Graphics are still relevant. Combat is good with lots of class options (over 100 i believe) Crafting is complex but not complicated Housing/Farming is outstanding. Best I have ever seen and one of the big reasons I still love to play Ships and Sea Battles.... Great addition to any mmo Great fishing... how they made fishing fun in an mmo is mind blowing.
I think the horrible initial launch (i was not there) and the labor function killed off this game. I hope it sticks around for a long time.
as an aside I played that game and I could not stand the housing and farming I thought it was like a childs cartoon play yard at best. Now Wurm....now THAT is housing and farming...ha!
Yeah, but everything else was bad.
what you didnt like the combat!...ha!
but yeah given that housing, farm and your docks make up about 95% of the game I see no point in countering your claim
Yeah, you're right, that game's appeal was extremely limited which is another reason almost no one played/plays it. Its marketing really had nothing to do with its lack of success.

I dont agree but lets not get off topic and maybe we can join in the other off topic conversation here...HA!

Horusra said: in a realm where a MMO's quality is subjective to the user what other metric besides technical specs( i.e. lag, number of quest, etc.) that can be measured shows quality better than retention of players?
Liking product =/= quality product.
Quality isn't all that subjective.
The conversation was extremely on topic as we were talking about an MMO that you think is underrated. But I understand why you would rather not discuss the details about why Wurm may have actually been a stinker after all.
Horusra said: So you "like" it, but it is not "good". Define "good" then? What makes something "good" that is not subjective? I could sell you are artificially lab created pseudo-meat hamburger with no natural items in it that looks like a picture....is that now a good hamburger?
Good is general statement - it is a consensus, the summary of each individual subjective opinions. It is what people think, as opposed to what person likes.
You might not like WoW but it would be silly to say it is a bad game. Some goes the other way round - if you like a game, does not mean it has to be a good game.

and that is of course why ArcheAge housing and crafting is good.
oh wait...

Umm... no? I even agreed that Wurm had strong housing. Please try and understand what you read.
I would define a good hamburger as one that closely resembles what was advertised.
I don't have to like the hamburger in order for it to be good.
yeah...I wouldnt agree with that assessment at all.
that is like saying what would otherwise be your favorite MMO ever is not of good quality because the marketing team didnt understand it completely
I ain't talking about a marketing campaign.
If I say my hamburger has 2 all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun and it has all those things and looks just like the picture on the menu. Then I would define that as a good burger, every thing else is opinion.
I can't be the only one who was singing that McD's song as I read that lol

ah so you took my side note from a post that was on topic and ran with it in a completely different direction making it even more off topic than my side note or the McDonalds video I posted.
gotcha

No. I was speaking completely on topic.
You can post as many off topic posts as you want to.

Ahh Planetside 1... I've never really been a top score guy, I was too old when PC games got going to be a top contender. But in this game, I got a record! It was probably broken, but we had it for a while.
I was a Magrider specialist, and this happened back before they had collision caused momentum reduction. One day, the other Mag specialist in our guild and I decided to go in the same tank. He drove, I was gunner.
8 1/2 hours later, we deconstructed the tank and quit playing. My hands were so jazzed they were shaking!
1184 kills without a death. I still grin when I think about that...
At one point we went full speed into an enemy gathering point! He started strafing through a MASS of soldiers, and I was shooting at any vehicle I could see. A bit less than 110 kills in about 40 seconds. I thought we were going to die because so many 'bad guys' were shooting at us, but about that time 12 more magriders joined the battle! I think our smoking MAG had about 4% left by the time we got away from that fight.
The world is going to the dogs, which is just how I planned it!
Well, I'd have to say Dark Age of Camelot. It's PvP/RvR mechanics are still unmatched. It remains to be the best game in the pvp category, and it may remain the best for at least another 10 years. It is just too bad that the population is so small now, due to it being outdated...
Planetside 1 as well, it is so much better then 2. I also really enjoy eve online...
Agree about EQ2. Even today that engine is horrible. It did not age well and it basically handed WoW the market. SOE simply are not great developers, but Blizzard are.
Disagree about DAoC. Where even a 1 damage hit in PvP won't interrupt any cast you had in process. The combat system in that game was broken and completely melee biased.
It it also started the whole game from stealth tend with dagger classes.
...and then they argued about the meaning of "good"; this place never fails to deliver.

First one is Wakfu, I really liked the game but stopped playing it because of lack of population.
Second one is Rohan Online.
