Believe it or not there are a lot of people still in love with Lineage 2. The "we" Jazia mentions are those players. I havent see many real facts from the lineage 2 haters so far. They fail to deliver. In other words, they are either grumpy because lineage 2 was too tough for them, or like to troll forums of a game they no longer play.
And statements about nothing being done about botters is another lie. The last weeks tons of botters are removed. To bad you cant remove the cancer completly but thats a problem for most mmorpg's these days. Just read the wow boards a bet most money is being made there and not lineage2.
Besides that the reason we see so botters is we dont have instances (Tons of ganking? I am sorry but the person claiming that has stopped playing a long time ago. Will you be killed? Yup its pvp and crying about being killed only make you look childish in a pvp game and most likely you will be worse off. But claiming that newbies cant start the game and level up without to much trouble are a big lie. The starter zones are much safer and yes there might be someone who kills you. You should laugh about it and continue.

I am sure you have a bankstatment with full details of that, and of course you have checked the wow, eq1,eq2 sales too so you founded the statement that lineage 2 was the most corrupt game.

thank you for spreading this kind of game ethic to NA
Besides the fact that i would applaud making gold (adena in our case) buying legal in all big mmorpg's. Companies are stupid not using this goldmine themselves. Believe it or not, real cash shops for the mmorpg market will be norm one day. Not that i will buy anything, its just giving a good feeling that IGE might get some trouble themselves when the official company goes below their pricing.
I love L2, it's probably the only game i can actually play right now... all the latest POS as well as the old ones dont compare and let me infulfilled... i m always hoping for the best when a new one comes around, but i keep on coming back to L2...

That being said, I played L2 in beta and played it just a bit after it released. I didnt play it later for several reasons.
The major turnoff's for me was the grind, I refuse to take a 2nd job, especialy a job where I pay to work, instead of getting paid. L2 is a job, not a game. Someone mentioned he played for 1 month and quit, then someone else said that 1 month is nothing in L2, that he should play for 8 months in order to know L2 fully. Is that reasonable? Its worse then any commitment (except mortgage) in real life. I understand that some people can spend a year playing 5-8 hours a day to get to the high end content and then say they realy KNOW L2, but thats just unresonable and lame.
Another turnoff was PKing. It wasnt that bad at the release, but still, the idea that anyone can kill anyone (no matter if the player is much lower level and unable to fight back) doesnt appeal to me. Yeah sure, the PKer pays some price, but is that price a reasonable one? Lets say someone leveled to max level 2 chars, one char becomes a PKer, he kills 10-20 lowbies before major guild comes to challenge him and at that point he just loges off his PK char and logs back his regular char to wait till things cool off. Rince and repeat. This is just not realistic, even for fantasy world. Not to say its unfare and discouraging to those who dont have the time or skill to be high enough level to resist being PKed.
Economy: is almost nonexistant. Sitting in towns selling stuff EQ style... has it changed? if so, then never mind. If not, it sux even more becuase at the release there werent many ebayers and gold sellers back then. But the idea that I have to be loged on and unable to do anything but sit and try to sell my pathetic sword of weakness was driving me nuts.
Customization: it was OK. Graphics were realy good but the "everyone-looks-the-same-nomatter-what-armor-they-wear" strategy is a huge immersion-killer. And I dont care if I lag in big raids - I pay 700$ for the best VidCard just so that I can enjoy best graphics and variety if i solo or am part of a 40-person raid. Plus, its so easy to downscale graphics for those not fortunate enough to have money for a kickass card (*cough*play less game, work more*cough*)
all the negative aside, L2 was a fine game. It had its good and bad sides but its not a failure or a disaster. Its a full playable game with rich content... its just feels like a chore to get to the juicy part.
Alot of comments from pro-players on this topic are valid (hard to mention them all here, this is a very long post) but remember this, not everyone enjoys open PvP that doesnt realy discourage PKing, not everyone doesnt care about gold sellers (CoH doesnt count since they have no items to sell), not everyone happy to spend 5-7 hours daily for 8 months grinding on 5 types of mobs.
PS: as I mentioned before I played L2 in beta and for a bit after release so some or a lot of my info may be outdated or irrelevant. Feel free to correct any misinformation.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

