Exactly!
LA played a pretty large part with the NGE, if they're not impressed with how the game is going then they are as much to blame as SOE is.
Really, how does this rumour differ from anything else that has been posted in the past? All state they have inside sources, all state that what they're saying is reliable, all state that Pre-CU is coming back in some way and so far, all are false.

That is true LA was a big part of this mess but the poor Costumer Service that SOE has shown not only in SWG but on all the MMO that they produce is the biggest isue here. They always do thing their way without hearing the paying costumers

Totally not going to dispute that SOE are the kings of crappy customer service. I stand by my historical and well documented tradition of hating on SOE to the point that I've boycotted their parent company's products (CDs, movies and electronics as well). Thing is, you can't JUST beat on Sony for this one. And so many DO. Every rumor that includes LA dropping SOE and going with some other company to partner their butchery of Star Wars is met by enthusiastic applause and renewed hope by many. Which blows my mind. Because it just can't be much better as long as LA is also part of the equation.
Bioware succeeded in making a great game using the SW IP. Why would this now be any different? Dont you guys think they had to report to LA about it as well? Dont tell me that since its an MMO it gonna be different.
Failure lies with SOE. I wont say that LA is blameless but SOE has shown they have a pattern to releasing expansions and games unfinished to get money. I dont know if Bioware has a few skeletons in the closet but I cant believe they are as bad SOE.
Don't forget about the job postings at LA also. Something is happening around a SW MMO, I just have a hard time believing it will take the form of a resurrection of SWG.

Yes, it's true that LA had a major role in destroying SWG with the NGE, I wouldn't say that there is no hope as long as LA is in control. Since there can't be a SW MMO without the blessing of LA, then there has to be a way. Simply put, fire two people. Julio Torres and Nancy MacIntyre.
Torres was the producer from LA that ramroded NGE on us, MacIntyre is the COMPLETE MORON that said there was too much reading and that they wanted "kill, loot treasure, repeat."
So, if someone in charge at LA were to get a clue and can those morons who have no concept of gaming, then there might be a hope to get a good SW MMO back.
SWG Tempest: Cardo Dycen RIP Eve: Cardoh Dycen I support random drug testing for all SOE employees
EVEN if Bioware makes a new swg mmorpg, the fact is that there will STILL be things people don't like at all with the game they make. IT seems like these game companies will never see the light here. All they have to do is put back to Pre-Cu, make it Identical, Nothing changed. Then work from there to fix bugs/and exploits, And ONLY bugs/exploits and content. Now, saying bioware making a totally new game they are just ignoring the problem once again, except it is a little more diguised this time, SOE tried to make a new game with it twice, now it must be Bioware's time to see how they can mess this crap game up.
That is what the whole community wanted and Still Wants. Yea sure, KOTOR is a great game, but i Do Not want KOTOR online, i want SWG the way it was. The worst part of the NGE for me was making Jedi a non alpha class, if jedi are not a Alpha class in a new SWG game-then i simply will not play. because thats what SWG was to me, i do not want to play some other star wars game that is now Quest driven and a WoW clone with storm troopers.
So basically my opinion:
ROLLBACK TO ANYTHING PRE-NGE
OR
Make SWG2 that is identically the same to anything Pre-nge with better graphics/up to date, and what have you.

That doesn't mean anything. I mean pretty much if you think of it from a business point of view Julio was the PRODUCER of SWG. He was the one who basically made all the decisions. All SOE (Scum Of the Earth) had to do was convince him and they get the ok. After this he convinced those as Lucas Arts that the NGE was right. This could have been AFTER it had already came out. Later Lucas Arts came to their senses and moved Nancy Bitchentyre to another position so she would no longer affect SWG and when was the last time we heard anything from Julio? He could have been fired for all we know. But it seems like there is something big that is going to happen and really people use your heads I mean if they were working on another game then why would they set up shop in Austin? I mean if they were working on another MMO for Lucas Arts don't you think they would set up in California where Lucas Arts is located??? Put 2 and 2 together. They are setting up shop in Austin so they can get people from SOE and be able to corrobrorate with SOE on database and servers or whatever. I am just telling you all that I think and using my deductive reasoning for this new rumor. Hey remember all when the NGE rumor came out no one believe that either....

