles released PER YEAR, 176 aint a drop in the bucket of support of a device that is 2 days away from being officially released.

A GPU will make ALL GAMES run better and look better. A VR headset will NOT make games look or run better, it will make 0.1% of the games have additional features.
That is a MASSIVE difference.
But we all know you don't even have a DK1 or DK2 so you obviously would not know that.

could not disagree more.
In the areas that I am comparing it almost an exact match. In areas I am NOT comparing (like you are doing now) its not a match.
People spend (I know because I am one of them) upwards of $400 on a video card just to play ONE game which otherwise on their machine would not be playable. They know buying the video card that over time there will be more and more and more games coming out that meet the same standard.
its the same with VR headsets.

Are you seriously saying that when someone upgrades to a $400 GPU it has the same effect on ALL THEIR GAMES as if they would have bought a VR headset and still use their old GPU?
You are not serious, right?
A GPU upgrades ALL GAMES. It's a fact. How you can even argue against that and compare it to a VR headset that adds some effect to 1% of all games is ridiculous.
PS: Which area are you comparing and which am i comparing? Curious because that makes no sense, we are talking about games. There is no other area.

nope that is NOT what I am saying.
I am saying I bought a $400 video card EXPLICTLY to run Crysis. That was my pure and unfiltered motivation. the extra ping in the pot was that yes I would run my existing games better.
HAVING SAID THAT, you are getting lost in the details. Try to follow along here.
I want to play something I dont have the computer for it I buy the computer for it now I can play it
That is the entire cycle of video cards AND Oculus Rift. Most people who bought a machine this year will be able to run Oculus with no issues at all. Other people who have been LOOKING for a reason to upgrade to a new machine now have a reason to upgrade and oh by the way THEY WERE GOING TO UPGRADE EVENTUALLY ANYWAY................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So factoring in the cost of the PC is a bit like saying Crysis cost me $460. Not exactly being accurate now is it?
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.
If i was planning to buy VR i would pay the same as my monitor. Otherwise i dont need another display. With that said, i still believe VR will cause vision problems so i wont take that risk. And if i was going to buy VR it would probably be Playstation VR (morpheus), not Occulus. But i doubt i buy VR at all.

WOW, you are really struggling to get out of this mess now. Are you making all this up on the spot because it sure looks like you do. You never said anything about buying a $400 card just for Crysis. Do you read your past posts?

There is no point in debating the issue. Not everyone will like what you like and vice-versa.
No I don't think that's possible. Reason? I feel this sudden upsurge in VR interest is an intentional company driven attempt at viral marketing for a device the industry doesn't have complete confidence in
That involves a complex and elabroate web of conspiracy. its not impossible but its unlikely. Thus far the feedback from consumers has exceeded exceptions and the number of large companies getting behind the technology is skyrocketing.
If it is as you say, then whatever company that is behind this mastermind (facebook or Oculus) is likely the best covert marketing company ever created. Like to the level of 'we faked the moon landing' level.
They would have to be able to convince consumers that they want it, and convince industry that they dont want it while at the same time talking them into acting as if they do want it

You got insider information or work for any VR manufacturer since you know that feedback from consumers exceeded expectations? You must know their expectations, please share. You also seem to know the feedback of consumers, care to share that information?
Got any proof that the technology is "skyrocketing" as you say? I don't see anything "skyrocketing" since nothing is released yet.

So lets see Sony is onboard with VR Facebook is onboard with VR Google is behind VR (they have stated the Cardboard was not a joke but rather a demo of how easy and imminent this technology is) Samsung is investing in VR Marvel Comics is onboard for investing in movie style VR content Sky TV is onboard for investing in movie style VR content Universal is onboard for investing in movie/tv style VR content Disney is investing in VR of its own Netflix has invested in VR apps Valve has created its own VR device HTC is investing in VR Raze has made its own VR device. Cannon is making its own VR device ViewMaster is back
I think there are several more media companies that have invested in VR content but I dont have time to look in detail right now.
Thing is if the 'industry' (whatever that means specifically) is not interested there is a lot of activity that appears they are interested.
Here this should help. There seems to be a lot of activity from multiple companies for their to 'not be an interest'
'PitchBook analysts said that there have been 119 VR-related deals totaling roughly $602 million in 2015. The report singles out a $65 million September funding round led by Disney DIS -1.99% in VR camera maker Jaunt as one of the year’s top investments. As Fortune reported, Jaunt has an in-house studio that makes virtual reality content for companies like The North Face, ABC News, and Beatles legend Paul McCartney. Arthur van Hoff, co-founder and CTO of Jaunt, recently said at Fortune’s Global Forum that Hollywood movie studios are especially interested in investing in VR. The top venture capital firms investing in VR are Rothenberg Ventures, Intel Capital, and Google Ventures, according to the PitchBook report'.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Answer question 1: 176 and that does not include any surprises that might be announced during CES
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_with_Oculus_Rift_support
some of the games on the list are added support to existing games and some are games created explicitly for Oculus in mind. I do not think there has ever been a technology with more content already created before the product is even out then Oculus.

2. as with pretty much every device ever created before release there is zero content. With Oculus however there is 176 games.
3. games before 'descreet GPU' have a killer app to make it popular? nope.
4. Has nobody even seen these two upcoming games?
https://www.evevalkyrie.com/
http://www.505games.com/games/adr1ft
that alone is two more games then any other new technology had before friggin release day

There is no point in debating the issue. Not everyone will like what you like and vice-versa.
176 games is a spit in the bucket. This is years from mainstream.

/smh

Are you seriously saying that when someone upgrades to a $400 GPU it has the same effect on ALL THEIR GAMES as if they would have bought a VR headset and still use their old GPU?
You are not serious, right?
A GPU upgrades ALL GAMES. It's a fact. How you can even argue against that and compare it to a VR headset that adds some effect to 1% of all games is ridiculous.
PS: Which area are you comparing and which am i comparing? Curious because that makes no sense, we are talking about games. There is no other area.

I am saying I bought a $400 video card EXPLICTLY to run Crysis. That was my pure and unfiltered motivation. the extra ping in the pot was that yes I would run my existing games better.
HAVING SAID THAT, you are getting lost in the details. Try to follow along here.
I want to play something
I dont have the computer for it
I buy the computer for it
now I can play it
That is the entire cycle of video cards AND Oculus Rift.

Thus far the feedback from consumers has exceeded exceptions and the number of large companies getting behind the technology is skyrocketing.
If it is as you say, then whatever company that is behind this mastermind (facebook or Oculus) is likely the best covert marketing company ever created. Like to the level of 'we faked the moon landing' level.
They would have to be able to convince consumers that they want it, and convince industry that they dont want it while at the same time talking them into acting as if they do want it
