I've been married to the same woman for almost 17 years.
Her hair doesn;t shine like a Pantene commercial. Are you going to tell me that my "hardware" isn't good enough?
Man sounds like you need to upgrade to a newer model. They have the hair shining turned on in the under 25 models running single 2.0. Its the older models running married 3.0 that don't have that feature enabled anymore.
LotR runs well only because a few FPs and animations are missing from the game. This has been address several times in this forums that LotR is missing animation. That's primarily the reason the game runs well. And again, the reason people love LotR gameplay over some of the other games is because the people who playing the game have outdate computer. I mean how people can say they have a computer with Windows Vista, GeForce 6800, DSL/cable and Intel process? Many of those people who give bad reviews to games or bad compares are people who more than likely don't have a good function and updated computer.
This is about the mmost absorb post so far, and yes I reported has flaming. To gicve you my computer specs

Your post is an insult and a flame/troll. Have fun in the Saga of Slideshow
You beat me to reporting him! Lastera is nothing but a Turbine hating troll. Every post I have seen of his about LOTRO or even Asheron's Call has been reported. Or at least it always says that when I try to report him for trolling. He never provides anything contructive to a thread and instead always throws out rediculous comments that more often than not are lies.
Trolling on the grounds of what? Saying that the game is missing a few FPs. Cry me a river. I was able to play the LOTR on my other crappy computer on the highest setting, which is 5 year outdated. You know you don't get good performance unless you are missing quite few features to reduce lag. Trolling is saying things that indirectly insult people to get them upset. { Mod Edit }
It's well known that Turbine caters to a crowd who refuse to update their computers. Hell, a lot of game in MMORPG.com that have bad graphics or lack of FPs cater to a lot of people in MMORPG.com. I wonder why that is?
Aren't you also the person who tried to start the rumor
Actually, you and the other LotR fans have been doing is trolling and flaming people who note a bug or say they dislike something about the game. You and the other people here believe if you all disagree with someone, everything that person says is like. I actually tasted dual wielding myself. It's broke. The weapon speed are broke once you start dual wielding because the animation of dual wielding are the same one used in DDO. Put a knife with a 1.0 and put axe with 3.5 speed, and you see you are always strike with both at the same. Now play World of Warcraft and use dual wielding and you'll see there how and why dual wielding is broke. Because of this, you guys are losing dps, not gaining any from dual wielding. I'm better off using a two-handed weapon as oppose to using two weapons because I'll be doing the same damage.
Had you even tested it out for yourself, you would see that. But again, you guys do nothing more than sit around and disagree with people who assume are being negative about the game, flaming and trolling.I just played a Champion up to 14 this past week. DW is working fine.
"Many nights, my friend... Many nights I've put a blade to your throat while you were sleeping. Glad I never killed you, Steve. You're alright..."
VG may have more going on in their servers but that is hardly the real reason why it runs so poorly. Also LotR is in closed beta, wait till open beta when there are tonnes of more players then we will see. If you are refering to the game worlds, don't preach to me about VG's openess and the amount of activity, I found so many areas in VGs open world that were so lifeless and unreal, it's one of the reasons I quit the game.
You've still missed the point I was trying to make. As matter of fact, there's picture of a dwarf from VG in this topic you should look at and then compare it to the dwarves of LotR. VG dwarves and character seem to have what you would call more "layers." They are more "whole" so to speak where as the dwarves of LotR are missing those same layers. I also notice you can't swim, the fighting swings are missing animations, instance houses and dungeons, etc. There's a lot missing that I've seen a lot of other MMORPGs handle well. Which is why I said at what price is LotR paying for good design and performance?
I'd rather have less "layers", than be playing a game that sacrifices performance for more polygons.
Not sure which game you're talking about with the missing animations. Have yet to see any of that in LOTRO. As for instanced houses and dungeons.... whatever it takes to keep performance up along with high graphics settings, I'm all for.
Wow.. you mean there's no swimming in VG? You should see it in LOTRO... the water movement is incredible when you're swimming and if you go backwards, you do the backstroke!
I'm not sure what animations are missing either. I've seen this suggested before. Perhaps they're confusing VG's missing animations and projecting their anger onto LOTRO.
Animations: Drawing your sword--Lotro has, VG does not; Shouldering/unshouldering your bow--LOTRO has, VG does not; Creatures having a death animation--LOTRO has, VG has occasional animations; Swimming -- LOTRO has, VG has a clunky animation that allows you to see just how bad the water rendering is. Skill animations -- LOTRO has a nice variety of animations for skill activation, VG seemed to recycle the same couple animations for all skills.

