I'd really enjoy SQ42 once they get it out the door.

All Ea/Alpha/beta participations should come with a universal clause in the TOS "Participating in development does not make you a developer, now stfu and wait for the finished product as we wish it to be"

It's so cute seing armchair developers thinking they know better than industry veterans with multiple released success games. And being angry because people trust those same dev's more than their "opinions".

"But but but I work in IT, I know these things, software development is all the same"

Oh please the rofls are unberable by now =)

It's also cute seeing people pass opinion off as fact, like saying that Star Citizen has the biggest space game fan base ever, has taken the most money, etc...

Anyhow, I think that's unavoidable, how many times have devs said stuff ie "We're going to have this in out game, we're going to have that in our game, it'll be the most engaging combat ever, the most free form skill trees ever, your choices will truly make a difference, there will be massive branching storylines, no playthrough will be the same..." and on and on and on.

If there's a reason people don't trust devs or people that speak on behalf of the studios then it's only because the industry has brought it on itself.

    All 20+ of them ? Unlikely ....

Personally i VERY MUCH enjoy this restoration of the space sim genre...

    Have fun

As much as I dislike Chris and his excesses, he certainly did put space gaming back on the map.  Unfortunately, he did it as a combo of PT Barnum and Svengali....

Yeah, that's why I developed my opinions after talking to friends and acquaintances from my local gaming groups who'd worked with Roberts at Origin.  You know, industry veterans.  Roberts is not held in high regard.  Pretty much the second most disliked person from Origin.

But feel free to dismiss it;  I mean, his name was on a box.

I judge the man by its games nothing else matters to me. It's why I am here in the first place. Yes is name was on a box, of highly successfully released games. That is all that matters ;)

    You appear intentionally  clueless.

Stan Lee's name is on all the Marvel movies as Executive Producer.  How much work do you think he did on those films?

Roberts has never released a game where he wasn't cocooned in the safety of Origin Systems.  He also carefully manicures his reputation.  That leads to zealots claiming only his grand  vision led to those games they remember fondly from when they were 10.

Not even close, I dunno who you have been talking with, but Chris was not "cocooned in the safety of Origin Systems" lol . His visionary design aproaches were seen as risky for the time because they were never tried, they were unprecedented  (Just like in Freelancer and now Star Citizen). I suggest you do some homework before telling jokes as facts ;)

Both Warren Spector and Richard Garriot have the utmost respect for Chris Roberts as they are all Game Developers with a strong sense of vision and game design awareness. And that goes to a lot of other legend Game Dev´s like Tony Zurovec.

I think the video is ironic considering how obsessive Star Citizen fans actually are. They worship Robert, they worship the game and have threatened journalists before on multiple occasions when they have released negative articles about the game and its' developement.

If you were so confident in the product, you wouldn't be obsessed about defending it. It will be interesting were  this is going, however, I do expect alot of people to be heavily disappinted in this ''second coming of Jesus'' project.

At the end of the day, if it is a good game then I am a winner. And if it fails, I can promise you, that I will enjoy the back-clash that will follow and will have a good laugh at the people who wasted thousands of dollars on the project.

In my opinion, this will end up being a half-finished indie-game that will struggle to satsify its' audience. Anyhow, time will tell.

Go to any Game thread, about any game, you will find there plenty of passionate people talking about it. Naysayers, non-constructive critics, haters, mockers, trollers, people with genuine will to see this game crash and burn lol. Those are the obsessed ones, those are the socio-path ones, the exception to the norm lol. This game already won, and there's nothing the haters can do about it except online trolling and crying before bed wishing for it to go under B)

Ironically enough, saying that they ''already won'' implies that the creators you worship are nothing but scammers and as long as they get millions of dollars in their pockets, it doesn't matter what happens next.

We can also look at it from another perspective: they ''alrady won'' because they had a successful funding campaign which is true. They succeeded at reaching the community with their ideas and thousands of people decided to support them which is apparently great. However, the more people who support them the more pressure there is on the company to deliver. You can't disappoint all these people considering the large amount of money that was funded.

The more money CIG gets, the more expecations people will have. This is how the industry works. The bigger the budget is the  better the product people expect. So depending on how CIG will deliver their product, people are either going to be happy or disappointed. So ''alrady won'' is long ways from being set in stone.

Unless you mean that the ones who will get screwed by the project's failure are the people which is sadly true. CIG already did win indeed, they already got the money and if they do fail, it means that it is the people who won't get a return on the investment, not them. They can then come up with an excuse to limit damage to their reputation and go on.

PS. Now, I personally don't think CIG are liars or anything like that. I simply don't believe they are going to deliver to the project being too ambitious to be real. Now if it becomes real, it is great and I will probably enjoy it alongside others.

I am all for new great games, however kickstarter prjects usually end up with a huge back-clash and people whining about the final product... IF, there happens to be one ofcourse.

I think you are overly obsessed with defending the company and overly agressive against people who don't agree with your opinions about CIG being the best company in the world and Roberts being the biggest genius ever.

They already won because they have the funding to stay independent. They can follow their vision through and through without compromises for the sake of a Publisher's whim. The thing that haters and cynics don't get, is that you can back and support Star Citizen and still understand that CIG, Chris Roberts are not perfect and are sometimes can be wrong, they know that that's why they adapt with their mistakes and you can see that has the game development changed with the times. With the cheer scope and magnitude of this game and how far they have come, basically from nothing deserve nothing but praise from the gaming community. Haters gona Hate because they have nothing else to hang on. The continuous success of Star Citizen gets to them in ways they never tought lol, they kick & shout with every new update, they cringe as more millions and new backers sign in. It's one of the most satisfying things from following this game progress, is how the haters and naysayers keep eating their words and twisting their narratives to fill that fud campaign.

Delicious! What a time to be gamer!
