Guess i'm the only person who doesn't want my character wearing over emphasized gear. I'm actually really happy with the normal looking clothing, as you fit in with the society around you. I think it would look stupid with a bunch of shiny super heroes running around.

Then again we live in a 'me me me' society.
You obviously haven't read the original post in its entirety. I also stated that I like simple armour design m as long as I have different options to play with. Wearing the same carpet for the rest of the game is just unacceptable.
The game was designed in Korea to encourage cash shop costume sales which is normal in Korean market.
However Daum being new to western market doesn't quite understand the playerbase.
This is a case of poor localization - any western publisher would have changed outfitting system with a change to B2P model. Western players expect certain systems as part of the base gameplay if you spend money up front for the game.
Again any major western publisher would have immediately flagged this as an issue - you have a gorgeous character creator, a beautiful world, and then every armor looks the same within classes and costume cash shop options are not good.
Yeah the western players are going to be pissed.
You say this as if Daum lives in a vacuum... unaware of the world outside of their borders. They knew exactly what would sell in the cash shop and they left it as-is because of it. Their cash shop is going to do quite well in the west just as it does in the east... for this very reason.
And it's not like this was a surprise to anyone... it was there during all the betas... people just didn't pay attention because they were focused on leveling... as usual.
I even mentioned that everyone was a clone of one another... it's pretty damn obvious to anyone who even bothered to look up from their XP bar.
Here I am crafting my own costumes, maybe I just have special access to the game ? Or maybe you are another one of those guys that bashes without actually knowing what the game is about. So much misinformation from stupid people, it makes me sick.
1) There is tons of armors that have amazing different appearances => mostly set pieces, I have 2 full sets collected so far. (yes, that means white items have no appearance changes, I'm sorry)
2) There is outfits that you can buy at vendors that have amazing appearances
3) There is dyes that you can make
4) There is outfits that you can craft if you own a home and install an outfittery in calpheon.
Awesome sandbox mmo with loads of potential but they need to change the cs asap.
Sandbox - yeah, BD and AA I wouldn't call sandbox games at all.
Sure there are sandboxy elements - but overall "sandbox game" - not even close.
Sandbox game - the players are given the tools to change all aspects of gameplay including CORE gameplay - as in modding minecraft to be a FPS game or a puzzle game or whatever you want.
THAT is a sandbox game, you can change everything - because you are given the tools to do so.
That's the key part of what makes somethign a sandbox game - are players given the tools to change the gameplay.
Playing pre-set classes in an open world with lots of crafting options is not a sandbox game - you're still heavily limited in only doing what the game was designed for you to do, you are not given any of the tools to change the core gameplay.
Again my 2c - MMOs can never be true sandboxes
Well I see what you're saying but what mmo allows you to change the core gameplay? That's not really a sandbox imo it's just modding what youre talking about, like bethesda style.
Thats harder to do with thousands even millions playing a game online.
To me there are diff types of Sandbox, you have Bethesda/Minecraft style where yea you can change how the game works as in core mechanics and you have mmo sandbox, ultima, swg, archeage now BDO where you can do many different things and you have endless ways to achieve your goals.
You don't say Halo and Megaman are the same thing but they both are at the core shooters. one is side scroll platform shooting the other is FPS.
The sandbox part is having lots of sand to play with, what that sand is depends on if its mmo or not imo. I've never once heard somebody call ultima a great sandbox because you turn it into a racing game.

That's reassuring to know, wounder if the OP knew about this

Nah dude you can coat that all you want the reason you are not playing anymore is simply because you are a Neo MMO Diva and want the shinny fluffy crap. When exactly did MMO gamers become so warped in the head to want all that type of stuff to a game? Hell I would have more respect if you didn't like how intense the crafting, quest, or some other mechanics where however this is just something I sit back and laugh at.
And no Mcrippins you are no alone. I play MMOs for the simple fact that I like MMOs this game would have turned me off if I seen some shinny crap players running around all day. That type of stuff makes my head hurt.
What so just to confirm, you can't change the way your characters gear looks without buying different items? Even if you're equipping loot that dropped in game?
Exactly.
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY WRONG !!!! The haters here are spreading false info just to discourage others from playing. Gear you pick up does change the way you look , just not dramatically. Now with helms this may be true, but all other gear does change as you progress, its just underwhelming. My warrior started off dressed like a peasant, now hes slowly gaining more pieces that is turning his gear into metal armor.
tHE CASH SHOP COSTUMES LOOK REALLY KOOL AND MAKE THE IN-GAME GEAR LOOK CRAPPY, BUT WHAT THE ABOVE GUY POSTED IS FALSE.

Ahh you can dye and also craft your own costumes. LOL so basically OP quit over nothing.

Lets give the OP and others in the thread the benefit of the doubt and assume they have never looked at the different options when buying houses.
Yet another reason why I am glad I did not buy black desert. Combat is fun ( less so than B&S imo ) , graphics look insane and it has a free open world which gives quite some freedom. Yeah on paper that sounds good. Till you look at the things lacking and realize there is no proper endgame, they have lame publishers that mess over the playerbase concerning cash shop prices after already having to buy the game to play in the first place.
This game will lose A LOT of population in the upcoming months, which is basically the usual with new mmo's but people are acting like Black Desert is a near perfect game which it clearly isn't.

If you can you should post some pictures of the in game "looks" so that those not in the know can see them.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
So whose fault is that. You buy a game and don't even bother to check anything . Just go off like a rocket and in a tizzy without even getting all your facts right. So it was all nothing he could have gotten costumes and colour changes.
This is really an attempt to discredit a game on ignorance. The point is the OP is completely wrong about what he is saying as evidenced here by others pointing out what they can do.They have collected costumes and dyed their armour.
Really disappointed in the way people treat some games. They never even bother to give it a chance just look for anything to get mad about and quit.

Must be level 8 people complaining lol.
1. regular gear without costumes does change in looks... armor and weapons both. 2. It can also all be dyed.
Some of the changes are subtle and it would have more variety if it was a western MMO without a cash shop, but saying the looks don't change is just plain wrong.

tet666 said: They are complaining because cosmetic items are ONLY in the cash shop and no where else which is a first. There is nothing to defend here they could have a healthy armor selection in game and still sell cash shop cosmetics there is only one reason to do this: Greed.
I agree.
They expect to pay 30 bucks and that they will get everything for that money without ever spending a dime for anything else they would ever want...indeed greedy spoiled bastards and their self-entitlement attitude.

I for one am thrilled that a company is ONLY featuring cosmetic and convenience items in their cash shop. This is the ideal way to fund a game.
It is possible to craft clothing for those that want a free solution.
On a related subject I would love to go back to merely paying $15 a month to access a complete MMO. But people complained and now we have an era of 'free to play' and 'buy to play' where people like me end up spending way more than $15 per month and end up having to listen to the free players that I support complain on forums.
Obviously you can't please everybody no matter what type of monetization is present. I think BDO's model is one of the best I've seen in a long time. Our medium sized guild's members are thrilled and we're planning on sticking with this title for quite a while.

So can't you buy them from NPCs or the Auction House ?
Yes to both. Matter of fact one of the best weapons you can get (and it also looks different lol) early on, Yuria weapons, come from one specific NPC in Calpheon and you have to get him to like you enough (through the amity mini-game) to sell it to you.
It's actually quite nice for a change to have NPC vendors selling useful and desirable items.
