Maybe he accidently put himself on ignore
I wouldn't be able to help but do the same if i was half as insufferable as him. I mean really saying it's "doomed to fail" just what reality is he living in.
Even if Blizzard checked every "wrong move" checkbox they could, the game still wouldn't fail and would still rake in millions for them. The fact that they're hitting so many right ones(pvp changes, no more tier sets, ap affecting all 3 specs and not having to funnel into only 1 spec) means this is going to be an amazing expansion.
The way they can destroy the whole feel of how a class plays, is the reason why I quit after Legion came out. You could be stuck with this character which you loved to play, but after those rigorous changes, it is possible that you now hate it. I was sick of this, because I invested heavily into those characters and I simply did not wanted to create a new main (and level again arghh).
I can't think of any other MMORPG that overhauls the complete feel of classes with almost every expansion pack. For many players the feel of the class is the reason why they chose it. I know that there are players that chose a class based on how good it is in Raids or PVP meta, but many don't.
But I guess they see this also as 'content'. Giving people the motivation to try a new class. Too bad they use a pointed stick for this.
If you don't want to experience changes to a class, my suggestion is to not play online games.
Overwatch. League of Legends. WoW. FFXIV. GW2. ESO. Doesn't matter what game you list, you'll find complaints about class/character changes that drastically changed how they're played and people crying foul.
Don't play online games if you want things to stay the same.
What? Darnassus and Undercity are like universally the shittiest(and underpopulated) places for the alliance and horde respectively.
Would be massive backlash if they messed with Stormwind/Orgrimmar, not to mention wouldn't make much sense. If Stormwind/Orgrimmar falls, the alliance/horde falls.
Why do they have to wreck the cool places? Why not Stormwind? In its place we could build a gnome-goblin city and subjugate the stinky human thralls. It would be a third faction with one ring to rule them ALL!
Okay, that's a bit much, but why wreck the cool places. There's tons of sucky places they could mess around.
I'm actually kind of excited to see Lordaeron, but I agree, a coalition of the vertically challenged would combine two of my favorite Warcraft races!

They probably pressed the back button and didn't see the comment they posted earlier whereas a simple refresh would have fixed that.
But that may be giving them too much credit and they simply forgot to take their meds

Canonically, Orgrimmar is a destroyed city after the Alliance "saved" us after Garrosh's reign. Stormwind is going to get toasted by Horde when they come to rescue Talanji (Zandalari Princess) and, like, the whole city goes up in flames. HOWEVER, it's instanced, so we won't ever see it similar to the way we don't see the damage to Orgrimmar.
Darnassus will be the new central location for charcoal production and Undercity will be blighted for centuries. No instances in either one of those, though there is the time travel aspect through Zidormi, a Bronze dragon. They've done this before in Blasted Lands and in Theramore.
Let's not forget that Exodar and Silvermoon are off in the Twisting Nether of TBC and still not updated to, you know, bring them actually into the world with new graphics and so forth. Exodar is a crashed spaceship and Silvermoon is still trashed from Arthas's invasion.
And for all the Gnomes out there: NEVER FORGET GNOMEREGAN!
For the Trolls: Those Echo Isles...yeah...we forgot about them too.
Warmode...I hope it is everything everyone seems to think it's going to be. I just can't move past the fact that if PVP was so fun, why doesn't everyone do it? Why does it need to be incentivized with extra rewards for people to participate? If you put sprinkles on a turd, it's still a turd underneath...
They don't offer extra rewards to participate. The only thing PvP mode gets is a small XP boost to offset the fact that when you're PvP flagged, your questing and open world activities are interrupted a lot, which slows down the leveling process. In order to make sure PvP mode players aren't leveling a lot slower than PvE mode players, they get a small boost. I can tell you've never really played a game with OwPvP for a long period of time lol.

I have played GW2 and ESO and a ridiculous amount of other MMORPG's. And their changes are not even close to how WoW does it. This also goes for how WoW makes complete regions and their content (and often features) obsolete most of the time. Even now with their lvl scaling (way too late imo). ESO and GW2 don't do that.
To me WoW class overhauls are almost on the level of Star Wars Galaxies NGE. Just not once, but almost every expansion pack. Most of the other MMORPG's just balance or introduce an additional mechanic. Instead of scrapping and starting over or ridiculously over simplifying it.
I can't think of any other MMORPG where the developers use this scorched earth development style on classes and features so often.

