What could be the cause of this? A horrible expansion pack that only added in two lazy races and one big chunk of land? The Next Gen MMO's ? Whatever it may be, and maybe you've been seeing is a lot lately, but people have been complaining about WoW regardless of the reasons.
Where are your statistics on people quitting WoW. Give me some numbers and I might believe you.

If you want a sure fire WoW killer, look no further than Guild Wars 2.

Consider for a momment that the majority of features that make WoW different from Guild Wars on a gameplay level will be implimented in GW2, along with all the things that make Guild Wars better than WoW.

Removal of level caps, persistant un-instanced world, etc..etc..

All the goodness of EQ like (Wowlike) games mixed in with all the goodness of Guild Wars.

Including the fact that you dont have to pay for it month by month.

Say what you want about warhammer, age of conan, whatever.  These subscriber based games are going to have to earn thier money on a whole new level in 2008.

    Guild Wars 2.

As you may recall by reading the first topic this started on. He said that people are getting bored because they have reached level 60.

I will now reply do this rediculous suggestion in the best way I can.

    A. WTF!!!!??? Burning Crusade is out now, and DING!!!!!! new dungeons, tons of new places to explore, hundres upon hunreds of new items, AND LVL 70 IS ATTAINABLE!!!!!!

    B. Replying to the comment directly before this. HOLY HELL!!!!! Guild Wars has a good potential, but compared to WOW, it has NO online community, which makes half the game let me remid you!  Also, you can barley even call it a massiveley multiplayer game considering the only time you can even see other players is in big cities!!!!!! I would like to give it a new tite in online games, ASMOG. A Slightly Multiplayer Online Game. And finaly, Guild wars 2, nor guild wars 3, nor guild wars 4 could ever beat WOW considering that Guild Wars will even last that long, and even though new WOWs may not come out, it is slowly changing at all times and never needs a sequel. If you look back on WOW when it was first made, you would see a different game!

Hope all you WOW fans agree with me, E-mail me at Friguy300@yahoo.com

I dont think the game is dieing. Its simply slowly moving out of the top 5 games list, but i think the game still have a long long future.

I personaly dont like it at all (in fact i left some time ago), but i think saying its dieing its a bit rush because it was the game with a bigger number of subscribers 30 days ago, and is probably still leading that list.

After two months of playing, I got really bored of World of Warcraft. World of Warcraft is just constant leveling and I hate that. Plus, after level 40, there is nothing to look forward to besides raiding and epic mount. The new skills are not really anything to look forward to, in my opinion. I wish they made other skills, that you had to level up as well. The game would be much better with other skills to level. I doubt World of Warcraft will ever die though. They will lose members but more people will join as well.

Wow definitely has lost probably 1/3 if not half of their veteran player base over the past 2 months. And thats being nice. I just resubscribed and only about 2 of my 20 friends that played the game are still around. Yes, there are new people, but a lot of the veterans are leaving and that is a fact and blizzard is well aware of it. I'd be surprised if blizzard had more than 4 million subscribers still.

WoW is like a coakroach it cant die just like Warcraft 3 / Starcraft still gets playtime (we're all installing that game at work)

Blizzard knows how to execute on a design and how not to piss off all their customers like what Sony did with NGE/CU. sure, Blizz will piss off their ppl but they wont totally shoot themselves in the foot they're not that dumb

been playing a lot of MMOs and i see why WoW is uptop. its easy to play like a single player RPG.

I want more depth and rich pvp so it looks like my choices are hella slim this sucks guess I'll just keep playing my console games til some more MMOs come out

Oh well, I have switched to LOTRO myself for a couple of reasons , First its not owned by SOE and second I want to play a game based on one of my other favorite franchise (the other was Star Wars).  WoW was and still is a great game .

There is a third reason , While playing WOW for the first 2 years I keep under the radar while I continued my struggle with SOE but now althou my accounts were reinstated with SOE , I have brought Jestor Rodo back as hobbit name Rodo.

Come to the Nimrodel server and hi five me there and of course , Love that Jestor!

    Unaware of the Jestor?

Oh, yeah, AoC and WAR will be the greatest games ever, they'll kill WoW within a week,  theyre just amazing since everyone one is in theyre closed betas and actually knows what the gameplay and graphics are, and is going to go out and convince all the Joe never heard of MMOs to play them

I love it when 10 year olds post on a public thread... it's always so epic.

Fact 1 : Blizzard adds new servers almost every 3 months to keep up with growth

Fact 2 : Many MMOs are combining servers to up population.

Fact 1 = Growth and NOT dying (not dieing)

Fact 2 = Loss of subscribers (ie Vanguard, EQ2, SWG, etc etc)

so my point is..... until Blizzard starts combining servers en masse then it's safe to say that it is NOT dying.

Bristae = wrong... Blizzard has already considered to merge ther lower pop servers because people ARE leaving. player run census (using programs to monitor the server 24 hrs) show that not nearly as many play as blizzard claims. not to mention all the Full servers are beggining to read Normal now, youd have to be ignorant to say WoW is not losing members.

but ofcourse, all the people you know that stopped playing are clearly a good indication of a subscriber base of 8,5 mil...oh no wait, it isn't actually...In fact, with so many subscribers, its only normall people quit, but as some people quit, other people start playing the game.
And I'm sure a press release from the owner is also a good indication? lol

And ya know I was going to continue this argument but the first few posters had it right..it's a fanboi flamefest in here.

No point arguing with Fanatics. But I'll state my point anyway. To hell with it.

WoW does something that most other mmorpgs don't - it focuses on getting new blood in constantly and doesn't give a rats ass about actual longterm subscribers.

If people leave constantly and people join constantly that does not mean the game isn't dying. The question is how long are those people staying before leaving as the next batch will stay about as long on average. If it's a short enough time, you will run out of people to keep joining. Dying isn't a question of people joining (new people join any crappy game - WoW has more publicity so therefore more people join it

    ); it's a question of people staying.

yea.. its just like microsoft saying that Windows Server 2003 is the most widely used server OS (which it isnt)... :p The owners expand the truth.. and they tend to say stuff that isnt true to get people to play it.. check yourselfs.

I hate to tell you this but.....

you are wrong my good evilhare

blizzard has NEVER concidered merging servers, they offer free transfers to low pop servers from "full" high pop servers. They do this all the time. that is why you see "full" go to Normal, because people transfer servers. But hey I guess having an blizzard employee friend means I know nothing..... <shrug> Now go play Maple Story son.
