Nooby Isles are instanced. If you're ever there you can go to the dock and one of the bells will let you switch between the isles. Helps when you need a group to take out the Orc Leader or for hunting the Chieftan.
I had the game already. I'm currently playing an Erudite Mage(lvl 8) in Freeport. Been toying with the idea of going with Necromancer, but I got a bit to go before I decide. So far the game has mostly been the same in terms of graphics, though I have seen a couple robes that looked pretty slick. Reminded me of the robe from Najena in EQ, forget the name though. It was Black, with red trim, worn by an npc. Maybe Anarchy, or one of the others could name it.
Seems like they added more sounds since last I played(Julyish). Some of the voiceovers stood out, and sounded better than I remember. Also, I actually noticed some of the ambient sounds, and music. The Graveyard in Freeport had some really nice music.
So far the gameplay doesn't seem too much different, aside from not being able to solo some of the 'named' mobs on the Isle. Though myself and two other mages did the final orc quest, and did just fine. Not sure if the Orc is a Heroic mob, or not, as I wasn't paying enough attn.
I noticed a few things that were different from the last time I played(I think). Namely the faction tab on the personal info window. It listed Qeynos as scowling. Just curious if the guards will kill you now, or do they still just port you outside the city like they did in beta?
I did have one very minor annoyance, which was my suffix title. I unlocked Slayer of Goblins, but for some reason it doesn't let me use it. Just has some format codes in the scroll down window that lists your prefixes/suffixes.
And in case anyone was wondering, I do not have the expansion yet, So I can't comment on DoF specific stuff. I have engaged in a couple of duels, which aren't very exciting at level 6, but seem to have promise. I won all three duels for what it's worth.
Anyways, that's about as far as I've gotten. Gonna get back on, and try and hit 10 for my class quest before I hit the hay. Any specific questions can be posted here, or directed to my attorney, Dr. Gonzo.

Oh, I know. Didn't think to check if there was more than one instance up, but it seemed there were less people in the Isle instance with me than when I played before. I haven't hit one of the instance select screens when zoning yet, but it is 9PM, so I'm sure the pop has dropped off a bit. I'll probably roll up another nooblet tommorow to see how the Isle is around 7PM CST.
LOL i guess i choose the wrong thread and posted this elsewhere, but you do know that those numbers are adjustable and your seeing the people who got bored at 50 back to get 60 right? The serve pop screen is not proof

They are the server populations, nothing more, nothing less. It is proof that they are what they are. Were you drunk when you posted that?

This is a common misconception. The guards do actually kill you (if you are from Qeynos the Freeport guards even say: Death to enemies of the Overlord). You respwan outside the city. Since you have no chance to fight (automatically dead) you don't suffer the death penalty.
Did you read it? Medium load could be indicated by 1-50,000 users. The guys behind it decide what that number is, clearer for you now or were you drunk when you posted and misread... THE NUMBER IS WHAT THEY DECIDE IT IS NOT A FIXED NUMBER PRE PROGRAMMED BY SOME OUTSIDE MONITORING GROUP. LOL

I suppose so, though I didn't really think of it as being "killed" in the usual sense as you get no xp debt, leave no spirit thingie, you just respawn aways out from the city.
Anywho, for those that care. More on(or perhaps, Moron?) my misadventures in Norrath, Crafting edition.
Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick! Talk about needlessly overcomplicated. I realize the hardcore crafting types probably messed themselves over the crafting system. But as a noncrafting person, yikes. Making anything but the simplest items is, so far, an excersise in annoyance. And since the prices for spell scrolls on the broker in AB are astronomical, I'm pretty much stuck either making my own scrolls, or praying I get lucky on a drop.
This, of course, leads me to my next gripe, the economy. I don't know about other servers, but AB is crazy. They're even selling things I can buy off a merchant for a 1 or 2 silver for 20 some silver. And that's for a simple 4 slot bag. Get up to 8 slots, and most were around a gold or more. Way out of my league. Definitely not terribly easy to get up and running as a newb. Either that, or everyone knows some secret to making money that I haven't figured out.
Other than that, everythings been pretty good so far. Haven't had to group yet, and as an 11 Sorceror, I haven't really headed out of the zones inside Freeport yet.

No shizzle sherlock, did you think the number was decided by god? The point is some people didn't believe that the server loads were on heavy and medium so I posted screenshots. I didn't misread you're post, your post was useless, that was the point.
Coldmeat when you ding 14 after doing your bind quest "The ties that bind" I think it's called, head to BlackBurrow, damn the combat revamp made that zone so fun now. Hard as heck but so challenging and fun. DPS will already have to be sparing with the aggro, mind what I say or prepare for a few shard runs. Let your tank get a good dose of aggro when fighting ^^^ heroic mobs.
What you should do anarchy, is to log in and check how many players are on in total when the server is at heavy load. Id say that would remove all doubt as we all know anything less then 3000 players isnt "heavy" in any way.

midnight my time and there were no heavy servers. all medium. however, i made a char on AB and there were 1763 people on it at medium. something else i noticed is that about half the people on were pre level 30. looks like a lot of new faces to me.

