Back in 2014, I took a flight on a commercial airline that lasted a few hours. I flew in the air ... like a bird, somebody in 18 century might have said. When I landed I checked facebook on my cell phone. During that journey, I probably did a dozen different things that people in 1776 would have claimed were impossible.
Something is impossible ... until it isn't.
Sure, maybe CoE fails, but maybe it doesn't. If everyone gave up when somebody said they were going to fail, you wouldn't be able to post your asinine comments on this forum because the internet wouldn't exist.
I never said so and so was impossible, I said that the mindset where everyone should be praised solely because said person believes he's a pioneer of something without reasonable analytics is something that justifies the "participation award" mindset.
Btw, I'm glad you flew a plane for the first time, thank you for sharing your experience. I will make sure I defer back to this post whenever I comment about what's feasible in a MMO

When the layoffs were announced they could have diverted things like the Elyria Assistance Program to raise money for the developers that were laid off and their families. That would have shown a great community. Did that happen? No... instead we got nitwits saying things like maybe they were laid off because they were late to work too many times. But let’s focus on raising more money for the GAME and forget those guys ever existed.
That kind of diversion from reality and insane priorities is what people see. It’s why I never report people for their posts (even when they go off the deep-end like our friend Sedryn). The worst thing for the community is to let the angry mob go out any try to shut down critics. Your CEO did that and there was a whole arictle on MassivelyOP about it.

Also- Common sense (which seems not to be so common) also says that contracts work 2 ways. The Kickstarter had an estimated delivery date. Missing that date by 2+ years is not reasonable. They also said that SpatialOS was the fabric they were building the game on. They now pulled that. So yeah, a TOS does not just give a company the right to change product specs, content, delivery at whim with no repercussions.
That's a damn good point, they put a date and need to meet that date.
But, they also I am sure they explained what they were to provide by that date. This counts as their legal obligation to you.
Case in point, with CoE, I have heard some conflicting terms, I don't really know, but, I have heard that their KS Date was not the Release date of a completed game, but the date by which they would have some kind of mock-up made to present to a high end backer, to be able to eventually make the game a reality sometime in the future.
Now, I'll admit, I don't know what the Kickstarter project said, and I don't care either, not my money in this case, But, if it was.. you're damn right I would know exactly what I was buying and have read every line of the advertisement and contract, and not be wallowing around on a forum, wondering what TF I actually paid for. (just making that clear)
So with that said, maybe they already met their obligations to the KS promise they made, maybe they haven't. if it was a mock-up then it was done, they have a working system they are using to get a real backer, done deal. I don't know what they promised you, but I am sure they know exactly what they promised you, and given your floundering.. I am gonna bet.. you don't.

If you cannot decode what I am saying, then allow me to educate you. There's no twisting of words, I am merely regurgitating the proposed argument to show how ludicrous it sounds.
Tyros's argued that:
A ) Progenitors or Originators (self-acclaimed or not) of something should be praised
B ) The sub-forum and it's critics give input that amounts to nothing more than a fart
C ) The consideration of how fast technology progresses year-to-year (as was illustrated by his plan anecdote)
Here is my response, in very simple wording (to me at least) so that you may understand what is being conveyed, whether it be explicitly said or not.
A ) Because someone claims to be a pioneer, does not give them an automatic seal of approval, because if such was the case, everyone would be going around getting credit for shit they have not done yet
B ) Everything presented on the sub-forum usually has some sort of FACT or quotation behind it. There are also people of expertise that come on and try to evaluate the project. Because someone of expertise does not give it a positive prospect does not mean they are "circle-jerking". Asking normal common sense questions and having skepticism especially after CoE's past, present, and future blunders is not "circle-jerking".
C ) So because planes can fly now, I guess it's up to the consumer to believe anything and everything can be done. There is no reason to believe that failure is an outcome in any decision. Wrong, simply marveling how fast technology has evolved over hundreds of years does not give your argument weight when the current problems need to be solved in a year or two.
D ) I hope this has been an educational read for you and the other three

I've already had an impact on several things. One of the more significant was the change to the way days/weeks/seasons in game related to real time.

In a way, your analogy makes a good point, just not the one you were hoping for.
In 1776 if some one said commercial airline flight were impossible, they would not have been wrong, as the supporting technology to make it possible did not yet exist.
Same thing here, Caspian has promised to deliver what many believe to be impossible with the technology he has available today.
His one key tool, SpatialIOS that was to make it all possible was discarded with no real replacement solution, well outside of the claim the "magic" will all be done in house, which many of us don't believe.

A ) Progenitors or Originators (self-acclaimed or not) of something should be praised
B ) The sub-forum and it's critics give input that amounts to nothing more than a fart
C ) The consideration of how fast technology progresses year-to-year (as was illustrated by his plan anecdote)

Here is my response, in very simple wording (to me at least) so that you may understand what is being conveyed, whether it be explicitly said or not.
A ) Because someone claims to be a pioneer, does not give them an automatic seal of approval, because if such was the case, everyone would be going around getting credit for shit they have not done yet
B ) Everything presented on the sub-forum usually has some sort of FACT or quotation behind it. There are also people of expertise that come on and try to evaluate the project. Because someone of expertise does not give it a positive prospect does not mean they are "circle-jerking". Asking normal common sense questions and having skepticism especially after CoE's past, present, and future blunders is not "circle-jerking".
C ) So because planes can fly now, I guess it's up to the consumer to believe anything and everything can be done. There is no reason to believe that failure is an outcome in any decision. Wrong, simply marveling how fast technology has evolved over hundreds of years does not give your argument weight when the current problems need to be solved in a year or two.
D ) I hope this has been an educational read for you and the other three
Where does your buthurt come from.. I imagine it has something to do with members of this "Ivory Tower" you speak of, whoever the hell they are. But that does not explain why you shouldn't just walk away from it, why do you keep going at it, what do you hope to gain.
I at least hoped to inform people of the dangers of going against contracts you signed and agreed to. That was my goal , but what is yours?
If you don't think you will impact the end result, and haven't given him a cent, by your own words, why not just walk away and enjoy some other game?

In 1776 if some one said commercial airline flight were impossible, they would not have been wrong, as the supporting technology to make it possible did not yet exist.
Same thing here, Caspian has promised to deliver what many believe to be impossible with the technology he has available today.
His one key tool, SpatialIOS that was to make it all possible was discarded with no real replacement solution, well outside of the claim the "magic" will all be done in house, which many of us don't believe.