Actually don't take any of my arguements personally I have more of a problem with the fact this site eats posts on a regular basis. Sometims I hit post and it even brings up an entirely different thread and my post is... no where to be found.
So going to try and do this again but not so detailed (ramble lol).
I saw 3 more things I wanted to reply to.
First was the supposed backing off non BioWare IP's for the MMO.
My only issue and I couldn't find the post that person referred to is... BioWare backed out of Kotor 2 over creative differences. I don't see the point of going to the expense that a modern MMO costs to make even with some pre-existing code.. with a company that you have had past problems with. I also see LAE at least 50% responsible for the CU/NGE. There was another post here about Torres and Mac from LAE... two of the biggest baffoons ever allowed to bring changes to a game.
Second was the idea the MMO would now be made in Calgary taking away American jobs rather than Canadian.
Seeing as how the Austin Studio was specificly created to work on the MMO. If the project was now based in Calgary it would look to me as a waste of money and rather stupid to have opened the Austin office to now not use it. Altho it would fit in perfectly with the decision making skills needed to take over SWG. (nothing against canada its just there would have been no point to the austin studio if the mmo shifted to calgary).
The last was...
That BioWare had previous success with a Star Wars game and that it wouldn't be different just because it was an MMO... this was more about LAE being involved.
(I'm not doing quotes because having more browser windows open seems to fubar my posts)
There is a major difference.
When you release a battlefront or a Kotor.. other than a few patches the game is done. You sell every copy you can and move on.
You will never have a CU or NGE and if you did its a totally new game that you are selling in stores as a new game. A MMO is something that lasts hopefully for years.. UO is almost 9 years old and EQ is 7.
Obviously as with SWG patches and changes come to those games but they are existing games and not new games. Which is exactly why the CU and NGE were major problems that involved LAE as much as SOE.
They took an existing game trashed it to some fuk'd up vision and totally were willing to trade out their player base.
So I'd not only say it would be different because its an MMO that is exactly why the problem happened to begin with. Which is also why if I was BioWare I'd keep my company and my companies reputation far from that trash heap (tho I'd like them to take it and fix it).
The only way I'd do the game is if they would give my company total control with decisions within that title.

Well the thing is SOE developed the game , therefor its bugs , Lack of content , CS and overall flaws are soley at fault of SOE . Jedi and time-frame issues are at fault of poor thought rather than execution . Which is something easily changed by simply offering a different time setting . For there to even be a Star wars game obviously LA are going to be involved .
Bioware is a highly respected developer , They were able to create an awesome star wars experience with KOTOR . With experienced MMO Developers on hand from SOE . I can see a good game coming from this mixture .
LA deals with its own agenda in regards to its games , That is longevity of their enterprise . They also handle most of the advertising . They may be responsible for certain aspects regarding SWG , But their interests are sound . They want Something better then SOE gave them , They also seem to understand their audience does not trust SOE. Which is quite evident if this rumor is true .

Actually that reference seems to me , quite often taken out of context . I think she was refering to NPCS dialogue , Something more EQ2ish with reading and spoken dialogue is a much more emersive experience .
What MMO is not kill , loot treasue repeat ? By the popularity of games like WOW you would think that is what people crave in an MMO .

I wish I could asnwer this directly but it would hurt my source for sure. Lets just say its what Bioware wants for experience without a doubt
There are ways for you to confirm this but Im not getting into specifics
Aint happening.
First, look at the job postings for "Lead Combat Designer" and "Lead World Designer". It specifically asks for: "Familiarity with fantasy role-playing games is a must".
SW:G isn't fantasy.
It's not a headfake.
HR is not going to divulge this information, even if you COULD call them. Which is possible, but in the really real world, HR people are just one step away from temp workers. They don't know, they don't care what the job requirements are, other than what they posted on the BioWare website. They receive resumes via fax or email, with a specific code on each resume, then forward that resume to the department head responsible for making that hire. Nothing more, nothing less.
The only reason people are making up this bullshit is to garner attention. Pure and simple. They want to be thought of as "in the know", to be someone on a mmorpg website. For the rock star status that bring. It's not hard to sit down and think:
"OK, so BioWare hired Gordon Walton and Richard Vogel. Ex SWG people. Bingo! I'll make a post about it because people will put two and two together!1 Also!! They made KOTOR!!!"
Or
"OK, so Spacetime is Gary Gattis and Brandon Reinhart. Ex SWG People! BINGO!!! I'll make a post about it because people will put two and two together!!"
BioWare is making a fantasy MMO, NCSoft is making an Sci Fi MMO based on an original IP (read: SW isnt an original IP for them).
It isnt happening. The sooner people quit making up shit like this the better off people will be. And the sooner people quit believing the hype, the better off they will be. SWG is dead, there is NO amount of intarweb posting rumor fodder that will bring it back.

