Bioware were really good before EA took them over.

I loved SSI, Sir-Tech, Psygnosis etc.

Barbarian, Jagged Alliance, Wizardry, Roadwar 2000, Kampfgruffe etc. etc. etc.

But for variety of different styles of gaming and simulations and the quality of those products for their day, I'm going with Microprose.

    I loved all their shit.

This Clearly needs to be in poll format

    Interplay :P

Sir-Tech and Interplay are what started the genre, then SSI with all the D&D's and New World Computing with Might and Magic series

Just going to point out here.

"What is the Best Gaming Company of All Time? Is it Blizzard?"

By taking on the "Is it Blizzard" bit, you make a presumption of the answer that biases all people coming into the conversation. This is a well known effect that has to be taken into consideration when performing surveys and other question based activities.

    Anyways, that's my trivia.

    1 Square Enix
    2 Epic games

At one time i would have SOE slated at number 3 but that is long gone ,maybe 233 now.

Where would i put Blizzard? There are actually a lot of criteria, example the amount of money they make versus what kind of product they produce and it is because of that alone i rate Blizzard VERY low.Other low budget devs have already proven they can match or better Blizzard products for a portion of the budget.

Yet Blizzard continues to make all the money,it says there is a shallow reason as to WHY,>>>fanbois popularity.People are buying their games on a whim, just because they figure everyone else is and will be popular.
You know who drives gaming?Streamers, you know what games streamers target, games they figure will have a large audience to make bigger money.
So it all depends if you are talking profits or game quality versus budget.Blizzard has way too much overhead to be producing second rate games.

My knife started it all I guess. Plus they were tiny and every game they made was good.

Sierra would probably be my number two.

Kind of shocked Bethesda hasnt gotten a single shout out either. They have been around forever, but with the murkiness of what is Bethesda these days that might confuse people.

But Elder Scrolls and Fall out alone make them a top company.

Also I am sure the Canadians will remember Wayne Gretzy hockey. If youre over 40 anyway.

Forget Blizzard they don't know the difference between convenience and nerfing.

Loved Wayne Gretzky Hockey #1, #2 sucked.

I think the first game I played from Bethesda was "The Terminator" which was a free roaming open world map of LA with wire frame graphics in which you ran around as the Terminator trying to find Sarah Connor.  You could hotwire vehicles shoot and run over pedestrians etc. etc. Generally just run around causing havoc not unlike GTA lol

Looking back you can see the beginnings of their open world style of game.

From the early days? SSI, Microprose, Origin, Bethesda, Bioware. Now, CDProjekt Red.

Blizzard used to be a great company back in the day (early starcraft, warcraft, diablo), before WoW came out. Ever since then, they've only put out either mediocre games or even worse. They are selling purely on the huge marketing budget and the reputation of Blizzard.

Bethesda might have been a good contender if Skyrim and Fallout 4 wouldn't be such letdowns. I really expected way better. They have been going downhill for quite some time, at least they are not as greedy bastards as Blizzard, so that's a huge plus.

CD Projekt RED is really by far the best gaming company today. They've released 3 excellent RPG games. It's about time they got some publicity. These guys really do care about their playerbase and it shows.

The only other worth mentioning is probably Rockstar. GTA games are basically multiple games put into one. They always amaze me how fast they are improving the series, and adding new things to do. Definitively the most consistent gaming company of all time, I really can't remember if they've ever done a bad game, hell not even a mediocre one.

Its pretty hard to look at this list and put any other game co. ahead of EA , possibly Nintendo ...which btw are 1 and 2 in total Metric score ..1. Nintendo 2 EA..

But this list is very impressive body of work ..

Needs a criteria. Gaming is too generalized. If you mean company that produces the best single player experience, even then it would have to be broken down by genre, but in single player experience I would say Square-Enix since I enjoyed most of the games they put out....well until recent years, but some were still pretty good. MMO wise? Probably SE again because I invested almost 7 years in and honestly kept subbed for almost 7 years without many regrets. Their customer service is pretty bad though and hasn't changed from my experience over that time (since I play 14 off and on, still bad cs from my experience). But after playing WoW off and on for 5 years, I'd say Blizzard has treated me fairly in comparison to other companies. Free 1-2 weeks of game time for the WoD disaster was better than the silence that SE gave the 2 weeks of mess after Heavensward official release. WoW is still shallow as an actual game imo but the stories keep me interested more so than other games (FF14 would if it wasn't 75% text).

Obsidian & Bethesda are pretty much my go to teams.. Although I do have a soft spot for Larian now as well.

I would agree on EA if you just mean quantity but not quality. Man the number of great studio's they gobbled up and destroyed...I would never put them on a list for greatest developer just because on balance they have removed from too much talent and creativity to leave them in the positive.

Nintendo, without a doubt. Can't think of a company that has kept being relevant over such a long time and been such a huge influence to so many gamers.
