Americans have a very twisted sense of morality (I'm an American). It might be the only country in the world where you can see blood and gore on prime time television but GOD FORBID if anyone shows a little tit because it might corrupt the children. Sex, the most natural and pleasant thing on the planet, is forbidden fruit, but blowing people away on national televison is just fine.

This thread is pretty stupid in my opinion. Who cares is women have exposed breasts in a freaking game? It isn't like it does anything to make the game better. It is really just an artistic choice and one that is kinda silly since it will offend some people which will be an issue for some younger people. While I don't care if the game has breasts or even sex in it for when I play it. I probably wouldn't want my young daughter playing it and I'd probably be concerned about how some less mature people might respond to this. So in my opinion nudity doesn't offer much and is a negative. It certainly has no effect on gameplay other then to say wow look.... So someone saying they won't play because the game is censored... well that just seems silly...
What about blood? What about decapitation? What if they take out killing all together and make it all about delivering flowers? Where do you draw the line?

I think oversoul is probably right that they will have a scalable version of the game. In other words, like so many games, you will have to enter your Birth Date to "unlock" the boobs and possibly the blood. In that sense it may make everyone happy. And we all know if you are under 18 you will not put in your wrong birthdate..... lol. We shall wait and see I guess

LOL ok not looked though and read all the posts here but i find it totally ironic that the US can have blood and gore and violence but absolutly nothing of a sexual nature at all, yet EU can get sexual nature and not much about blood and gore and violence. I emember the big whoo har that came with the old c64 game that let you behead your opponent, they tried to ban it (which is why the sequel was pretty dull).
LOL, just for example, when ch4 (UK) had bought the right to show the WWF/WWE (4 ppv's a year, lasted 2 yrs before they dropped it), the 1st show was hailed by all but 1, over being well done, but that 1 person stayed up and complained and it was upheld and the other shows were held back 1hr and edited (all violence chairshots, blood etc taken out), not the fact that before the show was on at 1am in the morning, that the previous 3hrs was all about sex nudity and other such things of that nature. After the show the same was shown again again for an hour/hour and half of sex, but that again was fine. But the violence that was in the WWF show wasnt allowed, ironic. (show was 1am - 4am but always seamed to finish 30 mins earlier than scheduled back then). the time slot should have been ok in itself.
This sucks for us canadians who will have thier game censored when our shows have more violence and "canadian humour" or dirty jokes than any other fucking country and we won't be able to see tits. but then again does not relly bother me since i don't play mmo's for porn it will just be the little kids who are dissapointed for having their only source of boob taken away for shame
I find it funny that when Age of Conan was announced and it was stated that it would keep all of the violence and sex found in the novels intact, fanboys jumped all over it and praised Funcom for not compromising the IP and for wanting to make a "mature" (a term I find ridiculous, but that is another post) game.
Now, when it is mentioned that Age of Conan might be censored for sexual content in North America, this decision is applauded by the same fanboys because now Funcom wants to ensure it reaches more people, etc.
What about not compromising? I thought this game was going to be oh so mature with boobs being everywhere (the antithesis of mature, in my opinion)?
Really, though, I understand Funcom's situation - AO ratings make games unmarketable, just like NC-17 ratings make movies unmarketable. It is a stupid system I do not agree with, but one that publishers must deal with.
Still, the hypocrisy is sickening. Funcom will not be delivering the game initially promised to North Americans, because they are going back on their word to keep it true to the books, and they are praised for it.

On the radio a lot of songs run uncensored, on TV we have far more lax rules about what is appropriate, and our film ratings board treats sex in a much healthier way.
Still, we will be stuck with the censored North American version, despite the fact that in Canada nudity, profanity, and sex would only earn it an "M" rating.

I wish the developers would have though about the boobs and nudity before, 18 years old to play this game sounds great then you dont have to have 12-17 year olds running around talking crap in main chat and you can acually have fun when grouping.
Keep in mind that in America boobs are still taboo. I live here and it sickens me how much censorship we have to deal with. I cant even purchase a Playboy at sam goody without getting wierd looks from people
