Now my prediction is based upon the current builds that CIG appears to be spreading. If they show up at citizencon without even 1 solar system in the PU or a single SQ42 mission then thats their fault for misrepresenting themselves.

They have already said that they will not show much at Gamescon, it's not their fault it will be your own expectations fault as they already claimed otherwise.
Gamescon is confirmed for PG and possibility Star Marine. With citizencon just 1 month later they will only show some of it at GC.

Oops I'm getting them mixed up. I meant citizencon.
With the PU getting more fleshed out, they might and they already confirmed this being the plan to integrate the UEC (game currency) you buy with real cash, on the actual playable universe. That would bring a layer of revenue that is not from the Crowdfund, the only thing they have to do after is what usually alpha/beta games do when provide the ability to buy currency, refunding it every wipe.
Erin Roberts was asked once what he would do once SQ42 released, the answer wasn't what i expected, SQ42 releases and they get the money, yet they'll start working right away on a new SQ42 game instead, this before SC is released. If that's still the case then the sales of SQ42 will be driven to fund the SQ42's sequel instead of SC.

I'm not going to argue about things that Erin Roberts "once said".
But I'm quite sure that nothing is written in stone. Plans can and will in all likelihood change. If the launch of SQ42 generates additional revenue and the SC project needs funds at that time, I'm sure the money will be used where needed.

Yeah he said that on the end of last year if i'm not mistaken. But with SQ42 still awaiting one release the development plan if Foundry 42 UK will work on the sequel or move to SC may just change depending of the reality then.
But overall i never imagined they wanted to start on the sequel before SC was even released. After they release SQ42 they have no further liability to deliver the sequels before SC's launch.
SQ42 afaik isn't even in testing phase alpha, it's probably still being developed, mixed development with SC, AC, SM. I hope it's not just one mission just to get it out there.
I don't think ship sales will ever stop. Even after SC launches probably in 2020, they will still be developing new ships and new weapons for in game purchase, and since you can buy in game currency which won't stop either you can still buy ships and weapons with gift cards and ingame cash.
I find it strange that with all the videos, newsletters, articles, and such which are constantly being produced that players must still speculate on basic stuff.

On the ones you just mention i don't see speculation being necessary.
1st, the SQ42 stage is certainly deep in development, even though the QA team already reported being testing the missions they have clarified this doesn't meant they are finished, they are just doing their job, it just means they exist to be able to be tested.
On a note, SQ42 is no longer that original plan of releasing like 5 chapters of X missions each until the episode was complete.
2nd, the ship sales matter was also clarified, after launch SC will still be sold as a Ship Package, aka to buy the game you buy a ship, what they're doing to do is expand the current Mustang / Aurora packages with more choices.
3rd, the design of the in-game currency for cash was clarified on the early days and it remains, even if X ship is not sold by real cash, eventually putting money on the game buying UEC will get you to buy it in-game. So that will just be it either case.
I was thinking of closed alpha then beta testing for S42 rather than in house testing which goes on all the time. I also think everything is in 'deep development' which means they're working on it. As opposed to dates which they don't give out anymore.

I think there has been mentions of Squadron 42 testing by outsiders, nothing to do with the "evocati" PTU testers but a separate one, however all of this with the NDA contracts and so on we won't hear about it.
When i mean "deep in development" is something that is still raw, deep into development where the final product is not yet visible on its whole.
O.o, well i am basing myself on a discussion time ago where they discussed this specific matter, it was pretty clear about that the starter packages are planned exist through the final game, with more options to them. Unless i missed something more recent about it.

I'm not saying anymore, last time Erillion and a couple of his buddies got really angry.

