we do however have a substantial Muslim and Palestinian ethnic base to our culture. Not as big as Frances perhaps, but it is there. We will always be sympatheic to the plight of the Palestinians and the Lebanese.

the rich control the media and the government and the means of production, while the poor work the sweat shops and fight wars of territorial conquest for them.

Exactly! Just for a short while the BBC stood up to the government about the Iraq war and the dodgy dossier of intelligence, Iraq posing immenent threat of attack in 45 minutes - yeah right - I didn't realise you could throw rocks and sandals thousamnds of miles away. The BBC underwent a ferocious attack even though they were 100% correct and the person that had the proof against the government committed suicide - apparently.
Since then the BBC dare not stray from the (zionist) party line, they are little more than the israeli governments PR agency now and the public has to pay for it - now that's f88ked up

The rich are just making sure they and theirs don't starve. It's more Darwinism. They are not "playing with you", they are too busy improving their survival chances.
If it makes you richer, (more survivable), it's worth changing. If it doesn't, it isn't.

I think if you live in America you are probably rich enough to stop working and not starve. The rich people in America will pay your bill if you are not.
However it's still Darwinism. If you live like that, the chances of attracting a mate are very much reduced.

Dominating and controlling, both other people and other species, is not bleak. It's natural. There is great beauty to be found in nature.
Without Domination and Control there would be no Pyramids, no Taj Mahal, no Hoover Dam, no space programme, no farms, no industry. No modern life at all.

Imagine a girl working in a sweatshop. Imagine her born and raised as a subsistence farmer. Trying year after year to grow enough crops to survive a drought or the next locust plague that sooner or later is sure to come.
Imagine her parents faces as they recieve the money she sends back to them from her work in the factory. imagine the improvement in her standard of living that the sweatshop provides. This isn't capitalism, it's communism. Those sweatshops are in China (for example) and they have lifted more people out of poverty in one year then the rest of the world has managed in ten.
I have a friend who recently came from Isreal, stationed there by the US Military. The U.S. gives test weaponry to israel disguised as old styles of weaponry (like an implosion grenade dressed like a normal hand grenade) to try out and test on israels enemies. He said the things you don't see or hear is the truth about the entire situation.
I kind of see it as a relationship. You know neither side is clean, they've both done their fair share of bad things. Yet, does it involve me? Do I need to get involved, and thus take sides and possibly be partly responsible for someone elses actions? Or am I still guilty for not getting involved and thus not trying to stop someone elses actions? I think any way you look at it, we're all murderers... I don't see too many people rushing to africa to stop the atrocities there, or anyone else for that matter. So I don't know how this is any different than any other part of the world.

... i think free trade should have lifted the world out of poverty, but that the WTO fixed that.
i support it because i was born into it. the question was whether i'd be willing to give up what i have to end it... that's probably a no.

i find it funny that most americans see themselves and their country as being moral, even thought america is probably the most hypocritical country in the world.
apparently morality is just a mental delusion, because plenty of immoral people (like myself) would claim to be moral.
thus right and wrong and good and evil doesnt technically exist anywhere except our own heads, because our definitions of these values are subjective and ephemeral, and we often contradict ourselves.
good and evil just seems like a way to rationalize our actions against others, demonize them and deify us.
i suppose... if we were cats, we wouldnt give a shit about any of this, our beliefs are a luxury... or a curse of being human.

Free trade doesn't even come close to what industrialisation can do. I don't know about American history, but in my country it was called the industrial Revolution. We went from poor to richest in the world within a 100 years. We'd had free trade all along, but until we had sweatshops, we had nothing worth trading.

Free trade doesn't benfit poor countries without the industry to compete globally. For those countries smaller trade cartels and embargoes are required. Protectionism.
You can't make grain cheaper than Canada, so all free trade will do is wipeout your indigineous farms. You can't make cars cheaper than Fiat, so free trade will kill your local car industry. And so on.
Free trade most benefits the industrialised countries. Which is why we are the ones calling for it the most.
Well.....then tell the Hezbollah (sp) to stop placing their missiles on top of civilian apartment buildings and grow some chest hair and place them in military installations.
And tell the Lebonese government to controll their extremist groups. Allowing groups to place missiles on top of restaurants and apartment buildings isn't my idea of a strong and stable government
