I dated 3 girls or like you call them "real girls" Well with them on the shoulder I couldn't even find time to play VG, I spent alot of money (cell phone, restaurant, Inn's ect...) more then I ever could on video games and most of all that to get exactly the same thing I can pay for.

My husband and I were guilded with another couple in one of the top 2 raiding guilds in EQ2. Everyone in our guild raided regularly, 6 hours minimum a night... 7 days a week. There isn't one encounter we haven't experienced in that game, and some of them were at least server-firsts.

anyways i do agree with him on one thing... For the most part, on the average, generally (this means I'm generalizing) girls do take away alot of time from gaming for guys, like my girlfriend right now... She likes video games... but i definitely cannot spend the 8 hours online playing games like I used to cuz she will think I'm not paying attention to her.... But its an ok compromize because I love spending time with my girlfriend....

Just now stumbled upon this thread. I've always found the reaction of guys to girl gamers funny. I know a few in real-life so I'm not really phased by it. But really, it makes me sad to be male when I see some of the ways guys react

There's this one pvper in our guild who is probably the top fighter in our alliance. Maybe it's because she's enthusiastic, or maybe it's because her character incredibly loaded with isk for reasons that have never been divulged.
Now yesterday we were fighting some of our favorite local enemies and doing pretty well. I'm usually in a different squad. I was taking a lot of damage and didn't think I'd make it to the 2nd targetted Raven before blowing up so I warped out thinking the others were probably not far behind since we were outnumbered. (I know. We should really use one of our TS servers more often.)
Then the squad leader loses her battleship. (Later I learned it was for a somewhat foolish reason on her part.) At the time, I felt a bit guilty and out of principle handed over some isk commensurate with what I considered my share. I usually do this with all squad losses whenever I have the means. She balked a bit, explained that it was but a drop in the bucket for her finances, but I gave my standard RP reasoning without elaborating much.
It didn't occur to me at the time, but now I wonder if she thought I only gave it to here because she was a girl? That'd be terrible, because this pilot is exceptionally good and I consider it a privelege to fly alongside. I'd like her to respect me, but not because she's a girl. Frankly, that's never come up as a subject before, nor have I spent much time thinking on it. Unfortunately, now I'll probably be regretting it and it'll bother me. I guess I'll just have to live with it if the squad leader doesn't think too highly of me.
Sometimes I wish my dumb neanderthal male neocortex would think things through before doing them. Then again, I figure I've done pretty good. You can only go for so many software optimizations when the firmware hasn't had any notable updates in 40,000 years.
So, I don't really see the big issue here... So what if girls play games? does it really make a difference? I've played with numerous girls, some of wich I've been romantically involved with (RL) And I just fail to see the issue.

These poor male souls have attached for themselves a deluded stigma to video games ,declaring them "boy's territory", and find offense that they share their passtime with the gender they are trying to escape.
This type of behaviour goes both ways in all facets of life. There are just as many insecure women as there are men on this planet who take offense when their Pilates classes are infiltreted by men. But in video games, it's rarely (if ever) the reverse.