Sorry if this has been asked but Im curious, does anyone know the maximum amount of players that one server can support ? I thought it was like 10k people max or something.
No idea what the max is. I guess SOE doesnt know (or want to know) either. They said at launch that each cluster performed better then they expected. This is where the design decision of zones have its benefit. When something is over-populated its instanced.
I would guess its very hard to get started as a newb on all the servers now. The first 20 levels should be okayish as you can buy/quest/craft much of what you need. Dont know when Harclave start to pay off, but I would guess its not "great" cash from 20-40. From 40 and up Harclave pay very nice indeed.
Crafting is not for everyone. Its pretty hardcore. One advice is to get to level 10 and chose a profession. The combination scholar/fighter should be a nice one for someone that just picked up the game and plan on doing some crafting. For anyone that wont craft, I would advice a mage right now.
The last two days I've toured DoF. Sneaked around every open space there is. Sinking sands are an ok zone. Not incredible, but with a few nice views. Pillars of Flame on the other hand is incredible. Visually its stunning. Its worth the price of the game alone. I made near 40% xp (49 going to 50) from the exploring xp alone while sneaking around. And its freaking dangerous Sneaking around a corner finding yourself in the middle of 15 deep red heoric raptors with a named that break your invis is --- heartstopping I would guess you pretty much have to be 48-49-50 to sneak around that zone at all. Best zone I've seen in an mmorg so far, maybe in competition with lower scheol in Shadowlands (AO).
It's actually easy to start a new toon now. On my server AB when I checked late at night there were an equal number of players between 1-20 as there were from 40+, which was a few hundred. There were 98 some odd players between the levels of 15 and 20 which is plenty to group with.
Finding groups is easy but some people (myself included) will tend to be anti-social at times. Don't be afraid to do a /who your level range and start chatting people up. Ask them if they're in a group or would they like to come group with you. I find this type of behaviour leads to a group 100% of the time.

What ive heard and read directly contradicts your statement.
My suggestion is that you go to the official forum and read what people are saying about the lack of players and groups.

Ever heard the statement believe none of what you read and only half of what you see? My suggestion would be to try the game instead of spreading negativity. If you do and also do what I say, you will NEVER have trouble finding a group, even at 4 am.
I don't have to go read some forum as I have access to the actual game.

EVERYONE (as you imply) on the official forums are not saying bad things about it as you are implying. Show me ONE major mmorpg in the world that has a 90% or better satisfactory rating within their forums.
For the most part you do not see over 300,000 posters blasting the game. You see...many of them are too preoccupied playing the game than posting about it. Its a matter of fact.
And for goodness sake...what if EVERYONE hated the game, piirg? What's in it for you?
I have never said that "everyone" on the official forums are saying bad things about eq2. Im merely saying that there are lots of unsatisfied customers. Be it newbies whom were tricked by the chocolate covered trial of isles only to discover the mothball covered eq2, or people having difficulties finding groups due to the low server populations. These posters have merit, they have absolutely nothing to gain from bashing a game they just bought. Its what i consider the most honest posts.
People whom feel they have been robbed and vent their angers and frustrations tend to be brutally honest and no fanboy in the world can surpress that. One of their posts is worth 300,000 negative posts in my book.
Im not sure what you mean by "whats in it for you". Im not here for gain, im merely criticizing a game which in my opinion has infinite potential. Alas that potential will stay untapped as long as SOE is in charge.

But...you never played it?? Out of 293 posts you have I think over 85% of them are anti-EQ2 posts and you never played the game?
Why are you hating the game then? Isnt that a little "weird" to post more than half of your post against a game you havent played.
Playing the game for months and then trolling the boards I can somewhat see. I did the same thing with SWG over a year and a half ago (ask xplorerer), however....I played it for a year. I had a reason at the time. But if you never played this game then what you're doing is trolling pure and simple.
Its fine giving an opinion about a game you dont like but devoting 85% of your mmorpg.com life to giving negative (and sometimes outright trollish) responses to a game you havent played is sorta ....well..I really dont have a word for it.

Better late then never. Did a level check on Najena with 5 days between, and there where 19 new lvl 60s and the amount of people that leveled where evenly distributed across the level range. 3 or 4 highlevel players moved to Najena (including 2 players identified in a bot thread on Najena subforum ) and 1 moved or deleted from Najena. So there is no huge amount of people moving to or from lower populated servers to Najena (one of the servers with High population). The highest activity is from 49-53.