If calling someone a lyer when they clearly write down untrue stuff about a game is considered trolling and worthy of a warning is pathetic. I will continue to point out that they are lyers if people write the same stuff down again, if i get banned so be it. I rather get banned for pointing out the truth then those who already stopped playing this game years ago, say stuff which already has been proving wrong and are being protcted by moderators.

Good post! I will try to answer some of it since you stopped playing some time ago.
1) Yes it is a grind. Be it for farming xp, be it for farming adena. I cant say that i like it each day, but when i reach a certain level i feel i acomplished something unlike WOW where levels came dailly. But yeah it isnt for all people. I dont think thats wrong though. Each has their own game and style they like.
2) Pking. Yep thats a fact when playing pvp without savezones. But as some of the current players already pointed out some stuff hs changed. First the pk-ing around newbie zones is allmost gone. I say almost because there will always be people who like to kill a lowbie. Thats a simple fact. But when i look at seeying my wife play for 3-4 weeks now she has been pk-ed 4 times. I consider that as a minor problem since she never has been camped by the same people, just one death and they left her alone.
If i look at Devianne then random pk-ing isnt bad at all and if it happens i consider it as apart of the game. Just like grinding i think ffa pvp isnt for each person the right and fun thing to play.
3) Economy. Yup you still have to be online for selling. I dont mind it, just like in the early everquest days i have fun while buying/selling stuff while talking to friends of mine. Maybe i am old school in playing and the current generation has different viewson it. I disliked the eq2 broker and the AH in WoW and i love the system in lineage 2. Money isnt that hard to make although for some people its to much of a grind which i can understand.
4) Yup people look a lot the same but thats a point which each player will think different. You like diversety of how players look and i dont mind seeying a lot of the same looking players. Just again a different opinion.
So yeah thank you for taking the time and telling your opinion. Its much easier to react posting this type of posts compared to those who attack players who like to play lineage 2 and are being name called. Do we have botters, yup we have as has every other mmorpg out there. Yesterday a offical answer came on the forums saying they banned 50.000 acounts last year for botting. They are working on the issue. Yes there is pk-ing but its full pvp and for me i had more troubles with pvp in wow because of all the namecalling then i had in lineage 2.
I played L2 for about a year(right before C3 came out to a month or so before C5). The grind didnt bother me, the having to stay online to sell stuff didnt bother me, the random pvp didnt bother me(that was fun i thought). What bothered me about the game and what eventually made me quit and refuse to come back, is the botting, let me give you a example of how bad it is(i was on Devianne server btw). I was a lvl 63 dark elf blade dancer, at the time i quit there was only 3-4 good catas/necros i could go to to lvl up in for my level range. There were many many times where i could not gain any worthwhile exp the entire day because every SINGLE room in every single cata/necro had a bot party in them. Sure you could train them, but they eventually started getting smarter, and if you did manage to get them out of the room, they would usually be back in about 10 minutes, half the time with a lvl 70+ dagger user acting as an enforcer who would grief you and your party out of the room.
If you killed them, before you could burn the karma off theyd be back, they try to force you to keep killing them, then an enforcer comes along and 3 shots you and you possibly lose some gear. Yes NCsoft says they ban X number of bots every so often, but when you see the same bot party in the exact same room in the same cata/necro every single day for over 3 months, and no amount of reporting them does anything, you start to lose hope. Sometimes you can ask bots to leave a room and they will actually let you have it, but the higher lvl areas you get to, the less likely this is to happen.
Do other MMORPGs have bots? of course they do, but in all the MMOs ive played, never has the problem been as terrible as it is in L2, they can actually make the game unplayable at times. I used to love L2, but after a year of having to put up with the same bots id seen since lvl 30, enough was enough.
Thank you ginfress01 for admidting that random pk does exist. Unlike others who cliam it doesnt happen at all anymore and anyone who says it does is a liar. Open Pvp is not for me. I could probably learn to like L2 if not for that. I read a while back that L2 opened a CoOp server but that it wasnt available to NA/EU user. why is that??

