No one is saying that reviewers have to contact a company whose product they're reviewing. But I'd say 90% of the time they do give the developers a heads up. The community knew about the review before we did.
If they had just come out of no where and reviewed it that'd be fine, but we had them on the list as waiting for a "press account" so they could review. I guess it's like going to one of two Ford dealerships in town and putting your name on a list for a car that's coming in, but then turning around and buying that car from the other dealership. Nothing wrong with it, completely in your right...just a little...shifty.
---------------------------------
It is a clear example of someone trying to discredit the reviewer any way they can. And they failed. And in turn, made themselves, their company and their product look foolish and unprofessional.
And then, people like you, trying to skirt the issues brought up in the review - make it even worse. Talk all you want grinreaper - every stupid thing you say makes the company look worse. Go on - flame away. Make a stink. Say that PC Zone kills babies in their sleep. I'm sure it will help.
Really, say something else. Anything. I need a good laugh.

I didn't actually mean "lieing" because that isn't a word. How old are you and what is your educational background?
Anyhow, im pointing out he had played the game only a week, and was sad that he didnt get anywhere?
I haven't seen that quoted as a complaint of his. Of course, I haven't read the article, just the quotes from it here. He mentioned not enjoying the graphics or the combat, both of those things could be seen fairly early on. I have played quite a few MMOs, and I generally find them more rewarding in the early levels... when the world is your oyster and you level every couple of hours. I don't think it's really accurate to imply that no game could be enjoyed in the first week... or that a game should be excused for not being fun in that amount of time. Like the guy who reviewed the game, not enjoying it within the first several hours of gameplay is enough to keep me from sticking around.

So I give you a car, and say 'dont drive this till I get you a license'...you take it for a spin and get pulled over. You tell the cop, 'but I have registration'. Do you think it was ok to drive? Should I be ok with you driving that car around? Without taking the drivers test should we have any confidence you actually know how to drive a car? I am not flaming PC Zone, but Kanoth is correct...this whole thing is...shifty

This is where RV differs from many games...the steep learning curve we keep talking about...this game gets more rewarding as you play and figure things out, see new stuff, accomplish tough tasks, meet more people.
I have 10 bucks that says he never got any money, never got deattended, never participated in combat, never farmed, and never crafted anything more than piles in this game. In short, he didnt really play it.

I would take that bet. Apparently there were screenshots in the article showing that he had money, and he posted his disgust with the combat in game. He obviously played it long enough to hate it. You are basing all of this on the very vague statement that he only played a few hours. If it was only 2 hours, I think KFR would have said that. I'd be interested in seeing any evidence of the time he spent in game... or at least hearing a more accurate number than what has been given. I have to say that at this point, i am more inclined to believe the reviewer who has no known motive to lie and hasn't already been caught in a few... untrue statements.
What is your theory on his motivation for lying about his experience in the game?
ok folks sorry missed it too but holding the magazine here.
There are 6 screenshots in the articles.
Look at the bottom screenshot where some female avatar holding a pitchfolk is next to a dung merchant.
Now you can see from the screenshot the inventory is open(ofc the inventory of the person whoever is playing).
Now its shown on top left corner(maybe thats why i did not look) you can make out its 4527(or 4529 but indeed you can clearly make out first number is 4 and its thousands) ses as well as some items like an axe etc.
So indeed the plot thickens and there goes the theory that the chap did not have access to money or items and thus hated the game(even though i felt it was a flawed theory).
So either he indeed was given items/money or had access to an account which had money/items.So one way of the other he played such an account.
Hmm so it seems all the theories flying out the door this last couple of days.
What is your theory on his motivation for lying about his experience in the game?
Why pick just one: time constraints, sloppy journalism, didnt like the game so didnt look any farther, his name is really theVF, got into the gods and heroes beta, Kanoth broke up with his sister, who the hell knows.
I know you think RB told you stories, Sal, but I dont see it that way...they have been nothing but direct and honest...their cred just ranks higher with me than a mag I have never heard of. Sorry.

You have not commented on the screenshot of him having items and over 4k+ ses considering you made it crystal clear that without money he cannot do a proper job .
Ofc you never heard of the magazine you live in the usa.I am sure if you ask ppl across europe millions have heard and read it.
Now lets see how many people across the world have heard of RB!

How have they been even slightly honest? They've been lying from the start, and they've been caught in their lies repeatedly. Where's my $10? I want my money. Maybe you're just as dishonest as this company is. How about that?

Dear god man.Next thing you will be telling me is pc zone has nothing better to do then to personal attack some 3 or 5 man small time operation like RB.
By the way i think you should pay VF the $10 man.Sorry you kept your faith in RB honesty but this is the second mess up story they told to cover up this poor review.
I have always believed RedBedlam was "shifty" because of the Verm, especially since they have broken their promise to set a limit.
A game where the mechanics are manipulated to encourage buying advantages. Very "shifty".

I just won the bet, sucker! Where's my $10?
Thats a stupid question to even ask.
Did you even think before you wrote that?
Assuming he didnt take the SS from a website somewhere? It might be a little early for me to write a check yet...
EDIT: oh ,yeah...so what is in his inventory? Amphora? apples? any tools? Just wondering...

I'm totally getting a Derek Smart vibe from this company and its supporters. It's actually kind of fascinating.
I really would like my $10. All complaints about the review aside - a bet is a bet, and fair's fair.
I want to thank Mark Findlay for shedding light on the review and it's accuracy.
The fanbois and RedBedlam staff have been very "shifty" regarding their futile attempts to dismiss the PC Zone review.