I need a coder that can program her to be backwards compatible!
It's okay Mithrandolir, if you want admit you're a fanboy, nobody will hold it against you.
Don't worry about me though, I and 150,000+ other people are still enjoying VG's graphics.
To tell you the truth I was looking forward to LOTRO myself. The idea of being able to play against the fellowship (atleast before they apparently changed that fact) sounded awesome. Sadly as I said, when I played the game I simply couldn't stand the incredibly weak graphics, and the poor engine that made me feel like I was playing DDO again. Let's just hope that LOTRO doesn't turn out like all of Turbine's other games, right?

i'm a fanboi, i suppose, like vanguard.... having said that, my wife and i played LotRO for a grand total of an hour and a half before she had to quit because the graphics engine was making her nauseous........ we have both been playing VG since Beta iv with no such issues, not counting crashing / chunk lag and the performance issues that VG is suffering from atm, which have been steadily improving...... so, for me LotRO performance > VG performance, Graphics VG > LotRO, but what do I know, i was a CoW in WoW....

I find it humorous that the Vangaurd fans have to come here and rectify themselves with insurance that they are playing the top graphical game even though they have no real concept of game design and art direction. They ponder why some of us continue to support a game that seems like it is inferior. They can't grasp a concept that Turbine didn't create any promise, or say it was an innovation. Turbine has just delivered a stunningly fun and rewarding title. Unlike Vangaurd the performance of LotRO is astonishing, the water is the best water in a mmo to date with a world that uses advance AI technology , that Vanguard simple doesn't have.
O wait, you didn't know about the LotRO AI ? hmh www.kynogon.com/
So yeah, Better Ai , Better Performance and a lot more fun. Lets weight this .. AI ,, Graphics ... Ai . .graphics... I don't know about you but I will take the Ai .
*Whispers* "Conan has better AI and graphics". *shh*
I totally agree, but for my self , I just don't think I can handle the graphic content that game will offer, I was looking forward to it but I feel it is just to far over the top for me at the age I am at right now .
Also with LotRO , think they are smart enough to not waste a whole lot of time with bumpmaps, becasue in a few months to a year , dx10 will be able to hand that without having to overload the game with multilayer textures.
I agree, and I will be playing LOTRO until the launch of AoC and I totally expect LOTRO to be a wonderful game.
The thing with AoC too, what is the pricing module gong to be since it will be on the 360 as well. If you own a 360 it might be worth doing some digging and find out.
It will be 14.99 a month on the pc and 360. This is where it gets catchy. If you have a silver account on 360 you may only play on servers with other 360 users. To play with PC users you have to have a gold account for your XBOX. This is just form the most recent dev discussions and by no means is the end all statement to go by.
Yeah, the only thing I don't like about Conan is the instancing/zoning. But they are smart enough to have realized what they are going for couldn't have worked in an open game-performance/graphically speaking - so I guess it's alright. I hear some zones can be kilometers large too.

Wow, you belive those numbers. FYI, might not want to belive what CEO's of corporations say with regard to how well the company is doing
Out of curiosity ( i quit vanguard a while ago ), do they have AA in game yet ? Or do they know when it is coming ?
I might go back and try it soon, but AA was one of the things i was waiting for, I am not a fan of jaggy graphics.
Comparing the graphics in Lord of the Rings online with Vanguard is laughable. I beta tested Vanguard for nearly a year (since February 2006) and played it two weeks into launch. I have a very high end system, and even on the maximum settings Vanguard does not approach the quality of Lord of the Rings. The texture work, lighting, view distance, water, particle systems and virtually every other system in LoTRO eclipses Vanguard. Here's a gallery I put together, showcasing the graphics of LoTRO:
Vanguard has become nothing more than an industry joke, and a textbook example of project mismanagement. I'm writing this, not to enrage Vanguard players, but to open their eyes. Vanguard isn't the graphically advanced game many believe it is. It's an inefficient game client, pushing out mediocre graphics and tedious gameplay.