Well people were stating that pk-ing in the newbie zones was so bad that it was impossible to startup. That isnt true. People stating that in an ffa pvp game ganking doesnt excist are liars too. Otherwise lineage 2 would be the first game to accomplish that. Yes ganking does excist but if i look at the places my wife (who really is new to the game and plays for 3-4 weeks now) and she is killed 4 times thats acceptable. If i look at myself i havent been killed another player for weeks already which is acceptable to me. So again is there ganking? Yes there is but not in the amount certain people talk about.
I dont know anything about the CoOp server myself but since we overhere dont have one it's most likely only the korean players have one.

WoW has the same problems. The high level zones were packed with botters happily farming away. I stopped playing the game a few months back (yes this dumbo here was playing both wow and lineage 2...i have to much spare time =p) so i dont know how it is today, but i left mainly because i got sick and tired of not finding a good spot to play thanks to the bot-community

Go on the official forums and write a post complaining about the farmers/botters and get your account banned...
Yeah, that's the type of game I want to pay for. (The above happened to me)
That aside, it was a beautiful game and I didn't mind the grind. The problem with the game is NCSoft and their inability or lack of caring to remove the botters/farmers/adena buyers. That's the real reason this game failed outside of Korea. (>1M players vs. 75K players in NA/Oz/Europe)
Simply put, It has the best political experience you'll ever get. It maybe dirty, but hey, it's the closest thing to life. Straight-down dirty.
This aspect of the game I don't think anyone will argue.
Secondly, yea I admit the game is a gridnfest. But the game was made that way to minimize competition within the game to those who burn their lives for the damn game. The Game isn't for CAREBEARS. Go play WoW, if you don't got the ballz to put countless hours into it, whether it'd be because you think wasting that much time in an MMO is inane.
Because WoW is no different in that, the end-game content after lvl60 is all about killing certain mobs over and over and over again for so called rare items, so later on you can also GANK on hordes or vice versa.
No other game comes as close to portraying the human psychology as exact as Lineage II.
And about the person who said it's too harsh in that Siege is only end-game content. Hell yea it is! And once you do experience raiding Anthras, Valakas..., and siegeing against other alliances and clans...That's one part of the game you will never understand because you've never experiences it.
I still remember going raiding Anthras in ch1 with 500 other people in korean Bartz. Nothing amounts to that quality, and you will never understand the addictiveness Lineage II triggers players into, concerning that aspect of the game.
Baby~, it's all end-content. You don't got ballz to play casually 1-2years, or take a grindfest for 6months, than this ain't you're game....
Go Home Son...Go Home...
GRIND sucks? You wanna be max level in a month? Since when did society award easy-goers and lazy-fools? MAKES ME PHOBIC OF STUPIDITY!
Not to make you angsty or anything, old son, but I think the musical instrument you're wanting is a "Lyre." The only "Lyer" I ever knew was a bloke in East Anglia. He was quite nice and looked a wee bit like Vic Reeves.

edit: Whatever. I am out of here. But i would advice you not to attack someone because of not using the english language the right way expecially those who dont have it as their main language. Its stupid when its done by just a poster, its more stupied when you see a moderator do it.
What about the Müller-Lyer illusion?

You are one of 4 or 5 posters who called people liars and didnt even spell it right.
This was a general notice to everyone in the thread to
It was not aimed at anyone in particular. Its easy to push the lock or delete button, but where does that get us ?
