    They're intentional.
May I ask why? Or is he just 12 and thinks it's funny?
He's not 12, but if your 12yo is making vids like that, you might think about MIT.

Is this the MIT I am thinking of or somewhere else where adding sound to video is classified as 'genius'?

What are the entry requirements? A pulse?

Maybe someone should tell him that the crew of a Constellation is 4 and not 23 (thats the Javelin). One pilot, two gunners, secondary pilot for the P52 Merlin snubfighter.

And that his quote of 3000 $ for a Connie is more than an order of magnitude too large.

But let me guess ... that was also "intentional". Yeah, right......

SA has some creative (and sometimes even funny) people ... the creator of that video is not one of them.

Maybe. Because clearly a BRAIN was not required.

Communication with a target audience is an art. In the same manner a product may increase draw with undereducated people by ending sentences with prepositions or intentionally misusing 50-cent words, a lampoon artist can illustrate the similar nature of cognition of the target of sarcasm, be that the game developers or the sycophantic fans.

They're hit pieces, like political cartoons. He does well depicting the woeful status of the project.

BTW you didn't answer my question: Why does he intentionally misspell words? It makes his admittedly otherwise professional-looking video seem not so much.
    Yes, I did.

    I guess you mean this:

"Communication with a target audience is an art. It seems to me that the glitchy ALPHA video would fit the second paragraph. I don't see why he would destroy the English language as well. It just makes you look stupid, not what you are lampooning.

I'm going ahead and call bullshit on that one Adjuvant1. Obvious unintentional spelling mistakes are obvious.

WC2 was directed and written by the main programmer for WC1.  Roberts was credited as producer, but even his own sources say he wasn't as heavily involved in it as WC1.  Privateer was done by someone else entirely. Only citation for Roberts is for 'original concept'. Privateer 2 was only named that late in production, to cash in on name recognition most likely.  Erin Roberts did that one.

Talking to friends who worked at Origin, one of their many beefs with Roberts was him taking credit for the work of others.   Every Roberts pronouncement is intended to increase the glory of Chris Roberts.  Thus things like the Youtube videos being listed on imdb as TV productions.

I talked to a bunch of folks who worked with him at Origin, and the stories were not pretty.

That's actually the point I was getting at. I don't think that CR has ever been a nuts and bolts guy. Like he's not solely responsible for the success of this product, or whatever else he's been on. I'm not, really, aware of anything where he was, what I would consider, "heavily" involved. I can't even say how heavily involved he is with SC. I've heard of some of the Origin stories, but what I've heard has sounded more like stories of a spoiled child. Ultimately, that shouldn't affect a project, though. He has great concepts. Maybe his ego isn't in check, I don't know. Can't say. Don't know him. However, I wouldn't say that his ego is the driving force behind why SC is late. Also, I wouldn't say that there are many people his equal who I've heard of being humble.

Okay, I think we agree on a lot of points there.  Though I'm not so believing in the 'Roberts Genius'.   The impression I've gotten is that he comes up with grand ideas that have no grounding in what's possible with the tech that's available.   Sometimes the ideas work, sometimes they are just not possible.  But time will get wasted trying to get impossible things done.  Or even things that don't add much to the game, but have become fixations.

Oh, and the micromanagement.  And the sycophants.  The leaked letter said that Roberts had no sense of scale.   Something like the look of the bootlaces were as important as the ships working in the game.  Not a guy you want as the final arbiter.   The SC fans' most fervent hope should be that Erin Roberts gets more influence and power in the project.  That, and supreme patience.

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

Ego run the very planet, its not like it is an uncommon trait in the industry, let alone all of society. Now the other end of this polarized subject however is a bit diff. That person has little to no accomplishments and has been tracked harassing others for his  entire career. Now going so far as to actively kill a persons career out of pure spite.

If Roberts and Smart are the generals of 2 opposing armies, I pick Roberts any day. At least he is just an egomaniac. I wont go into what the other guy is, seeing as the mods demand roses, rainbows and unicorns to cover up the real world on these forums and dont seem to have any respect for freedom of speech.

That's really how you see this, isn't it. You think people who disagree with CIG practices are all on the same team against you.

Eh, well, if I start plastering $1000+ backer negative comments all over, it would just be, "those are just impatient children who don't understand game development", or some other dumb reddit argument.

Personally I have know about Chris Roberts almost my entire gaming life. He has been there, done it and has the accolades under his belt to show he has a very successful career in the industry.

Derek Smart I have no clue who he is or why he is even involved in the same conversations but everything I read about him speak to me of a very unpleasant person. What has he done or achieved to even warrant taking seriously?

Unless you can provide proof otherwise then I will just accept his resume that the industry accepts.

So going on how the industry seems to view both these guys you have CR who has been associated with many great games and DS who has not.

Even if I didn't accept the opinion of his peers I can have an opinion based on my own experiences growing up.

Tell me, which games do you personally remember playing while growing up that CR was associated with and that DS was associated with. Wing commander and freelancer I remember playing and loved. I have never even heard of any of the games by DS.

Again, DE sounds like a bitter, jealous wannabe.

Well I thought it was all in good humor since he posted a link to encyclopediadramatica. Are we not on the same page here?  You know, if you make fun of others you should be able to take some jokes about yourself also.
