Originally posted by njdevi66 I hope this is true. You guys also have to remember, i can see LA stripping the license from SOE and giving it to Bioware. Number 1, LA biggest attraction is star wars, with what SOE did, they are hurting LA's biggest seller. How many people already stated they will not buy any SOE and or LA product. By stating that they will be hurting LA's pockets b/c lets face it, star wars games is pretty much all they make over there, SOE has their other lame games, electronics and other half ass products to sell. So im gonna say i hope this rumor is true b/c its pretty much all that we have left as far as hope.
I am agree with you on that but remember we have been hearing about this since December. I do believe is true and i hope it is cuz SOE has pissed me off so much u wont believe it
As much as I want to believe this, I'll believe it when I see the Press release. This is NOT a flame on the OP, rather it's jsut I'm very cautious about having hope for anything positive when it comes to SWG and anything to do with SOE or LA.
Originally posted by admriker444 its common sense folks, why else would Bioware SPECIFICALLY want coders with pre-cu experience ??? Call them yourselves to confirm. Do it fast, I wont be suprised if they catch wind of whats going on and put a lid on it
Uhh if this rumor is really true I dont think that LA would allow SOE to come out with SWG in their Station access crap that is coming out very soon. If they pulled the license i highly doubt that they would re-sell it again. Dont think LA wants yet Some more SWG boxes with SOE on it.
"Okay, I just sent a PM to the guy who said he called HR at Bioware himself. I linked him here. See if he shows and what he can tell us.. "
I'd like for that to be true and to have info that I can confirm myself. Sorry but I hate what happened to the game.
However, the logical side of me says that any of us can go to the bioware austin jobs website.
They only phone number they give related to jobs is a fax for submissions (like art work for artist) which you need to sign some submission form.
They also state after the job descriptions that they won't discuss them on the phone. They supposedly just review the emailed applications and then contact those they feel qualify due to volume of applications.
That info is all on their website which is why I am skeptical... altho hopeful.

BioWare has not asked for SWGpre-cu coders, they already know who they are, and they dont need them. If they are doing the game, it will not be with plans to go back to a pre-cu game, it will be to something different.
Whannnnn Whannnnn dat is the sound of 20 year old babies
Rumor is true... A link to this post has been made on SOE's forums. The thread got locked down and message erased in 15 minutes. Then everybody started posting things about this and it was lockdowns, deleted threads and banning all around ! I have a 4000 minutes ban myself SOE's reaction was so quick and extreme that the rumor HAS be true.

Its not selling that well anyways, and the cards are gone. So a product recall might not be possible. SOE might have all the money from the game anyways from the fact that a lot of retailers do get video games through vendors. Plus if enough of the code stayed the same, why recall it for a repackaging. Might as well sell them and make people happy when everything does come out.

The core of the game is still based on pre-cu coding. Reagardless of which version or combination of SWG goes with, any changes must take that in mind.

Ok since you keep pushing this on and on with only a "source" to use as what you say being true. To the point of even saying its possible to contact the company that list no phone number to do so... and you can't say how as it would hurt your source.
This is my official response...
When the UO2 project was cancelled Raph Koster hired most of those people to work on SWG. He didn't have to "look" for people that worked on the project .. He knew who they were and called them to offer them jobs.
BioWare Austin has two big names as noted in the official press release.
Those are Gordon Walton (tyrant) and Rich Vogel.
In order to have Pre-CU code experience you would have had to have worked on the game.
You know what?
Amazingly since Rich and Gordon both worked on the game... They would have a list of people they would want to hire. Whom they could contact directly if this was the case.
They would not have to list generic job opening at:
and hope that right people applied... There is no listed phone number on the site they in fact say they won't respond to ANY voice calls on the job.
The one phone number listed is a fax for artist submissions...
So I still say BS on that whole thing.
We do also know that BioWare has been commited to its own Properties to have control. They have already had a bad experience with LAE (which is part of they they didn't do Kotor 2).
There is a difference between a source having information on something that may or may not happen (like the nge). And say someone having a source that every part of anything we do know says... BS.
Including BioWares limited responses on their own forum to this same subject.

yes i wqs the one that link this post to SWG forum and got ban for 24 hr lol but it feel so gooddddddd
It would seem like it is close to being a true rumor, there is discussion about Bioware working on an MMO with Lucas Arts in Calgary, and talk as to weather or not becasue of it being developed in Austin are Canadian jobs are being taken away, which they are not, actually its reverse some Amercian jobs are being taken .
Whannnnn Whannnnn dat is the sound of 20 year old babies
Always interesting to hear this stuff, but as the saying goes, "Don't sing it, bring it!" So i'll wait to get some official word to start getting my hopes up. Sure would make my day though, I'd send the smed some taunting emails
Frankly, even if this is true, LA's involvement in the game will bring about the same problems and stumbling blocks the current game suffers. Perhaps Bioware will do better than SOE, but there is only so much better anyone can do with Lucas Arts throwing garbage into the stew.
Fact is, SOE was not alone in making the decision to throw out the baby instead of the bathwater when SOE and LA "held hands and went forward together". LA was right there with them.

Okay, I just sent a PM to the guy who said he called HR at Bioware himself. I linked him here. See if he shows and what he can tell us..

http://forums.bioware.com/viewtopic.html?topic=474465&forum=22 they didn't say anything about it
I wish I could asnwer this directly but it would hurt my source for sure. Lets just say its what Bioware wants for experience without a doubt
There are ways for you to confirm this but Im not getting into specifics

I would love to believe this, but for now i have to be in the cautiously hopeful category.
I would not nor can not ask anyone to openly or secretly reveal a source, so I will wait for a two party confirmation of this.
Lets all hope if you enjoyed the old game that it is real, but lets not buy stock just yet in Bioware for this sole reason.

Actually BioWare took back their statement about working on other company's IPs saying that "the statement was made before the announcement of an MMO"
you can find the exact quotes by two BioWare empolyees in a thread I created a few days ago.

BioWare makes great SW RPGS.. no one can dispute over that fact.
I really hope this is true.. would make my.. um.. month
SOE can die and burn in bad MMO hell.
Obraik.. please shush..
If you don't have anything to contribute don't post anything at all
