I think Hangars will be predefined areas no? Just like spawn points to store and access ships, I don't think they have that much of a point when landing zones themselves store your ships, unless the game adds fees or some sort of consequence for that. O.o
Yeah, real hangars are only where the game allow them to be, respawn wise and regarding asset security and so on while you're logged off. I was more thinking of using caves as temporary hangars, when needed, and always guarded.
The closer we get to Vanduul controlled space, the more we're going to need both pirates and UEE allied forces to help protect us because these uncharted areas and enemy lines will be heavily used.
Myself, I don't trust pirates and don't want to cooperate with them, even against the Vanduul. I'd rather say - Ok, as long as you behave and don't pull any fifth columnist tricks then you can fly over there, away from me.

I think any landing zone would store ships safely anyway, but the Hangars can't be rendered useless because of that.
As they despawn once you go off, I wouldn't even worry about finding hiding spots to place them, unless you're exploring one area and you don't get blown up or even stolen by someone sneaking by after you leave the ship lol
what i am waiting for are how they develop the eco-system tools so the weather is a consequence of the eco-systems interacting like they hope to pull off and seeing it unfold. i can think of a scenario where there is light rain, the clouds clear, there is sunshine, then there is a heavy thunderstorm with the lightning tech the showcased some AtVs back all while the planet is revolving and rotating around its parent star. would be cool to just watch "nature" unfold.

Well, doesn't look like my Org will be interacting with yours that much
Hmm, you would rather lose characters to the Permadeath rule much more quickly (due to lack of rescue forces and respawn points) than respawn on a neutral hospital ship and NOT try to kill everyone on the hospital ship after you woke up?

We're a pirate Org, we don't plan to respawn on any ships not currently aligned with us. We have an in house Hope Class for larger Ops, but plan on runnning mainly in 4 man teams for quick hits.
I'm a member of a Medical, Search & Rescue, Cybernetics Research organization in Star Citizen.
Hey our is the same type of focus, support other players / orgs, only with the combat aspect for the sake of escorts.
But the reputation thing just makes it real, orgs should care for the reputation of their members so they don't get in trouble because of the mess ups of their own members.
Sounds like a good plan, hopefully won't end up like Eve being dominated by twats

Let's give power to the anti-twat orgs and get rid of them, It's something I always see has missed potential, there's always those groups, especially egocentric elitists, griefing and such that make you say "this is why we can't have nice things!"... But the way I see it the player Orgs could take dedication to pursue and haunt those type of players, now tha'd be great!

If you look at the org index on the RSI website, it lists the dedicated bounty hunter organizations. Pirates being baddies is a dependant part of the game. The more crime, the higher the bounty payout for killing or capturing them, as well as destroying/commandeering their ships, cargo and assets. You can then sell or keep what you took from pirates just like they will be doing. Call it 'stealing' from without any repercussions. Any pirate thinking this game will be an open gankbox without consequences will be disappointed. The more they commit crime, the more systems they will be restricted from and the more they will be sought after fulltime by hunters. It's going to make for awesome gameplay on all sides. And yes, there will be pirate controlled heavens like Grim Hex.
Every time Goonsquad/SA/DS post salt on Star Citizen, I spend more money on it. Every time a mentally disturbed former backer or Elite CMDR toxic emo comments, I spend more money on it. Every time they refuse to answer why they spend so much time arguing about a game they don't even like, I spend more money on it. Want to watch the world burn because you can't have your way? You got whats coming to you.

It's for that exact reason our Org has split the tasks. Our fencers wont take part in any combat, in order to keep a clean(ish) record, hopefully allowing them a lot more access to trading than I as a combat pilot.
That's smart planning, @Balmong. That way, you can have cargo haulers and other necessary logistic types with a clean record uphold the rest of your organization, and you won't depend so much on other orgs to do trade with you.
However, I see two possible problems. 1) to split up an org in different dedicated divisions the org must be large. 2) pirates who can keep their record clean are rare? Either they cannot resist the temptation to do wrong, or they will manage to have a clean record without sweating but then may feel misaligned with the rest of the org. But I guess it could be done.
Yes, of course. Using (an)other account(s) for boyscout business is natural. However, I wonder if all pirates have the mindset to perform inside the law, even if they use a separate account and try hard to be lawful. I know I would have a hard time doing pirate business (it depends on what type of business we're talking about). I don't know if I'd be able to fit in at all because my heart wouldn't be in it and that'd show.
I can only bring (again) the example of EVE Online.
Some of the worst pirates and player butchers in low sec and 0.0 space have secondary accounts with ULTRA law abiding freighter pilots that would never be bothered by CONCORD police or the navy patrols.
So ... the pirate mindset in my experience is pretty flexible.
I haven't played EVE Online but I believe you. I guess it depends on the person. I couldn't go much beyond my nature, even when role playing. It'd be no fun in the long run to play as someone I can't relate morally to. The immersion element in roleplaying would be lost to me.
Some updated info on Tractor Beams from dev in Spectrum, also relevant to what was discussed time ago here about them (Cutlass in context):
CIG Matt Sherman - The rework has Tractor Beams, yes, though their functionality will be coming online in a future patch.
CIG Matt Sherman - There'll be 2 smaller beams on the front for pinning a disabled target, and one at the rear-ramp to assist with pulling items into the hold.
CIG Matt Sherman - You could have someone outside pushing, or someone inside pulling it in with the beam. One existing does not disqualify the other from existing as well.
CIG Matt Sherman - Tractor Beams aren't in 3.0, so doesn't matter about their functionality, that'll get detailed when they're more an imminent thing to be added.
Thanks for the link Bacon. PC Gamer publishes decent material but this article appears to boast about being the first person outside of CIG to land on a moon, only to tell people if they want to read the rest of the article, they need to guy a subscription.
I got to be the first person outside of CIG to land on a moon and
several other new features I got to check out (as well as what CIG has
planned for Star Citizen beyond the 3.0 update) in the next issue of PC

PC Gamer is a subscription site. They make money from subscribers so don't think to see "free" info.
I read an article last night about a guy who had access he talked about insurance and seeing locks on the ships. He talked about the insurance starting off basic at first then expanding and different types of locks and them working against preventing insurance fraud, like players giving a ship away or selling it as a stolen ship and later reporting it stolen to make extra income.
Trying to find it again so I can post a link. I think it was pcgamer article but it was late so I'm not sure.
As ships become persistent objects instead of throwaway vehicles, anti-theft devices and insurance claims will be added.

Yes, one thing is stealing ships in the game and become an in-game criminal, which is perfectly Ok, another thing is stealing from CIG and become a RL criminal. Those who get extra "income" like this are also cheaters who get an advantage over other players. They have no place in this game and should be kicked out and lose their account on first offense. A zero tolerance policy is the only way to fight these scumbags.
But, of course, most of these guys have no idea how to take guidence with sanctions, since they never got used to that during their upbringing, so even if they wanted to follow the rules they're incapable of doing it. Which is good, so we can get rid of them quickly.