Erillion will not be happy to see you say that.
I (and MaxBacon) know that a third starter ship (besides Mustang and Aurora) has been discussed for a long time now. It was also once an option for an additional stretch goal. The backers have chosen one of the other options (and CIG has chosen the Dragonfly from that list in addition to the player choice).
rpmcmurphy most likely refers to the BarCitizen quote from Chris Roberts, where CR accidently named the Single Seat Fighter starter ship "Hornet" instead of "Mustang". And the usual suspects converted that into the outrageous claim "CIG will sell ALL ships for real world money after launch- P2W P2W .... Aaaiyyyiiii ... The Sky is Falling!!".

I know about the Hornet one, however it was still said there would be an expansion of the Starter Packages we could buy the game with after it releases. If i recall correctly the objective is let the players start the game on ships dedicated to "T1/T2" activities as cargo, dog-fighting, racing, not sure if mining, etc...
Someone should send them an email to change this by the way if they aren't releasing in 2016. It only feeds into conspiracy theories about them making false promises to strip customers of their money:
When a company has missed every delivery date they have ever given, it is not called a conspiracy theory, it is called poor management.
Which is not relevant here. They've made lots of delivery dates and they've missed a lot of delivery dates.
The difference is that they're in open development, which means that every single milestone ETA is public.
It's extremely normal to have an ambitious game be delayed. I'd go so far as to claim it happens in the VAST majority of cases where true ambition is concerned.
If you really think ambitious games don't have internal milestones that have been delayed - that's your business. But I'd say it's 100% par for the course.
And here we go. Despite there being no evidence to the contrary or any correction offered in relation to Roberts' comment, Erillion still wants to claim that Roberts misspoke because he was under the influence.
Not only that but he wants to embellish the mention of one hornet package to now be all ships because it makes the other half of the argument sound outlandish, yet he knows as well as me that I have never talked about all ships. The only thing I have said about the matter is that it is indication of them selling ships (as part of a package) post launch.
TBH, if they don't release SQ42 in 2016, oh boy, they'll be in big trouble.
Are you joking? What trouble would that be?
How about games like Witcher 3, No Man's Sky, Deus Ex: MD, and countless other recent releases? They all had long delays. They don't exactly seem destined for a troublesome future.
An ETA - whether official or not - is not some kind of set-in-stone promise given to God.
It's just an ETA - nothing more. They're not even subject to a publisher.
I hope you don't think pledging for a crowd-funded game means there's some kind of guarentee in terms of release date? Because that's not the case.

Maybe they need the money They are spending it faster than they concept ships
Maybe they don't need the money.
I'm not aware of any source detailing their financial situation with any validity.
Which also includes how much they have actually truthfully made.
I dont belive their numbers one bit. Mostly because they seem imposible tomaintain especially considering all the factors as in the disaster this game has been over the past 4 years with absolutely ZERO positive apsects of any game looking to be released in a playable form. the ONLY positive thing they can say about themselves IS that money 'raised' figure. Which is dubious at best.
How can a game with almost zero presence anywhere be taking in the daily numbers their spread sheet quotes? I dont believe even WoW which does still have a lot of players and still charges a sub makes that much money a day. So where is this money coming from?
They cannot be selling that many ships, its impossible. The math has been done out. I can believe a SMALL increase during special sales or a new ship comes out, but with nothing new and everyone in a holding pattern how can they claim making 20-50K a day?
Thats not saying they havent made alot of money and sold a lot of ships but I dont think it is anywhere near what they claim, and I also think any refunds and chargebacks they have had to incur has affected them more than they let on and what most people (even the critics) think.
But it inst out of the realm of possibility that theyre close to broke. When Roberts dropped the MVP bomb in the first place it made that very apparent. And that was a few months ago now, so theyre more than likely running on fumes. Also why the focus shifted to getting SOMETHING out the door they could sell and make money on. A complete 180 from the defiant 'it will be released when its ready' crap they spewed for 4 years or more.
I have said it before there are so many lies, misremembers, cover ups, and claims of ignorance in this projest its hard to get anything straight. Thats why there is so much speculation. There are so many leaks and problems you can pick just one, so you basically shot gum worst case scenarios and you probably have more correct assumptions than you do incorrect ones.