I couldn't tell if you were saying "They don't offer extra rewards to participate" regarding Legion's pvp system or the war mode changes that are coming today. So if you meant the former, than take this post as me agreeing with you and backing you up with facts for why war mode changes are sorely needed, and if it was the latter, then this is why i think you're wrong.
These are the benefits war you get with war mode.
What are the Bonuses of War Mode?
Access to all PvP talents in the outdoor world, regardless of being engaged in PvP combat or not.
+10% experience boost while leveling.
+10% World Quest reward bonuses at max level.
Ability to earn Conquest Points, which count towards a weekly progress bar for special gear rewards.
Completion of PvP achievements.
Even if you ignored the 10% exp boost, the 10% world quest reward bonus alone makes enabling war mode worth it. That's 10% more gold, 10% more oh resources/nethershards/etc, 10% more materials.
Yea, reading that i just realized how crazy war mode is going to be. I didn't realize we got pvp talents just for having war mode on regardless if we were in pvp combat or not. That right there is yet another astoundingly huge bonus by itself.
Damn, blizzard's servers are gonna be stressed hard with the amount of people going war mode.
might not be worth the extra incentives unless you really enjoy pvp. since you'll most likely spend a lot of time in graveyards if you're only looking to get some extra rewards.
We have already brought the Authentication server to its knees, not giving me a warm fuzzy for expansion release day if they can't launch pre expansion patch without having server issues.. You would think as many times as Blizzard has had this issue they would get it figured out..
I had no problem logging in right away. I guess I didn't read enough about the patch because I was expecting some kind of quest to pop when I logged in. Instead, I just got my add-ons broken, my talents and abilities switched around, and all my numbers reduced to TBC levels. Oh well, it does seem a bit different, but looks like another month to wait before any plot.
RE: War Mode, I read that toggling it puts you into a phased shard with only other War Mode players, essentially being a PvP server without the need for Blizzard to actually own additional servers. Is that true? I guess I could toggle and get slaughtered a bit to find out, since I did almost no PvP for all of Legion.

The problem with the "worth it" argument or "more" rewards is the risk factor, not to mention you'll ultimately reach the same point, just "10% faster" which for nit-pickers, that matters, but for the average person it doesn't. People really should only trigger war mode because they want to kill people, rewards should come second. However, you'll get the vocal minority coming to forums raging about "faster stuff" just because its an option, not because its practical. Nevermind the rage pvp'ers originally had to feel a few expansions ago when pvp gear was done away with and a raider could clear out the most seasoned pvpers simply because they had better gear. I know I seemed stupid to some for thinking that raiders should get the best gear for pve while the most hardcore pvpers should get the best gear for pvp, not raiders get both and pvpers get the same power creep or inferior to something that runs heroics, but I guess my logic was that I dont want to be a hardcore rogue raider if I only like playing rogue in pvp. Now gear "doesn't matter" anymore and pvp is "scaled" with this patch so everyone is "equal" to a point in open world.

Your gear still matters, they're just dialing it back to be within reason and it's an absolutely good change. Pvp should be more about skill than gear. Also, it's just shit design to have a pvp stat on pvp gear like pvp power because no matter how good you are, if you don't have enough of that stat you're worthless and have to sludge through a bunch of shit matchups until you get enough of it to do good, that isn't fun.
In Blizzard's own words "In order to create a fair fights and good gameplay, our goal is to limit
the extremes in power between players in War Mode that come from gear
and level. We want you to have an advantage if your gear is better, but
within reason."
War Mode makes WoW the best MMO for PvP now. The phasing and cross-server tech paired with the ridiculous amount of people playing means it's always populated. You can level a new toon all the way with it on for thrilling gameplay and awesome rewards. Tons of people who wouldn't normally PvP are diving into it because it's so accessible and they are really enjoying it.
Easily the best thing WoW has done in a long time. Other MMOs are going to be cloning WoW, again.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
I've been subbed for a while now, but haven't been playing. It's always there waiting for me... 7/17 sounds like a good day to dive back in before BfA.
Try demonology warlock, survival hunter, arms/fury, disc priest. All are beautiful to play right now.
My BM hunter is 110, and despite the folks telling me they're not in a good place, I still loved playing him through Legion.
"Not in a good place" is all the perception that top end guilds give out. Honestly, if you enjoy a class then play it. I cannot stand all the people talking crap about classes that they do not play, because some stat screen they read from the top .1% of raiding guilds numbers.
Even PvP, people try saying such and such class is horrible. It might be true in some 1v1 fights, but every class has its place, and it is a matter of figuring out how to discover and use that to your advantage.
Just my 2 gold
this is kinda my logic in most games, games are supposed to be about having fun. play whats fun for you to hell with the meta!
That is how I have always played in any game. I have been in wow since TBC launched and the number of raids I have been invited to, I could count on one hand. This being because I play what I like and won't meta.
I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.
