Sometimes I would wonder if a poster can actually read or if english is the 2nd language as sometimes they comment on things I said, yet nothing in what I posted is actually what they think is there.

The issue of power leveling services has nothing to do with the player not using them feeling "leet" or superior in any way.  That comment surely came out of left field.  Usually the "leetness" comes from the hardcore raider types, but that isn't important to this topic.

I made a comment about City of Heroes for the casual player not a fantasy player.  Someone wanting magic, elves, swords & sorcery would be rather unhappy with the superhero theme of CoX.  I was trying to point out that any class can solo, usually doing a mission in only 10mins or so.  Perfect for a casual player who can logon and do a few missions if they short on time.

Plus, I never accused anyone specifically of cheating.  I thought the topic was on power leveling services.  That I do believe is a form of cheating and I stated the reasons why I thought so.

WoW's huge subscriber numbers have brought this problem to light moreso than other games.  The sheer number of people playing means there are more out there using these services, buying gold on ebay, etc.  Had WoW not been nearly this successful, I'm sure this wouldn't be as big of an issue as there would be less people doing things like this per capita (so to speak).

You can pay people to level your toons for all I care, in the end i'll end up kicking your ass on my toon that I leveled because i'm that much more familiar with it.

Whether powerlevelling services were right or wrong I would think would depend on the game. In WoW, I think it would make very little difference. In a game like EQ which was group-focused, and area-important, and much more economic-centric it would have a much bigger impact. Firstly, those people joining your groups wouldn't be there to 'play', those people would take important areas, and if there was some sort of pay for gold thing as well as the levelling then people would be going for loots whether or not they needed it. However it does depend on the person who is levelling the character up, if they kept out of people's way then it isn't so much of an issue.

Disclaimer : Have not read the entire thread, so if i post on a prestated topic then sorry.

In this debate of services that level your character or sell gold there are obviously two sides.  Some have even bastardized it into a good versus evil debate.  I believe both sides are right and wrong and that a gray area is in the coming.

Ok so having someone else level your toon is cheating.  Yes it is cheating by not playing your toon and " paying " your dues within the game.  What if though some one veiwed a person who played way too much as cheating?  I mean some people have to goto work and pay taxes so others can milk the system and stay home and play these games all day right?

The thing you see argued over and over is time versus reward, this is the golden rule in most RPG's at current.  While one person claims a ebayed account is evil, another person claims a mooch (refering to our unemployed 24/7 players) is evil.  So there is the two extremes.

Not everyone has alot of free time, some who work may have ways to get more free time as well as mooches who cant afford the means to play the game.  All sides exist in this equation.  Who is wrong though, surely someone is the devil?

I believe this is the gray area.  You see some use there time as thier advantage and some use thier money from differently spent time.  In my eyes niether is good or evil, just doing what they can to stay competitive.  Thats why people play so much or buy coin or premade toons .............. to be competitive to the best of thier ability.

THe arguement of ebayed toons cant play for squat........ this holds true for a few weeks then this person learns the toon and alot of times plays well later.  All games and all players must go through a learning curve.  Think about playing a simple game like street fighter.  Two people play each other, one played for months and one just started.  If both are equally skilled at learning a game and playing it then the veteran will probally win while the new guy has to put a lil more time in to figure it out.  " see it is all about time spent, you cant buy skill "  Very true, you cant buy skill but you can bypass time sinks that many dont have the time for, thier skill will build eventually and become a decent player, maybe even a better player then the lifers.

Most MMORPG's are designed to take time.  THis isnt a bad thing when its fun like going through interesting quest and what not.  Tedious things are the killer though.  If you played eq1 you know all about the grind from hell, level grinding, faction grinding, raid grinding, ect.  THese are cop out time sinks.  These were developed not for fun but to keep the player busy to give devs more time to create more content.  All the while everyone still pays to keep trudging through the game but as you see now days, people are getting fed up with these time sinks.

So in short, people will buy toons, people will play these games 24/7.  Neither is good nor evil, just different ways in meeting the end goal is all.

And as a final note, i never have bought a premade toon, all mine made from scratch and piss anted up like most people.  I tell ya now though, i see both sides of the arguement and dont blame people for buying toons, coin, or items ............... its just another way to compete.  If you dont have the cash or the time to compete with these two types of people, then do like most of us and try to enjoy the game for what it is and dont worry about competing.  After all it is just a game, and those who spend alot of money or time on these " games " may have a rude awaking to this fact when the game is cancelled after such investments.  To each thier own is my opinion on this matter.