actually thats not true. You refer to the rumor of a rollback in February because of LA cancelling SOE's contract. Well it turns out LA did pull their license. They just didnt pull the game yet. Not sure where everyone got the idea that February was some magical deadline to turn off the servers.

Who knows about all the job postings here and there, but....the user agreement for Star Wars Galaxies has never changed and it states in part:

anyone else find it curious that SOE has their forum moderators working overtime tonight to monitor these posts ? In the past, posts (even really bad offensive ones) sit on the forum till morning.
For some reason this subject is very important for SOE to keep quiet.
And notice the mods arent saying its not true, just that its a rumor....meaning it could or could not be true but they wont commit either way.
I am so enjoying this because I know the truth SOE. Your days are numbered.

actually its not the locking of posts, its the fact that they are paying employees overtime to do it. Having worked for a Fortune 500 company before, I know what a big deal it is to approve overtime asap. There would have to be a crisis of some sort to require approval.

SWG - 1st Gen MBH (Closed)
EVE (Closed)
WoW (61 Orc Hunter - Blackwing Lair)
GuildWars (Boring...)

I knew I'd find some facts in all of this. ^_^
Considering the source of 'the source', I'd be a little more than skeptical. Still ... nice thoughts and all.

http://forums.bioware.com/viewtopic.html?topic=474465&forum=22 they didn't say anything about it
I wish I could asnwer this directly but it would hurt my source for sure.
Ever.
Ever ever ever ever ever ever.
Exactly!
LA played a pretty large part with the NGE, if they're not impressed with how the game is going then they are as much to blame as SOE is.
Really, how does this rumour differ from anything else that has been posted in the past? All state they have inside sources, all state that what they're saying is reliable, all state that Pre-CU is coming back in some way and so far, all are false.
actually thats not true.
OFFERS YOU ACCESS TO AN ACCOUNT (THE "ACCOUNT") AND THE SERVICE TO ALLOW YOU TO PLAY THE STAR WARS GALAXIES: AN EMPIRE DIVIDED ONLINE FANTASY ROLE PLAYING COMPUTER GAME.
All that Jedi stuff, purest fantasy.

anyone else find it curious that SOE has their forum moderators working overtime tonight to monitor these posts ? In the past, posts (even really bad offensive ones) sit on the forum till morning.
For some reason this subject is very important for SOE to keep quiet.
And notice the mods arent saying its not true, just that its a rumor....meaning it could or could not be true but they wont commit either way.
I am so enjoying this because I know the truth SOE. Your days are numbered.
From the home page of the Bioware website...
They're certainly doing something...
Lol, I knew this post was coming.
Because the mods deleted/locked posts concerning this topic, no matter how ancillary, somehow validates your rumor?

I do have to say that while I worry about LA's meddling... Bioware DOES know how they meddle, and I am SURE they are smart enough to go into this with open eyes and terms set.
LA isn't the one with the strong hand. Bioware is. They know the beast.. and I'm sure they have a chair and a whip ready.

It sounds great, so great in fact, I pitty those who canceled - Some deluded SWG fanboi who pities me.

actually its not the locking of posts, its the fact that they are paying employees overtime to do it. Having worked for a Fortune 500 company before, I know what a big deal it is to approve overtime asap. There would have to be a crisis of some sort to require approval.
Go over there now and watch, its quite hilarious. One second a post is there and the next its gone before anyone can even reply. Ive seen 6 removed in the last few minutes.
